Book Boundary Integrals in Plane Elasticity with Mixed Boundary Conditions

Download or read book Boundary Integrals in Plane Elasticity with Mixed Boundary Conditions written by Ahmed Ghaleb and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this book is to present a low cost, efficient semi-analytical scheme to solve the static, plane problems of elasticity in stresses for homogeneous, isotropic media occupying a long cylinder with simply connected normal cross-section and subjected to mixed boundary conditions on the lateral surface. The method relies on the use of boundary integrals and provides approximate solutions. Besides test problems, the cases of the circular and elliptical boundaries are considered. The boundary singularity of the solution is put in evidence. It is hoped that the material contained in this book will benefit to researchers involved in research work in the fields of plane linear elasticity with mixed boundary conditions and partial differential equations relating to the biharmonic equation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an epoch-making paper entitled "On an approximate solution for the bending of a beam of rectangular cross-section under any system of load with special reference to points of concentrated or discontinuous loading", received by the Royal Society on June 12, 1902, L. N. G. FlLON introduced the notion of what was subsequently called by LovE "general ized plane stress". In the same paper FlLO~ also gave the fundamental equations which express the displacement (u, v) in terms of the complex variable. The three basic equations of the theory of KoLOsov (1909) which was subsequently developed and improved by MUSKHELISHVILI (1915 and onwards) can be derived directly from Filon's equations. The derivation is indicated by FlLO)!E~KO-BoRODICH. Although FILO)! proceeded at once to the real variable, historically he is the founder of the modern theory of the application of the complex variable to plane elastic problems. The method was developed independently by A. C. STEVEXSOX in a paper received by the Royal Society in 1940 but which was not published, for security reasons, until 1945.

Book On Solving Boundary Value Problems of the Plane Moment Theory of Elasticity for Infinite Multiply Connected Domains

Download or read book On Solving Boundary Value Problems of the Plane Moment Theory of Elasticity for Infinite Multiply Connected Domains written by V. P. Tretyak and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic boundary value problems of the plane moment theory of elasticity are considered for infinite domains weakened by a finite number of arbitrarily situated non-contiguous circular holes. Existence and uniqueness are proved of the solution of the obtained infinite systems of algebraic equations under sufficiently common forms of boundary conditions. (Modified author abstract).

Book Boundary Integral Equation Solution of Plane Elasticity Problems with High Stress Concentrations

Download or read book Boundary Integral Equation Solution of Plane Elasticity Problems with High Stress Concentrations written by Hassan Nikooyeh and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A numerical method for determination of stresses in two-dimensional elastic bodies with high stress concentrations is presented. Major emphasis is placed on bodies with a notch having a fillet of small radius and bodies with a crack of small width. These static boundary value problems are formulated in terms of boundary integral equations of a type used previously by Barone and Robinson for sharp notches and cracks. For the fillet problem a small inner region containing the fillet and bounded by a circle is separated out and analyzed numerically under the loading system of each of the Williams' solution of the corresponding sharp notch. The results are then used to develop analytical solutions for the intermediate region adjacent to the fillet region. In this way the details of the boundary configuration of the fillet is reflected in a set of generalized displacements which characterize the intermediate field.

Book Boundary Integral Equations in Elasticity Theory

Download or read book Boundary Integral Equations in Elasticity Theory written by A.M. Linkov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: by the author to the English edition The book aims to present a powerful new tool of computational mechanics, complex variable boundary integral equations (CV-BIE). The book is conceived as a continuation of the classical monograph by N. I. Muskhelishvili into the computer era. Two years have passed since the Russian edition of the present book. We have seen growing interest in numerical simulation of media with internal structure, and have evidence of the potential of the new methods. The evidence was especially clear in problems relating to multiple grains, blocks, cracks, inclusions and voids. This prompted me, when preparing the English edition, to place more emphasis on such topics. The other change was inspired by Professor Graham Gladwell. It was he who urged me to abridge the chain of formulae and to increase the number of examples. Now the reader will find more examples showing the potential and advantages of the analysis. The first chapter of the book contains a simple exposition of the theory of real variable potentials, including the hypersingular potential and the hypersingular equations. This makes up for the absence of such exposition in current textbooks, and reveals important links between the real variable BIE and the complex variable counterparts. The chapter may also help readers who are learning or lecturing on the boundary element method.
