Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, I have covered a broad spectrum of topics in my poetry: faith, hope, charity, and love of God and neighbor, as Christ taught us to do. Subjects include church holy days, life and death, sickness, human relations, nature, humor, the changing seasons, the poor, the abused, the addicted, the homeless, pets, and wildlife. Being a WWII veteran, war and those who have served, been injured or died, the MIAs, and patriotism have always been important in my life. Each holiday or season inspires me to write about the current happenings. No two people see things the same, so I enjoy letting others see into my thoughts at the time a poem was written. Writing poetry is a shorthand to express my feelings and emotions on topics that are important to me. I hope you enjoy my poetry and ramblings through a variety of topics. With God’s help, I shall write as long as I can sit at a keyboard. Thank you for your interest in this endeavor. ***** My Finale I hear the Lord calling, He’s calling me home, that’s why I’m writing, this poet’s last poem. I love You, my dear Lord, when You call, I’ll be there, it is You I’ve adored, You have answered my prayer. When You do call me, I’ll write no more poems, I pray I’ll be taken, to my heavenly home. Bud

Download or read book Teenager written by Bud Smith and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2022-05-10 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two teenagers, in love and insane, journey across the United States in this Bonnie and Clyde–like adventure, pursuing a warped American dream, where Elvis is still king and the corn dog is the “backbone of this great country.” “There is a typo on page 14. Other than that, this book is perfect.” —Bill Callahan “He told her he was a one-woman man and she was it for him. Teal said that was good because he was it for her. It and It. Both of them were It.” Kody Rawlee Green is stuck in juvie. Tella “Teal Cartwheels” Carticelli is packing her bags for Rome--on the orders of her parents, who want her as far from Kody as possible. But teenage love is too strong a force for the obstacles of reality. And the highway beckons. Leaving their abusive pasts behind them in Jersey, Kody and Teal set off on a cross-country road trip equal parts self-destruction and self-discovery, making their way, one stolen car at a time, toward bigger, wider, bluer skies. Along the road, of course, there’s time to stop at Graceland, classic diners, a fairgrounds that smells of “pony shit and kettle corn," and time for run-ins with outsize personalities like the reincarnated Grand Canyon tour guide Dead Bob and the spurious Montana rancher Bill Gold. On their heels, all the while, is Teal’s brother, Neil Carticelli, who’s abandoned his post in the navy to rescue the sister he left behind. But does she really need saving? These all too American tropes find new expression in Bud Smith’s own freewheeling prose—and in Rae Buleri’s original illustrations—filling Teenager with humor, poetry, and a joy that’s palpable in every unforgettable sentence. Download or read book Wounded Bud written by Alfred LaMotte and published by . This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wounded Bud - Poems for Meditation by Alfred K. LaMotte The poet Shelley wrote: "Every original language near to its source is the chaos of a cyclic poem... A poet participates in the eternal, the infinite, and the one." Ancient cultures recognized that the mystery of creation is the mystery of "original language." So John's Gospel declares, "In the beginning was the Word." And India's Mandukya Upanishad says, "All that ever was, is, or will be is created through the syllable Om." The poems in this volume reflect this ancient science of mantra. "Man" is the Sanskrit root of the English "mind" and "tra" of our suffix "tron," meaning vehicle. A mantra is a vehicle to carry the mind back to the source of creation, divine silence. Here in the heart, love awakens. Fred LaMotte conceives language in this ancient tradition, where poetry is a means of taking us home, taking us Om. Many of these poems also reflect the tradition of the mystical marriage. Poets of Eastern and Western religions understood the intimate play of soul and spirit as the whisperings of Lover and Beloved. They created a common poetic iconography, a love-language both sensuous and mystical, which we find in Sufi poets like Hafiz, Hindu poets like Mirabai, the Biblical Song of Songs, the Medieval troubadours, and the parables of Jesus. Mystical poetry can dis- solve religious conflict. Fred LaMotte offers us a revival of atavistic poetics: poetry as meditation, poetry as devotion, or Bhakti, poetry as love-song in the Bridal Chamber of the heart. "In the lover's heart is a lute which plays the melody of longing." Rumi

Download or read book The Poetry of Philip Larkin written by S. N. Prasad and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2022-07-14 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Poetry Of Philip Larkin: A Study In Long Perspectives By: S. N. Prasad The present book is an innovative attempt to give the Philip Larkin criticism a new direction. Early critical writings on Larkin for the most part tried to show him as a provincial poet and his poetic imagination as of a middle-brow kind. However, soon some perceptive readers of his poetry found some of its real value, as a result of which he is now regarded as one of the major British post-modern poets. This book has tried to show that Philip Larkin in his poetry tries to see man in his present existential condition and he sees his future prospects as a species in very long perspectives and, in this respect, besides his many- faceted merit as a true poet, he can and should be seen in the company of great mainstream scientists, philosophers, creative writers and thinkers. Philip Larkin in his major poems aims at giving a therapeutic touch to the ailing human culture. This book has a long INTRODUCTION which tries to show the true origins of man, his physiology and his present psycho-social condition. Views of reputed creative writers, scientists, philosophers and thinkers have been referred to in this connection. In the three middle sections of the book, thirty of Larkin’s poems taken from his three major volumes have been analyzed individually at some length. These analyses reveal some of the very important but hitherto unrevealed aspects of his poetry.
