Book Power To Prosper In A Foreign Land

Download or read book Power To Prosper In A Foreign Land written by Sam Jullius and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-02-25 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many people think as soon as they travel abroad, all will begin to be well, but the assumption is totally incorrect. People flaunt foreign embassies in their countries, all hoping to go abroad without any specific assignment in mind is uncalled for. People do all manner of things to travel overseas, believing that their freedom of speech and the economic advantage over their homeland will help them succeed in no time as soon as they land in the foreign land.Well, in God's agenda, that may be the plan, but there are so many battles confronting people in foreign lands that cannot even allow them to settle and know what to do with their lives.I have seen cases of people who have been abroad for 30 - 40 years but have little or nothing to show for it. I know of a sister who had been in a popular nation for thirty-five years with no husband, no children, and not even a good job to justify her continued stay there. What may be responsible for this horrible situation and stories we hear about people living abroad, especially the blacks? The Lord instructed me to write this book as a relief to the battles confronting many people abroad who have tried their best but all to no avail. The truth is people who live abroad need prayers more than the people in their country of birth. Suppose you were fighting a single enemy when you were at home, as soon as you are privileged to travel abroad. In that case, you should get ready to fight double and multiple enemies, but most people go and relax when they get abroad, thinking there are no enemies in the foreign land, which is the deception of so many.As you are reading this book, I may not know precisely how many years you've spent in a foreign land, or maybe you are planning that one day you too will travel abroad; there is good news for you, and that is what this book is all about.

Book Why Nations Fail

Download or read book Why Nations Fail written by Daron Acemoglu and published by Currency. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brilliant and engagingly written, Why Nations Fail answers the question that has stumped the experts for centuries: Why are some nations rich and others poor, divided by wealth and poverty, health and sickness, food and famine? Is it culture, the weather, geography? Perhaps ignorance of what the right policies are? Simply, no. None of these factors is either definitive or destiny. Otherwise, how to explain why Botswana has become one of the fastest growing countries in the world, while other African nations, such as Zimbabwe, the Congo, and Sierra Leone, are mired in poverty and violence? Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson conclusively show that it is man-made political and economic institutions that underlie economic success (or lack of it). Korea, to take just one of their fascinating examples, is a remarkably homogeneous nation, yet the people of North Korea are among the poorest on earth while their brothers and sisters in South Korea are among the richest. The south forged a society that created incentives, rewarded innovation, and allowed everyone to participate in economic opportunities. The economic success thus spurred was sustained because the government became accountable and responsive to citizens and the great mass of people. Sadly, the people of the north have endured decades of famine, political repression, and very different economic institutions—with no end in sight. The differences between the Koreas is due to the politics that created these completely different institutional trajectories. Based on fifteen years of original research Acemoglu and Robinson marshall extraordinary historical evidence from the Roman Empire, the Mayan city-states, medieval Venice, the Soviet Union, Latin America, England, Europe, the United States, and Africa to build a new theory of political economy with great relevance for the big questions of today, including: - China has built an authoritarian growth machine. Will it continue to grow at such high speed and overwhelm the West? - Are America’s best days behind it? Are we moving from a virtuous circle in which efforts by elites to aggrandize power are resisted to a vicious one that enriches and empowers a small minority? - What is the most effective way to help move billions of people from the rut of poverty to prosperity? More philanthropy from the wealthy nations of the West? Or learning the hard-won lessons of Acemoglu and Robinson’s breakthrough ideas on the interplay between inclusive political and economic institutions? Why Nations Fail will change the way you look at—and understand—the world.

No matter how dark the circumstance may look like, speak positive words about it, for with God all things are possible! Words set spiritual forces (good or bad) into motion, and they manifest positively or negatively in the physical. Speak according to the Word of God!

Book THERE IS POWER IN PRAISE

Download or read book THERE IS POWER IN PRAISE written by GODSWORD GODSWILL ONU and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-03-08 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God is fearful in praises; and there is great power in praise! If you have done all you know to do without success, use the weapon of praise, and the result you will get will blow your mind! A classic example of the power of praise is when the people of Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir came to battle with Jehoshaphat, king of Judah. The Lord fought for them, as they sang and praised. But I want you to notice that it was not praises alone that secured the victory for them. Firstly, they fasted; secondly, they prayed; thirdly, they believed God; fourthly, they appointed holy and sanctified people to offer praises; and fifthly, they sang and praised.

Book Literary Study of the Bible

Download or read book Literary Study of the Bible written by Christopher Hodgkins and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 719 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most comprehensive and accessible introduction to scriptural art yet written Literary Study of the Bible: An Introduction approaches each book of the Bible (including several of the apocrypha) with non-sectarian literary questions, exploring the meanings that the Bible reveals when we read it like a poem, narrative, or play. As a unique hybrid of introductory guide, essential handbook, historical survey, and absorbing commentary, this book fills a gap in literary Bible study with its fresh perspectives on the biblical writers’ many arts. Readers will engage in wide range of textual approaches and interpretive traditions through this broadly informed, accessibly written text. Dr. Christopher Hodgkins has taught Literary Study of the Bible for 25 years, over which time he has field-tested the many lenses—of genre, image, language, characterization, plot, and craft—used throughout this book. Tracing the sources, composition, and influences of the Biblical text, this book places the Bible in a tradition of ancient near eastern, Hebrew, and Hellenistic literary art, giving new depth to the way we understand the familiar stories of scripture. Unlike other literary introductions to the Bible, this book uniquely combines these elements: Approaches the Bible as a richly collaborative and coherent work of literary art, exploring how earlier books influence the creation and interpretation of later ones Provides illuminating commentary supplemented by explanatory textboxes, maps, illustrations, and study questions to enhance interest and expand learning Introduces poetic and narrative devices like doubling, juxtaposition, and irony within the context of scriptural art and editorial design Gives extensive attention to each biblical book, resulting in the most comprehensive introduction to literary Bible study to date Presents these materials through an accessible and lively text permeated with references to both high and popular culture Literary Study of the Bible will be a welcome addition to personal, school, college, and congregational libraries, as well as an excellent text for students of the Bible in both secular and faith-based settings.
