Book Managing Healthcare Organisations in Challenging Policy Contexts

Download or read book Managing Healthcare Organisations in Challenging Policy Contexts written by Roman Kislov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-09 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healthcare managers, professionals and service users operate in an increasingly complex environment in terms of policy, regulation and governance arrangements. The policy process is becoming pluralised as competing narratives are drawn upon to influence practice. A wide range of contradictory and inconsistent policies are on offer to healthcare stakeholders, which ultimately results in a broad spectrum of responses, adaptations and improvisations throughout the process of policy implementation. The impact on managerial and professional practice is significant: Whilst some voices are suppressed or ignored, the complex nature of contemporary policy contexts can also help local actors exercise their agency and advance their agenda. This edited volume investigates how contemporary policy trends are influencing healthcare systems, organisations and professions and explores the various ways in which policy implementation could be enacted, resisted and reinvented by healthcare managers and professionals on the ground. It sheds light on the complex web of connections that exist between policy development (Part I), its translation into practice (Part II), and the activities of organisational leaders who are trying their best to make sense of – and succeed in – challenging policy contexts (Part III).

Book Policy Analysis in Israel

Download or read book Policy Analysis in Israel written by Gila Menahem and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2016-02-24 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Israel is considered a developed country yet both security issues and its frequently changing demographic makeup set Israel apart and imply that Israeli policy analysts must operate in a unique environment and grapple with exceptional challenges. This volume, part of the successful International Library of Policy Analysis series, brings together for the first time a comprehensive study of policy analysis in Israel. Following an introductory chapter that discusses the paradoxical history of policy analysis in Israel by Yehezkel Dror, leading figures from both the Israeli public and academic spheres discuss different aspects of policy analysis in Israel. While Israeli policy analysis is in some respects unique, Israel also represents a broad category of states that could be considered as policy analysis "late developers". Hence, while Israeli policy analysis is fascinating in and of itself, its study also holds important lessons for other countries.

Download or read book Policies for Distributed Systems and Networks written by Morris Sloman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Policy based systems are the subject of a wide range of activities in univer- ties, standardisation bodies, and within industry. They have a wide spectrum of applications ranging from quality of service management within networks to - curity and enterprise modelling. This Lecture Notes volume collects the papers presented at the workshop on Policies for Distributed Systems and Networks held at the Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Bristol, UK in January 2001. After a rigorous review process 16 papers were selected from 43 submissions. Within the Internet community there is considerable interest in policy based networking. A number of companies have announced tools to support the sp- i?cation and deployment of policies. Much of this work is focused on policies for quality of service management within networks and the Internet Engineering and Distributed Management Task Force (IETF/DMTF) is actively working on standards related to this area. The security community has focused on the speci?cation and analysis of - cess control policy which has evolved into the work on Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). There has been work over a number of years in the academic c- munity on speci?cation and analysis of policies for distributed systems mostly concentrating on authorisation policies. Although there are strong similarities in the concepts and techniques used by the di?erent communities there is no commonly accepted terminology or notation for specifying policies.
