Download or read book Pratiques aquatiques du jeune enfant et developpement de l autonomie written by Jean-Paul Moulin and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'OBJET DE CETTE ETUDE EST D'ANALYSER LES EFFETS DE LA PRATIQUE DES ACTIVITES AQUATIQUES SUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT DE L'AUTONOMIE DU JEUNE ENFANT. IL S'AGIT D'UNE ETUDE LONGITUDINALE COMPARATIVE. DEUX GROUPES, L'UN EXPERIMENTAL (DONT LES ENFANTS SUIVAIENT DES SEANCES DE PISCINE), L'AUTRE TEMOIN (DONT LES ENFANTS NE SUIVAIENT PAS DE SEANCES DE PISCINE) COMPOSES CHACUN DE 12 ENFANTS AGES DE 9 MOIS AU DEBUT DE L'EXPERIMENTATION, ONT ETE SUIVIS PENDANT 21 MOIS. UN QUESTIONNAIRE A PERMIS LA SELECTION DES ENFANTS ET L'HOMOGENEISATION DES GROUPES. DEUX METHODES DIFFERENTES ONT ETE APPLIQUEES. L'UNE PSYCHOMETRIQUE OU L'ECHELLE DE DEVELOPPEMENT MENTAL DE GRIFFITHS A ETE UTILISEE, L'AUTRE ETHOPSYCHOLOGIQUE, BASEE SUR LES OBSERVATIONS DES ENFANTS DES DEUX GROUPES A LA CRECHE, A L'AIDE D'UN REPERTOIRE COMPORTEMENTAL QUE NOUS AVONS CONSTRUIT. CES DEUX METHODES SONT COMPLEMENTAIRES, CAR ELLES NOUS ONT PERMIS DE MESURER DES ASPECTS DIFFERENTS DE L'AUTONOMIE. DES DIFFERENCES SIGNIFICATIVES ENTRE LES DEUX GROUPES APPARAISSENT. LE GROUPE DES ENFANTS QUI ONT SUIVI LES SEANCES DE PISCINE OBTIENNENT DE MEILLEURS SCORES SUR L'ECHELLE DEVELOPPEMENTALE DE GRIFFITHS, QUE CEUX DU GROUPE TEMOIN, EN CE QUI CONCERNE LE QUOTIENT GENERAL ET TROIS DOMAINES EVALUES PAR LE TEST, "MOTRICITE", "PERSONNALITE-SOCIABILITE" ET "PERFORMANCE". LES ENFANTS DU GROUPE EXPERIMENTAL MANIFESTENT A LA CRECHE DAVANTAGE DE COMPORTEMENTS A BUT COMMUNICATIONNEL ET MOINS DE COMPORTEMENTS D'EXPLORATION QUE LES ENFANTS DU GROUPE TEMOIN. ENFIN, LES ENFANTS DU GROUPE EXPERIMENTAL OBTIENNENT DE MEILLEURS RESULTATS QUE CEUX DU GROUPE TEMOIN EN CE QUI CONCERNE UN ENSEMBLE DE CONDUITES QUE NOUS AVONS REGROUPEES SOUS LE TERME D'AUTONOMIE. L'ENSEMBLE DES RESULTATS DE CETTE RECHERCHE NOUS INCITE A PENSER QUE LA PRATIQUE DES ACTIVITES AQUATIQUES A UN EFFET POSITIF SUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT DE L'AUTONOMIE DU JEUNE ENFANT, MAIS QUE LES FACTEURS PROVOQUANT CET EFFET SONT MULTIPLES ET DIFFICILES A CERNER.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1972, Should Trees Have Standing? was a rallying point for the then burgeoning environmental movement, launching a worldwide debate on the basic nature of legal rights that reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Now, in the 35th anniversary edition of this remarkably influential book, Christopher D. Stone updates his original thesis and explores the impact his ideas have had on the courts, the academy, and society as a whole. At the heart of the book is an eminently sensible, legally sound, and compelling argument that the environment should be granted legal rights. For the new edition, Stone explores a variety of recent cases and current events--and related topics such as climate change and protecting the oceans--providing a thoughtful survey of the past and an insightful glimpse at the future of the environmental movement. This enduring work continues to serve as the definitive statement as to why trees, oceans, animals, and the environment as a whole should be bestowed with legal rights, so that the voiceless elements in nature are protected for future generations.

Book The Los Angeles River

Download or read book The Los Angeles River written by Blake Gumprecht and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2001-04-30 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the J. B. Jackson Prize from the Association of American Geographers Three centuries ago, the Los Angeles River meandered through marshes and forests of willow and sycamore. Trout spawned in its waters and grizzly bears roamed its shores. The bountiful environment the river helped create supported one of the largest concentrations of Indians in North America. Today, the river is made almost entirely of concrete. Chain-link fence and barbed wire line its course. Shopping carts and trash litter its channel. Little water flows in the river most of the year, and nearly all that does is treated sewage and oily street runoff. On much of its course, the river looks more like a deserted freeway than a river. The river's contemporary image belies its former character and its importance to the development of Southern California. Los Angeles would not exist were it not for the river, and the river was crucial to its growth. Recognizing its past and future potential, a potent movement has developed to revitalize its course. The Los Angeles River offers the first comprehensive account of a river that helped give birth to one of the world's great cities, significantly shaped its history, and promises to play a key role in its future.

Book Success in Early Intervention

Download or read book Success in Early Intervention written by Arthur J. Reynolds and published by Child, Youth, and Family Servi. This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a valuable source of information on the long-term effects of early intervention programs on the education of children living in economically disadvantaged areas and in other contexts. Early intervention programs such as Head Start enjoy popular and legislative support, but until now, policymakers and practitioners have lacked hard data on the long-term consequences of such locally and federally mandated efforts. Success in Early Intervention focuses on the Child-Parent Center (CPC) program in Chicago, the second oldest (after Head Start) federally funded early childhood intervention program. Begun in 1967, the program currently operates out of twenty-four centers, which are located in proximity to the elementary schools they serve. The CPC program's unique features include mandatory parental involvement and a single, sustained educational system that spans preschool through the third grade. Central to this study is a 1986 cohort of nearly twelve hundred CPC children and a comparison group of low income children whose subsequent activities, challenges, and achievements are followed through the age of fifteen. The lives of these children amply demonstrate the positive long-term educational and social consequences of the CPC program. Arthur J. Reynolds is a professor of social work, educational psychology, and child and family studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
