Book Practical Solution of Plastic Deformation Problems in Elastic plastic Range

Download or read book Practical Solution of Plastic Deformation Problems in Elastic plastic Range written by A. Mendelson and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical method for solving plastic deformation problems in the elastic-plastic range is presented. The method is one of successive approximations and is illustrated by four examples which include a flat plate with temperature distribution across the width, a thin shell with axial temperature distribution, a solid cylinder with radial temperature distribution, and a rotating disk with radial temperature distribution.

Book Plasticity for Engineers

Download or read book Plasticity for Engineers written by C. R. Calladine and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-09-01 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the plastic property of materials, and the way in which structures made of such material behave under load. It is intended for civil, mechanical, electro-mechanical, marine, and aeronautical engineers for under-graduate or post-graduate courses or research, and professionals in industry. Professor Calladine, from long experience in teaching, research and industry, here delivers a readable and authoritative account of theory and applications. He presents the classical "perfect plasticity material" as a model of irreversible mechanical behaviour, using this perfect plasticity property to analyse a range of continuum structural problems and metal-forming processes relevant to engineering practice.

Book Solution of Elastic Plastic Stress Analysis Problems by the P Version of the Finite Element Method

Download or read book Solution of Elastic Plastic Stress Analysis Problems by the P Version of the Finite Element Method written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-11 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The solution of small strain elastic-plastic stress analysis problems by the p-version of the finite element method is discussed. The formulation is based on the deformation theory of plasticity and the displacement method. Practical realization of controlling discretization errors for elastic-plastic problems is the main focus. Numerical examples which include comparisons between the deformation and incremental theories of plasticity under tight control of discretization errors are presented. Book Thermal Stresses in Severe Environments

Download or read book Thermal Stresses in Severe Environments written by D. P. Hasselman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 727 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Thermal Stresses in ~~terials and Structures in Severe Thermal Environments constitutes the proceedings of an international conference held at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA, on ~1arch 19, 20 and 21, 1980. The purpose of the conference was to bring together experts in the areas of heat transfer, theoretical and applied mechanics amd materials science and engineering, with a.common interest in the highly interdisciplinary nature of the thermal stress problem. It is the hope of the program chairmen that the resulting interac tion has led to a greater understanding of the underlying prin ciples of the thermal stress problem and to an improved design and selection of materials for structures subjected to high thermal stresses. The program chairmen gratefully acknowledge the financial assistance for the conference provided by the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the Army Research Office and the Office of Naval Research as well as the Departments of Engineering Science and Mechanics and Materials Engineering at Virginia Poly technic Institute and State University. A number of professional societies also provided mailing lists for the program at no nominal cost The Associate Director, Mr. R. J. Harshberger and his staff at the Conference Center for Continuing Education at VPI and SU should be recognized especially for their coordination of the con ference activities, lunches and banquet. Provost John D. Wilson gave a most enlightening and provocative after-dinner speech.

Book Effect of Overheating on Creep rupture Properties of HS 31 Alloy at 1 500 Degrees F

Download or read book Effect of Overheating on Creep rupture Properties of HS 31 Alloy at 1 500 Degrees F written by John Paul Rowe and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of overheating HS-31 alloy to temperatures of 1,650 degrees, 1,800 degrees, 1,900 degrees, and 2,000 degrees F during the course of rupture tests 1,500 degrees F was carried out. The overheating was applied periodically for 2 minutes in most of the tests. The intent was to develop basic information on the effect of overheats on creep- rapture properties in order to assist in the evaluation of damage from overheats during gas- turbine operation.

Book Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations in Engineering by W F Ames

Download or read book Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations in Engineering by W F Ames written by W. F. Ames and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1972-07-21 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints associated with concepts of causality, memory and stationarity; methods of system representation with an accuracy that is the best within a given class of models; methods of covariance matrix estimation;methods for low-rank matrix approximations; hybrid methods based on a combination of iterative procedures and best operator approximation; andmethods for information compression and filtering under condition that a filter model should satisfy restrictions associated with causality and different types of memory. As a result, the book represents a blend of new methods in general computational analysis, and specific, but also generic, techniques for study of systems theory ant its particularbranches, such as optimal filtering and information compression. - Best operator approximation,- Non-Lagrange interpolation,- Generic Karhunen-Loeve transform- Generalised low-rank matrix approximation- Optimal data compression- Optimal nonlinear filtering
