Book Predicting Jamming Systems Frequency Hopping Sequences Using Artificial Neural Networks

Download or read book Predicting Jamming Systems Frequency Hopping Sequences Using Artificial Neural Networks written by Charles Strickland and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author's abstract: This work proposes a neural network architecture that was designed to predict and reverse engineer frequency hopping jamming systems. The neural network was initially optimized for use with a 12th order linear shift feedback register maximum length sequence utilizing a minimal polynomial as the characteristic polynomial. This neural network was then scaled to accommodate 7 different sequences, of orders 6 through 12. The neural network was trained for these sequences using training data that is 10 times the length of the sequence. This information is then used to generate a hopping sequence that reduces the jamming interference to 0 with as few as 4 jammer hopping samples. The model is also capable of determining if the jammer is utilizing a sequence that the model is trained for in as few as 25 jammer hopping samples.

Book Simultaneous Mutual Interference and Jamming in a Frequency Hopping Network

Download or read book Simultaneous Mutual Interference and Jamming in a Frequency Hopping Network written by Don J. Torrieri and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bit and word error probabilities are analyzed for a frequency-hopping system that is being jammed while operating in a network of similar systems. The methodology allows straight-forward generalization to many variations not specifically discussed. Primary emphasis is given to a statistical deployment model in which interfering network hoppers are uniformly distributed beyond a minimum radius. Binary frequency-shift keying and minimum-shift keying are the data modulations studied in detail. The effects of repeater jamming, partial-band jamming, block coding, repetition coding, and spectral splatter from adjacent channels are examined quantitatively. (Author).

Book A Robust Ratio Threshold Technique to Mitigate Tone and Partial Band Jamming in Coded Frequency Hopped Communication Links

Download or read book A Robust Ratio Threshold Technique to Mitigate Tone and Partial Band Jamming in Coded Frequency Hopped Communication Links written by M/A-COM LINKABIT INC SAN DIEGO CA. and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frequency hopping has long been regarded as an effective technique to thwart intentional and unintentional interference. The latter includes also fading and multipath. An advantage of frequency hopping, as compared to direct sequence spread spectrum techniques, is that phase coherence is not required. This makes frequency hopped systems more robust, since they are dependent on one less parameter, which is particularly significant for fading channels wherein rapid phase variations make it difficult if not impossible to track. On the negative side, noncoherent systems performance is inferior to coherent systems, particularly when the number of bits per hop is small (or worse yet, fractional). More serious is the fact that tone or partial band jammers can cause severe degradations (of orders of magnitude) relative to full band Gaussian jammers.

Book Performance Evaluation of Different Jamming Strategies Over Uncoded Noncoherent Fast Frequency Hopping MFSK Communication Systems

Download or read book Performance Evaluation of Different Jamming Strategies Over Uncoded Noncoherent Fast Frequency Hopping MFSK Communication Systems written by Konstantinos Karkatzounis and published by . This book was released on 2004-09-01 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fast frequency hopping technique is considered one of the most effective Electronic Protective Measures (EPM) for military communications systems in order to mitigate the effect of a follower or repeat jammer. This thesis evaluates the performance of different jamming strategies as barrage noise jamming, partial band jamming and multitone band jamming against an uncoded noncoherent FFH/MFSK system with a conventional receiver. The theoretical and simulated results showed that the best jamming strategies for the examined modulation orders M=2,4,8 is the optimum case of multitone band jamming. As a second goal, this thesis also provides a preliminary analysis for an uncoded noncoherent FFH/MFSK system in a Rayleigh fading channel. This analysis includes the theoretical and simulated results for the influence in the performance from a barrage noise jammer along with AWGN. The results of the theoretical analysis and the simulation modeling for both cases can be used as guidelines to analyze more complicated jamming or combinations of jamming strategies against FFH/MFSK communication system.

Book Optimal Strategies in Jamming Resistant Uncoordinated Frequency Hopping Systems

Download or read book Optimal Strategies in Jamming Resistant Uncoordinated Frequency Hopping Systems written by Bingwen Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Uncoordinated frequency hopping (UFH) has recently emerged as an effective mechanism to defend against jamming attacks. Existing research focuses on the optimal design of the hopping pattern, which implicitly assumes that the strategy of the attacker is fixed. In practice, the attacker might adjust its strategy to maximize its damage on the communication system. In this thesis, we study the design of optimal hopping pattern (the defense strategy) as long as the optimal jamming pattern (the attack strategy). In particular, we model the dynamic between the legitimate users and the attacker as a zero sum game, and study the property of this game. We show that when the legitimate users and the jammer can access only one channel at any time, the game has a unique Nash equilibrium. In the Nash equilibrium, the legitimate users and Eve will access or jam only a subset of channels that have good channel quality. Furthermore, the better the channel, the larger the probability that Eve will jam the channel and the smaller the probability the legitimate users will access this channel. We further extend the study to multiple access multiple jamming case and characterize the Nash equilibrium. We also give numerical results to illustrate the analytical results derived in this thesis.

Book Spectrum Analysis and Prediction Using Long Short Term Memory Neural Networks and Cognitive Radios

Download or read book Spectrum Analysis and Prediction Using Long Short Term Memory Neural Networks and Cognitive Radios written by Jorge Luis Hernandez Villapol and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One statement that we can make with absolute certainty in our current time is that wireless communication is now the standard and the de-facto type of communication. Cognitive radios are able to interpret the frequency spectrum and adapt. The aim of this work is to be able to predict whether a frequency channel is going to be busy or free in a specific time located in the future. To do this, the problem is modeled as a time series problem where each usage of a channel is treated as a sequence of busy and free slots in a fixed time frame. For this time series problem, the method being implemented is one of the latest, state-of-the-art, technique in machine learning for time series and sequence prediction: long short-term memory neural networks, or LSTMs.

Book The Anticipative Maximum Adaptive Array Algorithm for Frequency Hopping Systems

Download or read book The Anticipative Maximum Adaptive Array Algorithm for Frequency Hopping Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The anticipative maximin algorithm is a blind adaptive-array algorithm that exploits both the spectral and temporal characteristics of frequency-hopping signals. The anticipative maximin algorithm fuses a new form of anticipative processing with an improved version of the maximin algorithm to enable the cancellation of partial-band interference within a hopping band. Major advantages ae that the anticipative maximin algorithm requires neither training sequences, directional information, nor decision-directed adaptation. The algorithm provides frequency compensation when the hopping spans a wide spectral band. The algorithm is derived and shown to converge. Details of the design of the anticipative maximin processor are presented. Extensive simulation experiments confirm the effectiveness of the algorithm against partial-band interference under a variety of scenarios.

Book Signal Detection and Jammer Localization in Multipath Channels for Frequency Hopping Communications

Download or read book Signal Detection and Jammer Localization in Multipath Channels for Frequency Hopping Communications written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frequency hopping (FH) is the prevailing spread spectrum method in military communications, largely due to its low probability of detection and interception. In this project we developed a novel signal processing scheme for code-blind reception of multiple frequency hopped transmissions over multipath channels. This technique is based on the principle of dynamic programming and/or expectation-maximization, coupled with multidimensional harmonic and low-rank analysis. It is able to jointly estimate hop timing, hop frequency, and direction-of-arrival (DOA) of multiple FH signals in the presence of frequency collisions, without the knowledge of signal hop patterns. The method can also be used to obtain locate information and operation characteristics of active FH jammers. The associated identifiability of 2-D and multidimensional frequency estimation is also investigated.
