Am Beispiel der integrierten ländlichen Entwicklung klärt sie einerseits die Frage nach forstwirtschaftlichen Potentialen in Regional Governance-Initiativen und analysiert andererseits allgemeine politische Kräfte, die Regional Governance bestimmen. Es wird gezeigt, dass im Rahmen von Regional Governance-Initiativen konventionelle und innovative Potentiale für die Forstwirtschaft bestehen. Diese können jedoch aufgrund unterschiedlicher Informationsstände, verschiedener Kapazitäten sowie unterschiedlicher Anreizwirkungen nicht von allen Akteursgruppen gleichermaßen realisiert werden. Die vorgefundenen politischen Determinanten von Regional Governance umfassen die Konkurrenz zwischen Regional Governance-Institutionen und demokratisch legitimierten Institutionen, die Strategie höherer politischer Ebenen zur Erlangung von Einfluss auf Regionalpolitik, sowie die Prägung von Regional Governance durch die Interessen von starken Akteuren und deren Koalitionen. In diesem Zusammenhang wird gezeigt, dass der sektorübergreifende Anspruch von Regional Governance aufgrund sektoraler Interessenlagen sowohl in der Formulierung als auch im regionalen Vollzug nicht erfüllt wird und sich lediglich punktuelle Integrationserfolge auf Projektebene erreichen lassen. Diese Ergebnisse lassen sich durch zweierlei Machtstrategien erklären: Einerseits das Bemühen übergeordneter politischer Ebenen, ihren Einfluss auf Regionalpolitik auszuweiten und andererseits die Strategie von konkurrierenden Politiksektoren, ihren Einflussbereich zu verteidigen bzw. zu Lasten anderer Sektoren auszudehnen.

In the most recent report, Assessing the potential for Civil- Military Integration, OTA examined the potential for making greater use of common technologies, processes, labor, equipment, material, and/or facilities to meet both defense and commercial needs. This effort, often termed civil-military integration or CMI, is believed by many observers to be an essential element of a successful U.S. national security strategy. OTA's assessment found that greater CMI is possible, and confirmed the potential for cost savings and increased technology transfer as the result of increased integration. The assessment noted that CMI appears essential if defense is to take advantage of many rapidly developing commercial technologies.

Firstly, it reviews previous studies on potential yields of rice, wheat, maize, potato, soybean and rapeseed worldwide to provide a detailed information of studying on China’s and global food security based on the product’s supply and demand of these crops. Secondly, average and top (national) yields of rice, wheat, maize, potato, soybean and rapeseed since 1961 on global scale are employed to analyze their temporal and spatial variation trends and potential limits. Thirdly, the effects of global warming in climate change on both average and top yields of rice, wheat, maize, potato, soybean and rapeseed since 1961 at global level are analyzed using regression model, and their differences between average and top yields among these crops are identified and compared. Fourthly, the yields and per capita quantity of rice, wheat, maize, potato, soybean and rapeseed in major producer-countries and the world are analyzed to assess the situation and trend of international trade for the products of these crops, respectively. Fifthly, potential yields of rice, wheat, maize, potato, soybean and rapeseed worldwide by 2030 are projected using both trend-regressed models and ARIMA models to estimate the per capita quantity of these crops based on the projection of world population and assess the status of Chinese and global food security in that future. Finally, it provides policy implications and advice on food security for China and the world directing food production by 2030 under climate change.

Presenting a compendium of methodologies for evaluating the economic impact of technological innovation upon climate-change policy, this book describes mathematical models and their predictions. The goal is to provide a practitioner’s guide for doing the science of economics and climate change. Because the assumptions motivating different problems in the economics of climate change have different complexities, a number of models are presented with varying levels of difficulty: reduced-form and structural, partial- and general-equilibrium, closed-form and computational. A unifying theme of these models is the incorporation of a number of price and quantity instruments and an analysis of their respective efficacies. This book presents models that contain structural uncertainty, i.e., uncertainty that economic agents respond to via their risk attitudes. The novelty of this book is to relate the effects of risk and risk attitudes to environment-improving technological innovation.
