Book Analysis of Structures on Elastic Foundations

Download or read book Analysis of Structures on Elastic Foundations written by Edward Tsudik and published by J. Ross Publishing. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis of Structures on Elastic Foundations is a practical guide for structural and geotechnical engineers as well as graduate students working in foundation engineering. Included are detailed descriptions of practical methods of analysis of various foundations including simple beams on elastic foundations as well as very complex foundations such as mat foundations supported on piles. Methods for fast and easy hand analysis in addition to methods for exact computer analysis are presented. Most of the methods are developed for three soil models: Winkler foundation, elastic half-spaces, and elastic layers. Numerous numerical examples illustrate the applications of these methods.

Book Plates on Elastic Foundations Under Static and Dynamic Loading Volume II Traveling Loads on Elastic Foundation

Download or read book Plates on Elastic Foundations Under Static and Dynamic Loading Volume II Traveling Loads on Elastic Foundation written by M. Hetenyi and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report treats several problems for steady-state response of an infinite plate on a Winkler foundation subject to traveling concentrated forces. In the mathematical analysis, a superposition technique was used and reduced the separate loads on a plate analogous to one plate subjected to line loads. This simplification allows an exact and complete solution for the problem of moving concentrated forces. The technique of superposition is now feasible due to the use of modern high-speed computers. Book Vibration of Mindlin Plates

Download or read book Vibration of Mindlin Plates written by K.M. Liew and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-11-10 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last several years, the four authors have jointly conducted research into the analysis of vibrating Mindlin plates as a collaborative project between Nanyang Technological University, The National University of Singapore, and The University of Queensland. The research was prompted by the fact that there is a dearth of vibration results for Mindlin plates when compared to classical thin plate solutions. To generate the vibration results, the authors have successfully employed the Ritz method for general plate shapes and boundary conditions. The Ritz method, once thought to be awkward for general plate analysis, can be automated through suitable trial functions (for displacements) that satisfy the geometric plate boundary conditions a priori. This work has been well-received by academics and researchers, as indicated by the continual requests for the authors' papers and the Ritz software codes. This monograph is written with the view to share this so-called p-Ritz method for the vibration analysis of Mindlin plates and its software codes with the research community. To the authors' knowledge, the monograph contains the first published Ritz plate software codes of its kind.

Book Shell Structures Theory and Applications Volume 4

Download or read book Shell Structures Theory and Applications Volume 4 written by Wojciech Pietraszkiewicz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 942 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shells are basic structural elements of modern technology and everyday life. Examples of shell structures in technology include automobile bodies, water and oil tanks, pipelines, silos, wind turbine towers, and nanotubes. Nature is full of living shells such as leaves of trees, blooming flowers, seashells, cell membranes or wings of insects. In the human body arteries, the eye shell, the diaphragm, the skin and the pericardium are all shells as well. Shell Structures: Theory and Applications, Volume 4 contains 132 contributions presented at the 11th Conference on Shell Structures: Theory and Applications (Gdansk, Poland, 11-13 October 2017). The papers reflect a wide spectrum of scientific and engineering problems from theoretical modelling through strength, stability and dynamic behaviour, numerical analyses, biomechanic applications up to engineering design of shell structures. Shell Structures: Theory and Applications, Volume 4 will be of interest to academics, researchers, designers and engineers dealing with modelling and analyses of shell structures. It may also provide supplementary reading to graduate students in Civil, Mechanical, Naval and Aerospace Engineering.

Book Thermoelasticity

    Book Details:
  • Author : Witold Nowacki
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2013-10-22
  • ISBN : 1483162486
  • Pages : 579 pages

Download or read book Thermoelasticity written by Witold Nowacki and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermoelasticity, Second Edition reviews advances in thermoelasticity and covers topics ranging from stationary problems of thermoelasticity to variational theorems of stationary thermoelasticity; stresses due to the action of a discontinuous temperature field in an infinite elastic body; the action of heat sources in the elastic space; and thermal inclusions in an infinite disc and semi-infinite disc. Three different sets of differential equations describing the fields of strain and temperature are presented. This book is comprised of 12 chapters and begins with a discussion on basic relations and equations of thermoelasticity. Thermoelasticity is treated as a synthesis of the theory of elasticity and the theory of heat conduction. Some particular cases of thermoelasticity are then investigated, including stationary problems, the theory of thermal stresses, and classical dynamic elasticity. Dynamic effects due to the action of a non-stationary temperature field are examined, along with plane harmonic waves in an elastic space and thermal stresses in plates, shells, and viscoelastic bodies. The final chapter focuses on micropolar thermoelasticity, magnetothermoelasticity, and thermopiezoelectricity. This monograph will be of interest to physicists and mechanical engineers.

Book Asymptotic Theory Of Anisotropic Plates And Shells

Download or read book Asymptotic Theory Of Anisotropic Plates And Shells written by Lenser A Aghalovyan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2015-03-03 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A consistent theory for thin anisotropic layered structures is developed starting from asymptotic analysis of 3D equations in linear elasticity. The consideration is not restricted to the traditional boundary conditions along the faces of the structure expressed in terms of stresses, originating a new type of boundary value problems, which is not governed by the classical Kirchhoff-Love assumptions. More general boundary value problems, in particular related to elastic foundations are also studied. The general asymptotic approach is illustrated by a number of particular problems for elastic and thermoelastic beams and plates. For the latter, the validity of derived approximate theories is investigated by comparison with associated exact solution. The author also develops an asymptotic approach to dynamic analysis of layered media composed of thin layers motivated by modeling of engineering structures under seismic excitation.
