Download or read book Planetary Loves written by Stephen D. Moore and published by Fordham Univ Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Postcolonial theology has recently emerged as a site of intense intellectual and political energy and has taken its place in the interdisciplinary field of postcolonial studies. This volume is animated by the conviction that postcolonial theology is now ready for a second, deeper phase of engagement with postcolonial theory, one that moves beyond the general to the specific. No critic has been more emblematic of the challenging and contested field of postcolonial theory than Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak. In this volume, the product of a theological colloquium in which Spivak herself participated, theologians and biblical scholars engage with her thought in order to catalyze a diverse range of original theological and exegetical projects. The volume opens with a "topography" of postcolonial theology and also includes other valuable introductory essays. At the center of the collection are transcriptions of two extended public dialogues with Spivak on theology and religion in general. A further dozen essays appropriate Spivak's work for theological and ethical reflection. The volume is also significant for the larger field of postcolonial studies in that it is the first to focus centrally on Spivak's immensely suggestive and vital concept of "planetarity."

Download or read book Planetary Atmospheres and Urban Society After Fukushima written by Christophe Thouny and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-13 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection examines the event of Fukushima in Japan in terms of urban sociology and cultural politics to portray the triple catastrophe of March 2011 as both a planetary event and a dual economic and environmental crisis which indelibly marked Japan and the wider global community. The contributors examine how this new situation has been expressed in particular cultural forms (literature, film), political discourses and urban everyday life in Tokyo and Fukushima, arguing for an imperative need to redefine the national frame of analysis in terms of the concept of the planetary. Building on recent debates in ecocriticism, Planetary Atmospheres and Urban Life After Fukushima deconstructs the spatial logic of containment that reduces the event of Fukushima to a place-bound object to instead reinscribe this event within an open narrative of the planetary. This we believe will allow us to redefine our topologies of attachment to local places beside national discourses of unity, resilience and global strategies of risk management, and open the way to a radical rethink of Japan’s cultural politics of Japan after March 2011.
Download or read book A New Tree of Life for Planetary Ascension written by David K. Miller and published by Light Technology Publishing. This book was released on 2014-02-28 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David K. Miller has teamed up with Torah scholar and Kabbalist expert Mordechai Yashin, who resides in Jerusalem, Israel, to bring you A New Tree of Life for Planetary Ascension, which is based on unique lectures and classes David and Mordechai gave over an eight-month period between 2012 and 2013. It functions as a manual explaining the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and the Arcturian Planetary Tree of Life, which is an expansion of the concepts contained in the Kabbalistic tree. The idea behind the Arcturian Planetary Tree of Life is to demonstrate through a paradigm shift how planetary energies can be used to rebalance our planet. The basic assumption is that Earth is currently unbalanced due to a variety of factors, including environmental contamination, global warming, and usage and extinctions of forests and ocean life on a mass basis. It must be pointed out that David has been working with the Arcturians to further upgrade the Planetary Tree of Life. This upgrade includes one completely new sphere that relates to the ascension and to the fifth dimension. This new sphere will be described in detail to explain how to use the new energy. Includes: Great pictorial descriptions of the Hebrew letters Detailed Kabbalistic map and paradigm of the Tree of Life Hebrew terminology and numbers relating to the Tree of Life Featured channelings through David K. Miller

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to celestial mechanics for advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and researchers new to the field Celestial mechanics—the study of the movement of planets, satellites, and smaller bodies such as comets—is one of the oldest subjects in the physical sciences. Since the mid-twentieth century, the field has experienced a renaissance due to advances in space flight, digital computing, numerical mathematics, nonlinear dynamics, and chaos theory, and the discovery of exoplanets. This modern, authoritative introduction to planetary system dynamics reflects these recent developments and discoveries and is suitable for advanced undergraduate and graduate students as well as researchers. The book treats both traditional subjects, such as the two-body and three-body problems, lunar theory, and Hamiltonian perturbation theory, as well as a diverse range of other topics, including chaos in the solar system, comet dynamics, extrasolar planets, planetesimal dynamics, resonances, tidal friction and disruption, and more. The book provides readers with all the core concepts, tools, and methods needed to conduct research in the subject. Provides an authoritative introduction that reflects recent advances in the field Topics treated include Andoyer variables, co-orbital satellites and quasi-satellites, Hill’s problem, the Milankovich equations, Colombo’s top and Cassini states, the Yarkovsky and YORP effects, orbit determination for extrasolar planets, and more More than 100 end-of-book problems elaborate on concepts not fully covered in the main text Appendixes summarize the necessary background material Suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students; some knowledge of Hamiltonian mechanics and methods of mathematical physics (vectors, matrices, special functions, etc.) required Solutions manual available on request for instructors who adopt the book for a course

Book excerpt: Planetary Transit and Dasa ‘A subject is subjected to changes’ – is a Proverb applicable equally from the environment of nature to humans in their endeavors. This is mainly due to cosmic changes and the effects of five elements of nature. Transit of Planets both annual and monthly influences human life. The changes sustain during the MahaDasa, AntharDasa (Bukthi in Tamil), and PrithyantharDasa of a Planet. Both transits of a Planet and the MahaDasa in operation complementas well influence each other. This book reveals the benefits offered by Planetary combinations, their bhava results during their transit. A detailed explanation of Kharaga-Bhavaga and Bhavaga results along with the rules governing MahaDasa, AntharDasa, and PrithyantharDasa is given. As a new feature, the MahaDasa effects of Planets posited in succession, of Planets in confrontation, a subject not so commonly discussed has been presented here. Subjects of frequent discussion like Marriage, foreign travel, business, the progeny has got a mention here along with a few tips on the effects of annual transit Planets. Merits of this book can be felt over time.

Download or read book Erotic Faith written by Mari Kim and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-03-24 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thought of contemporary North American theologian and ethicist Wendy Farley is an unflinching clarion call to justice and compassion. Farley invites us to discover ways of embodying the deep compassion capable of resisting pernicious distortions and traumatizing injustices that harm and dehumanize us all. This volume of essays embodies her invitation to awaken as beloved community. And when we are overwhelmed by the magnitude of struggle and despair, Farley reminds us that the powerful longing of hope, at times against all evidence, refuses to give up on seeking justice and wholeness. Compassionate justice, radical hospitality, creative liberation, and deep listening emerge as more than ethical values for Farley; they are expressions of erotic faith, a praxis of faithfulness born of divine desire. These writings explore transformative perspectives and practices that have the capacity to help us recover and author our identity as the "god-bearers" we are. Erotic faith embodies the love-seeking persistence of divine faithfulness necessary to transform us from within; it meets the truth of human harm, vulnerability, and suffering by offering a complex, struggling, unscripted creativity capable of remaking us, and our world, until the beloved community is whole.
