Book Complementarity Models And Noncooperative Games Static And Dynamic

Download or read book Complementarity Models And Noncooperative Games Static And Dynamic written by Debasish Ghorui and published by Independent Author. This book was released on 2023-05-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Complementarity Models and Noncooperative Games: Static and Dynamic" explores the application of complementarity models in the context of noncooperative games, both in static and dynamic settings. Complementarity models provide a mathematical framework to analyze situations where the decisions of multiple agents or players interact and depend on each other's choices. The research investigates static noncooperative games, where players make decisions simultaneously, considering the interdependence of their choices. Complementarity models allow for the analysis of strategic interactions, such as competition or cooperation, where the outcome for each player depends on the decisions made by others. By employing mathematical formulations and equilibrium concepts, the research delves into understanding the outcomes and strategies in these static noncooperative games. Furthermore, the study explores the application of complementarity models in dynamic noncooperative games, where players make sequential decisions over time. Dynamic games introduce additional complexities, such as intertemporal dependencies, feedback mechanisms, and the possibility of learning and adaptation. Complementarity models offer insights into the strategic behavior and equilibrium concepts in these dynamic settings, enabling the analysis of long-term outcomes and optimal strategies. By examining complementarity models in both static and dynamic noncooperative games, the research contributes to the understanding of strategic decision-making, equilibrium concepts, and the interplay between individual and collective choices. The findings have implications in various fields, including economics, operations research, game theory, and industrial organization. "Complementarity Models and Noncooperative Games: Static and Dynamic" serves as a valuable resource for researchers, economists, policymakers, and professionals interested in strategic decision-making and game theory. By utilizing complementarity models, it becomes possible to analyze complex interactions, understand strategic behaviors, and optimize outcomes in noncooperative game settings, ultimately leading to more informed decision-making processes in various domains.

Book From Catastrophe to Chaos A General Theory of Economic Discontinuities

Download or read book From Catastrophe to Chaos A General Theory of Economic Discontinuities written by J. Barkley Rosser and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Catastrophe to Chaos: A General Theory of Economic Discontinuities presents and unusual perspective on economics and economic analysis. Current economic theory largely depends upon assuming that the world is fundamentally continuous. However, an increasing amount of economic research has been done using approaches that allow for discontinuities such as catastrophe theory, chaos theory, synergetics, and fractal geometry. The spread of such approaches across a variety of disciplines of thought has constituted a virtual intellectual revolution in recent years. This book reviews the applications of these approaches in various subdisciplines of economics and draws upon past economic thinkers to develop an integrated view of economics as a whole from the perspective of inherent discontinuity.

Book Linear Programming

Download or read book Linear Programming written by Robert J. Vanderbei and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-25 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides a broad introduction to both the theory and the application of optimization with a special emphasis on the elegance, importance, and usefulness of the parametric self-dual simplex method. The book assumes that a problem in “standard form,” is a problem with inequality constraints and nonnegative variables. The main new innovation to the book is the use of clickable links to the (newly updated) online app to help students do the trivial but tedious arithmetic when solving optimization problems. The latest edition now includes: a discussion of modern Machine Learning applications, as motivational material; a section explaining Gomory Cuts and an application of integer programming to solve Sudoku problems. Readers will discover a host of practical business applications as well as non-business applications. Topics are clearly developed with many numerical examples worked out in detail. Specific examples and concrete algorithms precede more abstract topics. With its focus on solving practical problems, the book features free C programs to implement the major algorithms covered, including the two-phase simplex method, the primal-dual simplex method, the path-following interior-point method, and and the homogeneous self-dual method. In addition, the author provides online tools that illustrate various pivot rules and variants of the simplex method, both for linear programming and for network flows. These C programs and online pivot tools can be found on the book's website. The website also includes new online instructional tools and exercises.

Book A Characterization of Strategic Complementarities

Download or read book A Characterization of Strategic Complementarities written by Federico Echenique and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I characterize games for which there is an order on strategies such that the game has strategic complementarities. I prove that, with some qualifications, games with a unique equilibrium have complementarities if and only if Cournot best-response dynamics has no cycles; and that all games with multiple equilibria have complementarities. As applications of my results, I show: 1. That generic 2X2 games either have no pure-strategy equilibria, or have complementarities. 2. That generic two-player finite ordinal potential games have complementarities.

Download or read book Completing Distinctions written by Douglas G. Flemons and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2001-05-01 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Completing Distinctions develops a new way of thinking about the connection between problems and solutions for family and systems therapists. The author suggests that addiction and other social and ecological dilemmas stem from the belief that distinctions such as hate and love, sickness and health, or problem and solution are irreconcilable oppositions. Flemons shows how much separations can be completed so that genuine healing can occur in individuals, families, organizations, and ecologies. Written in a playful style, the book includes short client-therapist dialogues that illustrate the author's approach.

Book Postinternationalism and the Rise of Heterarchy

Download or read book Postinternationalism and the Rise of Heterarchy written by Ramjit, Dana-Marie and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2024-10-03 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The traditional concept of the nation-state as the key player in global affairs is being challenged by the forces of globalization, technological progress, and new forms of governance. These shifts are introducing complexities and uncertainties into international relations, which are leaving scholars, policymakers, and students struggling to keep up with the evolving landscape. The concepts of 'postinternationalism' and 'heterarchy' present promising but largely unexplored frameworks for understanding these dynamics, making a comprehensive resource to navigate this transformation an urgent necessity. Postinternationalism and the Rise of Heterarchy addresses the need to examine postinternationalism and heterarchy as alternative frameworks thoroughly. It compiles chapters that explore theoretical perspectives, empirical case studies, and practical implications across disciplines like political science, international relations, sociology, economics, and law. The book provides a nuanced understanding of the reconfiguration of power and governance in the modern world by investigating the impact of non-state actors, technology, global economic trends, and transnational social movements.

This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'This is a high-quality book on an important and central topic in the theory of industrial organisation. It is a cohesive and extremely well written volume which is destined to become a standard work on the subject.' - Mark Casson, University of Reading, UK This original new book offers a comprehensive and engaging perspective on the theory of vertical differentiation. It enables the reader to grasp the key concepts and effects that product quality has both on firms' behaviour and market structure, and the ways in which this relationship has evolved. With contributions from prominent figures in the field, the book investigates a number of important topics, such as the choice of the optimal product range, profit sharing, the existence of equilibrium in duopoly games, positional effects attached to status goods, international trade, collusion, advertising and the dynamics of capital accumulation for quality improvement and product innovation. Using both static and dynamic approaches, these aspects are assessed in relation to the manifold issues of regulation, competition policy and trade policy. Product differentiation and its influence on consumer behaviour and the performance of firms is a core topic in the existing literature in the fields of industrial organization, international trade and economic growth. This book will be an essential read for researchers, students and professional scholars working in these areas, especially those with an interest in antitrust regulation.
