Book excerpt: Precise Moments is a collection of essays written as a way of understanding what was happening to me during my period of spiritual growth. These essays represent some of my clearer moments about that period. I did not start out with the idea to write a book of this nature. In fact, it was the farthest thing from my mind because I was not prepared to share these very personal writings with strangers. For years I was a closet writer but I was too intimidated by the thought of the numerous rejection letters I was sure to receive and so I them to myself. Fortunately for me, I began attending the Womens Bible Study at St. James AME Church in Newark, NJ. It was during one of the classes that I felt in my spirit that I should allow someone to read what I had written.

His marriage ended on August 6, 1995 when Lois went home to meet her Maker, her beloved Master. In 1999 he retired, met and married Alice Hedin and moved to Sioux Falls, SD to become a member of Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church. Most of these devotions were created from is seventy three years of eastern Montana life experiences, coupled with spiritual truths, principles, promises and testimonies of faith-builders he enjoyed in overcoming many of life's trials as a man of agriculture, a parent, and friend to many, and a devout, truly born-again man of God, hungry for God's Word. He is looking forward to a blessed eternity in Heaven with Jesus. Friend Stan Pickard for helping get started. Typists and editors: Daughter Ingrid Lardson, Grand-daughter Nichole Larson, friend Heather Ellyson, friends Bill and Shirley Scott for various chores along the way, and my faithful mate Alice for some good ideas and daily encouragement, and showing special interest all the way. Book Precious Moments in Hell

Download or read book Precious Moments in Hell written by Charli, and published by Elm Hill. This book was released on 2020-06-16 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is full of tragedy. No one is exempt from having times when they feel like giving up on life because of pain and misery, “hell on earth.” Author and survivor Charli’s memoir reminds readers to never give up on themselves for the Lord is in the midst of tumultuous events. He is always present in the form of a Precious Moment. Charli is one of the many people who have lived through soul-crushing pain. Beginning when she was four years old, she witnessed the darker side of humanity firsthand, from a physically abusive father who abandoned the family to a neglectful mother. Living in foster care and enduring seven years of daily torture was no walk in the park for Charli and certainly didn’t lighten the burden she would have to bear later in life. Like never-ending torrential rain, Charli’s life threw one storm after another at her, namely the murder of her mother, the sexual victimization and abduction of her daughter, and the abuse from her husbands not unlike what her mother experienced decades prior. “There are valleys we each will walk through in this life. Some refer to them as hell on earth. Psalm 23 call them ‘valleys of shadows of death.’” This book is a testimony that can serve as a lamp onto your feet and a light onto your path.

Book Prodesse et delectare

Download or read book Prodesse et delectare written by Norbert Kössinger and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-12-02 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Horatian formula prodesse et delectare was extremely influential in the production of texts across various languages and genres. While indeed didactic elements can be attested to in almost any medieval text, and while medieval literature displays a range of possibilities to teach and instruct, the scope of the present volume is more closely focused on explicitly didactic literature. This volume combines contributions that analyse didactic literature in high medieval Europe from different vantage points. They open new perspectives on education as a working principle or legitimizing strategy in the heterogeneous forms of writing intended to convey knowledge. This broad thematic, linguistic and geographical scope enables us to view didactic literature as the universal phenomenon it was and prompts us to understand its influence on many aspects of society in high medieval Europe and beyond. While the contributions explore case studies predominantly from this period of transition and the expansion of the categories of knowledge, they also trace some of these developments into the later Middle Ages to spotlight the lasting influence of high medieval teaching and learning in literature. The way medieval writers combine ‘the pleasant’ with ‘the useful’ is this book’s main question.

Book Handbook of the New Sexuality Studies

Download or read book Handbook of the New Sexuality Studies written by Steven Seidman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2007-03-12 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the field of sexuality studies has become a growth area in academia and classes on sexuality studies are incorporated into various disciplines, the expanding book market has been filled with specialist oriented texts which are often theoretically focused and contain too many summaries for an undergraduate audience. Addressing this imbalance, this key new volume presents the field of sexuality in an accessible and engaging way for undergraduates. Breaking new ground, both substantively and stylistically, this book offers students, academics and researchers an accessible, engaging introduction and overview of this emerging field. Its central premise is to explore the social character of sexuality, the role of social differences such as race or nationality in creating sexual variation, and the ways sex is entangled in relations of power and inequality. Through this novel approach, the field of sexuality is considered, for the first time, in multicultural, global, and comparative terms and from a truly social perspective. This important volume consists of over fifty short and original essays on the key topics and themes in sexuality studies, and interviews with twelve leading scholars in the field which convey some of the most innovative work being done. Each contribution clearly conveys the latest research with examples. Ideal for students of gender and sexuality studies, this topical and timely volume will be an invaluable resource to all those with an interest in sexuality studies.

Book Notes from a Diviner in the Postmodern World

Download or read book Notes from a Diviner in the Postmodern World written by Theresa C. Dintino and published by Theresa C. Dintino. This book was released on 2016-06-16 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to bring indigenous wisdom to the postmodern world? How do divination and ritual fit into modern society? How does one integrate ancient spiritual teachings into a western mindset while remaining true to the original meaning? Notes from a Diviner in the Postmodern World: A Handbook for Spirit Workers is a guidebook for both diviners and spirit workers of any tradition. In this book Dintino describes what she calls the landscape of the otherworld, revealed to her through spirits—ancestors, archangels, elemental and light beings—in her divinations. Whatever your spiritual tradition, there’s always a shared landscape of the otherworld. Understanding the landscape will help you navigate your own spiritual terrain. Learning how to be an effective diviner and spirit worker also means that you must interact fully with the wisdom of the place where you live, which includes learning from all living things including mountains and water. This powerful handbook teaches you how to heal your world by exploring inter-dimensional realms and ultimately becoming a spiritual steward of the Earth. “When I became a diviner, I did not expect to encounter a landscape in the otherworld that I would become familiar with and navigate more easily as I continued to divine. I am still exploring this landscape, but wanted to share some of the things I have learned in order to help those interested in the dimensional realms understand better what they are seeing. What I have included in this book is not meant to be rigid; it is a conversation and a guide.”

Book Handbook of Psychotherapy Integration

Download or read book Handbook of Psychotherapy Integration written by John C. Norcross and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-05-14 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hailed by one reviewer as "the bible of the integration movement," the inaugural edition of Handbook of Psychotherapy Integration was the first compilation of the early integrative approaches to therapy. Since its publication psychotherapy integration has grown into a mature, empirically supported, and international movement, and the current edition provides a comprehensive review of what has been done. Reflecting the considerable advances in the field since the previous edition's release in 2005, this third edition of Handbook of Psychotherapy Integration continues to be the state-of-the-art description of psychotherapy integration and its clinical practices by some of its most distinguished proponents. Six chapters new to this edition describe growing areas of psychotherapy research and practice: common factors therapy, principle-based integration, integrative psychotherapy with children, mixing psychotherapy and self-help, integrating research and practice, and international themes. The latter two of these constitute contemporary thrusts in the integration movement: blending research and practice, and recognizing its international nature. Also closely examined are the concepts, history, training, research, global themes, and future of psychotherapy integration. Each chapter includes a new section on cultural considerations, and an emphasis is placed throughout the volume on outcome research. Charting the remarkable evolution of psychotherapy integration itself, the third edition of this Handbook will continue to prove invaluable to practitioners, researchers, and students alike.
