Book Security Operations

Download or read book Security Operations written by Robert H. Deatherage, Jr. and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Security Operations: An Introduction to Planning and Conducting Private Security Details for High-Risk Areas, Second Edition was written for one primary purpose: to keep people alive by introducing them to private security detail tactics and techniques. The book provides an understanding the basic concepts and rules that need to be followed in protective services, including what comprises good security practice. This Second Edition is fully updated to include new case scenarios, threat vectors, and new ambush ploys and attack tactics used by opportunistic predators and seasoned threat actors with ever-advanced, sophisticated schemes. Security has always been a necessity for conducting business operations in both low- and high-risk, regardless of the threat level in the operating environment. Overseas, those with new ideas or businesses, can frequently be targets for both political and criminal threat agents intent on doing harm. Even in the United States, people become targets because of positions held, publicity, politics, economics, or other issues that create unwanted attention to a person, their family, or business operations. Security Operations, Second Edition provides an introduction of what duties a security detail should perform and how to effectively carry out those duties. The book can be used by a person traveling with a single bodyguard or someone being moved by a full security detail. Features include: Identifies what can pose a threat, how to recognize threats, and where threats are most likely to be encountered Presents individuals and companies with the security and preparedness tools to protect themselves when operating in various environments, especially high-risk regions Provides an understanding of operational security when in transit, to vary route selection, and keep destinations and movement plans out of the public view Outlines the tools and techniques needed for people to become security conscious, and situationally aware, for their own safety and the safety of those close to them An equal help to those just entering the protection business or people and companies that are considering hiring a security detail, Security Operations is a thorough, detailed and responsible approach to this serious and often high-risk field"--

Book Military Planning in the Twentieth Century

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essays, commentaries, and speeches which form this volume were presented at the Eleventh Military History Symposium, held at the United States Air Force Academy on 10-12 October 1984. This conference is a biennial event sponsored jointly by the Department of History and the Association of Graduates of the United States Air Force Academy. Begun in 1967, the series seeks to address problems in military history which have received limited attention and to provide a forum in which scholars may present the results of their research. In this manner we hope to stimulate and encourage interest in military history among civilian and military scholars, members of the armed forces, and the cadets of the United States Air Force Academy.

Book The Future of U S Empire in the Americas

Download or read book The Future of U S Empire in the Americas written by Timothy M. Gill and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-03-12 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the rise of President Trump, many are coming to question where the United States (U.S.) is headed and, whether we might witness an imperial decline under Trump. Social scientists largely recognize the contemporary hegemonic position of the U.S. at the global level, but questions persist concerning the future of the U.S. Empire. With the Trump Administration at the helm, these questions are all the more salient. Drawing on the expertise of a panel of contributors and guided by Michael Mann’s model of power, this book critically interrogates the future of U.S. global power and provides insights on what we might expect from the U.S. Empire under Trump. Recognizing that U.S. imperial power involves an array of sources of power (ideological, economic, military, and political), the contributors analyze the Trump Administration’s approach towards nine countries in the Western Hemisphere, and five sets of global policies, including inter-American relations, drugs, trade, the environment, and immigration. Each case presents a historical look at the trajectory of relations as they have developed under Trump and what we might expect in the future from the administration. The Future of U.S. Empire in the Americas will be of great interest to students and scholars of U.S. foreign policy, Foreign Policy Analysis, political sociology, and American politics.

Book Cooperation and Drug Policies in the Americas

Download or read book Cooperation and Drug Policies in the Americas written by Roberto Zepeda and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2014-12-18 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume examines drug policies and the role of cooperation in the Americas. Many current and former politicians have discussed the failures of the war on drugs and the need for alternative approaches. Uruguay as well as Colorado and Washington have legalized marijuana. The Organization of American states produced a report in 2013 which discussed alternative policy options to the drug war. This work examines the nature of cooperation and drug policies in the twenty-first century in the Americas, highlighting the major challenges and obstacles. The argument is that one country cannot solve drug trafficking as it is a transnational problem. Therefore, the producing, consuming, and transit countries must work together and cooperate.

Book Defined Contribution Plans Challenges and Opportunities for Plan Sponsors

Download or read book Defined Contribution Plans Challenges and Opportunities for Plan Sponsors written by Jeffery V. Bailey and published by CFA Institute Research Foundation. This book was released on 2021-08-11 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American workers rely on their employers to provide a way to generate retirement income beyond their Social Security earnings. Many employers still offer traditional defined benefit (DB) pension plans. A growing majority, however, have replaced DB plans with account-based defined contribution (DC) plans. Virtually everyone acknowledges that the basic DC plan design is flawed. Yet as a society with low private savings and a fraying Social Security system, we count on this imperfect structure to serve as a retirement security bulwark. Workers and society both need the employer-sponsored retirement system to function well. Enhancing DC plan design therefore becomes critical. Defined Contribution Plans: Challenges and Opportunities for Plan Sponsors offers guidance to plan sponsors interested in better understanding the primary issues confronting DC plans. We wrote this book from the viewpoint of the plan sponsor seeking to improve the DC system, and it follows five major themes: the plan participant, the plan sponsor, plan design, investments and investment managers, and asset decumulation in retirement. We present the material conversationally from a high-level perspective. We have not sought to write an encyclopedia on DC plans but rather focus on the basic features of well-run plans. We address key challenges facing DC plans and offer associated design and policy recommendations for plan sponsors and other interested parties to consider. Plan design improvements almost certainly will be incremental, rather than sweeping top-down changes mandated by regulators. Plan sponsors individually will make the important decisions that have lasting consequences for participants and for society. Our objective is to spark interest among sponsors, encouraging them to carry out additional research and take action. We believe the DC system will be strengthened by informed sponsors advocating for and implementing thoughtful strategic changes to their plans.

Book The Obama Doctrine in the Americas

Download or read book The Obama Doctrine in the Americas written by Hanna Samir Kassab and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2016-02-04 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume examines the foreign policy transition from George W. Bush to Barack H. Obama in relation to the countries of the Americas. In this work, contributors consider the major defining features of their respective policies in dealing with security-related issues. Specifically, they examine whether major differences or continuities truly exist between the foreign policies of Bush and Obama, especially given the perception of American decline. The volume highlights Obama’s foreign policy in the Americas, focusing on issue areas that threaten international security, such as drug trafficking, organized crime, and terrorism. This work provides both theoretical and policy insights for academics and policy analysts interested in foreign affairs.
