Book Computational Intelligence in Theory and Practice

Download or read book Computational Intelligence in Theory and Practice written by Bernd Reusch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-20 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Intelligence with its roots in Fuzzy Logic, Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms has become an important research and application field in computer science in the last decade. Methodologies from these areas and combinations of them enable users from engineering, business, medicine and many more branches to capture and process vague, incomplete, uncertain and imprecise data and knowledge. Many algorithms and tools have been developed to solve problems in the realms of high and low level control, information processing, diagnostics, decision support, classification, optimisation and many more. This book tries to show the impact and feedback between theory and applications of Computational Intelligence, highlighted on selected examples.

Download or read book New Essays in Free Logic written by E. Morscher and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Free logic - i.e., logic free of existential presuppositions in general and with respect to singular terms in particular- began to come into its own as a field of research in the 1950s. As is the case with so many developments in Western philosophy, its roots can be traced back to ancient Greek philo sophy. It is only during the last fifty years, however, that it has become well established as a branch of modern logic. The name of Karel Lambert is most closely connected with this development: he gave it its name and its profile as a well defined field of research. After a development of fifty years, it is time to look back and take stock while at the same time scanning for new perspectives. This is the purpose of the papers collected in this volume. The first paper is written by Karel Lambert himself who also comments on all the papers of the other authors. In an introductory essay we give a survey of the present status of and new directions in free logic.

Book Bibliography of Mathematical Logic

Download or read book Bibliography of Mathematical Logic written by Heinz-Dieter Ebbinghaus and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 653 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gert H. Müller The growth of the number of publications in almost all scientific areas, as in the area of (mathematical) logic, is taken as a sign of our scientifically minded culture, but it also has a terrifying aspect. In addition, given the rapidly growing sophistica tion, specialization and hence subdivision of logic, researchers, students and teachers may have a hard time getting an overview of the existing literature, partic ularly if they do not have an extensive library available in their neighbourhood: they simply do not even know what to ask for! More specifically, if someone vaguely knows that something vaguely connected with his interests exists some where in the literature, he may not be able to find it even by searching through the publications scattered in the review journals. Answering this challenge was and is the central motivation for compiling this Bibliography. The Bibliography comprises (presently) the following six volumes (listed with the corresponding Editors): I. Classical Logic W. Rautenberg 11. Non-classical Logics W. Rautenberg 111. Model Theory H.-D. Ebbinghaus IV. Recursion Theory P.G. Hinman V. Set Theory A.R. Blass VI. ProofTheory; Constructive Mathematics J.E. Kister; D. van Dalen & A.S. Troelstra.

Book Integer Programming and Related Areas

Download or read book Integer Programming and Related Areas written by Rabe v. Randow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fields of integer programming and combinatorial optimization continue to be areas of great vitality, with an ever increasing number of publications and journals appearing. A classified bibliography thus continues to be necessary and useful today, even more so than it did when the project, of which this is the fifth volume, was started in 1970 in the Institut fur Okonometrie und Operations Research of the University of Bonn. The pioneering first volume was compiled by Claus Kastning during the years 1970 - 1975 and appeared in 1976 as Volume 128 of the series Lecture Notes in Economics and Mathematical Systems published by the Springer Verlag. Work on the project was continued by Dirk Hausmann, Reinhardt Euler, and Rabe von Randow, and resulted in the publication of the second, third, and fourth volumes in 1978, 1982, and 1985 (Volumes 160, 197, and 243 of the above series). The present book constitutes the fifth volume of the bibliography and covers the period from autumn 1984 to the end of 1987. It contains 5864 new publications by 4480 authors and was compiled by Rabe von Randow. Its form is practically identical to that of the first four volumes, some additions having been made to the subject list.

Book Linear and Nonlinear Functional Analysis with Applications

Download or read book Linear and Nonlinear Functional Analysis with Applications written by Philippe G. Ciarlet and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2013-10-10 with total page 847 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This single-volume textbook covers the fundamentals of linear and nonlinear functional analysis, illustrating most of the basic theorems with numerous applications to linear and nonlinear partial differential equations and to selected topics from numerical analysis and optimization theory. This book has pedagogical appeal because it features self-contained and complete proofs of most of the theorems, some of which are not always easy to locate in the literature or are difficult to reconstitute. It also offers 401 problems and 52 figures, plus historical notes and many original references that provide an idea of the genesis of the important results, and it covers most of the core topics from functional analysis.

Download or read book Indiscrete Thoughts written by Gian-Carlo Rota and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-03 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indiscrete Thoughts gives a glimpse into a world that has seldom been described - that of science and technology as seen through the eyes of a mathematician. The era covered by this book, 1950 to 1990, was surely one of the golden ages of science and of the American university. Cherished myths are debunked along the way as Gian-Carlo Rota takes pleasure in portraying, warts and all, some of the great scientific personalities of the period. Rota is not afraid of controversy. Some readers may even consider these essays indiscreet. This beautifully written book is destined to become an instant classic and the subject of debate for decades to come.
