Download or read book The Theory and Practice of Discourse Parsing and Summarization written by Daniel Marcu and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most discourse researchers assume that full semantic understanding is necessary to derive the discourse structure of texts. This book documents an attempt to construct and use automatic and non-semantic computational structures for text summarization.
Download or read book Parsing Techniques written by Dick Grune and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-10-29 with total page 677 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Grune and Jacobs’ brilliant work presents new developments and discoveries that have been made in the field. Parsing, also referred to as syntax analysis, has been and continues to be an essential part of computer science and linguistics. Parsing techniques have grown considerably in importance, both in computer science, ie. advanced compilers often use general CF parsers, and computational linguistics where such parsers are the only option. They are used in a variety of software products including Web browsers, interpreters in computer devices, and data compression programs; and they are used extensively in linguistics.
Download or read book Engineering a Compiler written by Keith D. Cooper and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-01-18 with total page 825 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This entirely revised second edition of Engineering a Compiler is full of technical updates and new material covering the latest developments in compiler technology. In this comprehensive text you will learn important techniques for constructing a modern compiler. Leading educators and researchers Keith Cooper and Linda Torczon combine basic principles with pragmatic insights from their experience building state-of-the-art compilers. They will help you fully understand important techniques such as compilation of imperative and object-oriented languages, construction of static single assignment forms, instruction scheduling, and graph-coloring register allocation. - In-depth treatment of algorithms and techniques used in the front end of a modern compiler - Focus on code optimization and code generation, the primary areas of recent research and development - Improvements in presentation including conceptual overviews for each chapter, summaries and review questions for sections, and prominent placement of definitions for new terms - Examples drawn from several different programming languages

Download or read book The Grammar of English Syntax written by Goold Brown and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 730 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principles of grammar can never have any beneficial influence over any person's manner of speaking or writing, till by some process they are made so perfectly familiar, that he can apply them with all the readiness of a native power; that is, till he can apply them not only to what has been said or written, but to whatever he is about to utter. But how shall, or can, this readiness be acquired? Answer is by a careful attention to such exercises as are fitted to bring the learner's knowledge into practice. In this book we will study and practice Sentences, Articles, Cases, Adjectives, Pronouns, Verbs, Participles, Adverbs, Conjunctions, Prepositions, Promiscuous Exercises.

Download or read book The Grammar of English Grammars Illustrated written by Goold Brown and published by Full Moon Publications. This book was released on 2004 with total page 3570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Goold Brown (7 March 1791 – 31 March 1857) was an American grammarian. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, the third child of Smith Brown and Lydia Gould. His family could be traced to some of the earliest Quakers in New England. Author Preface : After about fifteen years devoted chiefly to grammatical studies and exercises, during most of which time I had been alternately instructing youth in four different languages, thinking it practicable to effect some improvement upon the manuals which explain our own, I prepared and published, for the use of schools, a duodecimo volume of about three hundred pages; which, upon the presumption that its principles were conformable to the best usage, and well established thereby, I entitled, "The Institutes of English Grammar." Of this work, which, it is believed, has been gradually gaining in reputation and demand ever since its first publication, there is no occasion to say more here, than that it was the result of diligent study, and that it is, essentially, the nucleus, or the groundwork, of the present volume.
Download or read book Efficient Parsing for Natural Language written by Masaru Tomita and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parsing Efficiency is crucial when building practical natural language systems. 'Ibis is especially the case for interactive systems such as natural language database access, interfaces to expert systems and interactive machine translation. Despite its importance, parsing efficiency has received little attention in the area of natural language processing. In the areas of compiler design and theoretical computer science, on the other hand, parsing algorithms 3 have been evaluated primarily in terms of the theoretical worst case analysis (e.g. lXn», and very few practical comparisons have been made. This book introduces a context-free parsing algorithm that parses natural language more efficiently than any other existing parsing algorithms in practice. Its feasibility for use in practical systems is being proven in its application to Japanese language interface at Carnegie Group Inc., and to the continuous speech recognition project at Carnegie-Mellon University. This work was done while I was pursuing a Ph.D degree at Carnegie-Mellon University. My advisers, Herb Simon and Jaime Carbonell, deserve many thanks for their unfailing support, advice and encouragement during my graduate studies. I would like to thank Phil Hayes and Ralph Grishman for their helpful comments and criticism that in many ways improved the quality of this book. I wish also to thank Steven Brooks for insightful comments on theoretical aspects of the book (chapter 4, appendices A, B and C), and Rich Thomason for improving the linguistic part of tile book (the very beginning of section 1.1).

Download or read book Compiler Construction written by Niklaus Wirth and published by Addison Wesley Publishing Company. This book was released on 1996 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A refreshing antidote to heavy theoretical tomes, this book is a concise, practical guide to modern compiler design and construction by an acknowledged master. Readers are taken step-by-step through each stage of compiler design, using the simple yet powerful method of recursive descent to create a compiler for Oberon-0, a subset of the author's Oberon language. A disk provided with the book gives full listings of the Oberon-0 compiler and associated tools. The hands-on, pragmatic approach makes the book equally attractive for project-oriented courses in compiler design and for software engineers wishing to develop their skills in system software.
