Download or read book Precision Guided Firearm written by Fouad Sabry and published by One Billion Knowledgeable. This book was released on 2022-08-18 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Is Precision Guided Firearm Long-range rifle systems known as precision guided weapons (PGFs) are meant to increase the accuracy of firing at targets at longer ranges via the use of target tracking, heads-up displays, and improved fire control. The introduction of PGF technology to small weapons, which was inspired by missile lock-on and fighter jet technology, reduces various causes of marksman mistake, such as mis-aim, trigger jerk, and shot setup miscalculation. At extreme ranges of 1,100 meters or farther, PGFs have the potential to greatly boost the first shot success probability (FSSP). Download or read book Rifle Marksmanship written by U. S. Marine Corps and published by . This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Marines share a common warfighting belief: "Every Marine a rifleman." This simple credo reinforces the belief that all Marines are forged from a common experience, share a common set of values, and are trained as members of an expeditionary force in readiness. As such, there are no "rear area" Marines, and no one is very far from the fighting during expeditionary operations. The Marine rifleman of the next conflict will be as in past conflicts: among the first to confront the enemy and the last to hang his weapon in the rack after the conflict is won. Rifle Marksmanship, a Marine Corps Reference Publication, provides techniques and procedures for Marine Corps rifle marksmanship. Every Marine is first and foremost a rifleman. Rifle Marksmanship reflects this ethos and the Marine Corps' warfighting philosophy. This publication discusses the individual skills required for effective rifle marksmanship and standardizes the techniques and procedures used throughout the Marine Corps. It constitutes the doctrinal basis for all entry-level and sustainment-level rifle marksmanship training.

Download or read book Making the Soldier Decisive on Future Battlefields written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2013-06-10 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. military does not believe its soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines should be engaged in combat with adversaries on a "level playing field." Our combat individuals enter engagements to win. To that end, the United States has used its technical prowess and industrial capability to develop decisive weapons that overmatch those of potential enemies. In its current engagement-what has been identified as an "era of persistent conflict"- the nation's most important weapon is the dismounted soldier operating in small units. Today's soldier must be prepared to contend with both regular and irregular adversaries. Results in Iraq and Afghanistan show that, while the U.S. soldier is a formidable fighter, the contemporary suite of equipment and support does not afford the same high degree of overmatch capability exhibited by large weapons platforms-yet it is the soldier who ultimately will play the decisive role in restoring stability. Making the Soldier Decisive on Future Battlefields establishes the technical requirements for overmatch capability for dismounted soldiers operating individually or in small units. It prescribes technological and organizational capabilities needed to make the dismounted soldier a decisive weapon in a changing, uncertain, and complex future environment and provides the Army with 15 recommendations on how to focus its efforts to enable the soldier and tactical small unit (TSU) to achieve overmatch.

Download or read book The Eye of War written by Antoine Bousquet and published by U of Minnesota Press. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How perceptual technologies have shaped the history of war from the Renaissance to the present From ubiquitous surveillance to drone strikes that put “warheads onto foreheads,” we live in a world of globalized, individualized targeting. The perils are great. In The Eye of War, Antoine Bousquet provides both a sweeping historical overview of military perception technologies and a disquieting lens on a world that is, increasingly, one in which anything or anyone that can be perceived can be destroyed—in which to see is to destroy. Arguing that modern-day global targeting is dissolving the conventionally bounded spaces of armed conflict, Bousquet shows that over several centuries, a logistical order of militarized perception has come into ascendancy, bringing perception and annihilation into ever-closer alignment. The efforts deployed to evade this deadly visibility have correspondingly intensified, yielding practices of radical concealment that presage a wholesale disappearance of the customary space of the battlefield. Beginning with the Renaissance’s fateful discovery of linear perspective, The Eye of War discloses the entanglement of the sciences and techniques of perception, representation, and localization in the modern era amid the perpetual quest for military superiority. In a survey that ranges from the telescope, aerial photograph, and gridded map to radar, digital imaging, and the geographic information system, Bousquet shows how successive technological systems have profoundly shaped the history of warfare and the experience of soldiering. A work of grand historical sweep and remarkable analytical power, The Eye of War explores the implications of militarized perception for the character of war in the twenty-first century and the place of human subjects within its increasingly technical armature.
Download or read book Weapons of the US Special Operations Command written by Chris McNab and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-07-25 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The units and formations of the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) have privileged access to the finest weaponry in the world's arsenal. Whether Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines, the SOCOM troops select weapons that match their mission requirements, but which also sit at the cutting edge of combat technology. This means that, while SOCOM troops frequently use standard-issue weaponry, they also adopt many specialist pieces of kit that are not so accessible to the broader armed services, including sniper rifles, battle rifles, and machine guns, as well as high-tech tactical accessories used to transform standard weaponry into something exceptional. Assessing the technology and capabilities of these combat weapons, as well as how they have been used in modern combat, this fully illustrated study lifts the veil on some of the most distinctive hand-held weapon systems of US special operations forces since 1987.

Download or read book Green Bullet written by Fouad Sabry and published by One Billion Knowledgeable. This book was released on 2022-08-12 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Is Green Bullet Green bullet, green ammunition, and green ammo are all slang names for a program run by the Department of Defense of the United States to eradicate the use of hazardous compounds in small weapons ammunition as well as in the manufacture of small arms ammunition. The removal of heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, and ozone-depleting chemicals from primers and projectiles was one of the first goals. Throughout the whole of the ammunition production process, these materials were regarded as a potential source of complications. At the production facilities, the materials caused hazardous wastes and pollutants to be produced, and at the shooting ranges, the usage of ammunition created contamination. The demilitarization process and the disposal of unneeded munitions were made difficult and costly by the potential health risks involved.
