Download or read book L inexistence du temps written by Patrice F. Dassonville and published by Persee. This book was released on 2012 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Time and Uncertainty

Download or read book Time and Uncertainty written by Paul Andre Harris and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essays in this volume all originated at the 2001 conference of the International Society for the Study of Time. The theme 'Time and Uncertainty' sounds redundant, but the contributions try to come to terms with the irreducible openness of time and the impermanence of life. The essays from various disciplines have been grouped around 'fracture and rupture' (grappling with time and uncertainty as a breach) and 'rapture and structure (solving uncertainty into pattern).

Book Formalized Music

Download or read book Formalized Music written by Iannis Xenakis and published by Pendragon Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pendragon Press is proud to offer this new, revised, and expanded edition of Formalized Music, Iannis Xenakis's landmark book of 1971. In addition to three totally new chapters examining recent breakthroughs in music theory, two original computer programs illustrating the actual realization of newly proposed methods of composition, and an appendix of the very latest developments of stochastic synthesis as an invitation to future exploration, Xenakis offers a very critical self-examination of his theoretical propositions and artistic output of the past thirty-five years. This edition of Formalized Music is an essential tool for understanding the man and the thought processes of one of this century's most important and revolutionary musical figures.

Book Time and Consistent Relativity

Download or read book Time and Consistent Relativity written by Lyubomir T. Gruyitch and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2015-05-08 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time and Consistent Relativity: Physical and Mathematical Fundamentals establishes a new and original theory of time relativity, which is fully consistent. It explains why Einstein's theory of time relativity is physically meaningless and mathematically based on tacit inacceptable assumptions, and why it represents the singular case from the mathem

Book Foundations of Meta technics

Download or read book Foundations of Meta technics written by Ernesto Mayz Vallenilla and published by University Press of America. This book was released on 2004 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Foundations of Meta-Technics is a rigorous phenomenological analysis of the transcendence of anthropomorphic, anthropocentric, and geocentric technology in terms of the new meta-technical forms of space and time. The book draws out the epistemological and ontological implications of an emerging meta-technical supernature in which space and time are perceived by trans-human means and from trans-terrestrial perspectives. This book is especially valuable to philosophers in either the phenomenological or continental tradition.

Download or read book Temps devenir written by Ilya Prigogine and published by Les Editions Fides. This book was released on 1994 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. "

Book Dynamical Systems and Microphysics

Download or read book Dynamical Systems and Microphysics written by Andre Avez and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamical Systems and Microphysics: Geometry and Mechanics contains the proceedings of the Second International Seminar on Mathematical Theory of Dynamical Systems and Microphysics held at the International Center for Mechanical Sciences in Udine, Italy on September 1-11, 1981. Contributors explore the geometry and mechanics of dynamical systems and microphysics and cover topics ranging from Lagrangian submanifolds and optimal control theory to Hamiltonian mechanics, linear dynamical systems, and the quantum theory of measurement. This volume is organized into six sections encompassing 30 chapters and begins with an introduction to geometric structures, mechanics, and general relativity. It considers an approach to quantum mechanics through deformation of the symplectic structure, giving a striking insight into the correspondence principle. The chapters that follow focus on the gauge invariance of the Einstein field, group treatment of the space of orbits in the Kepler problem, and stable configurations in nonlinear problems arising from physics. This book is intended for researchers and graduate students in theoretical physics, mechanics, control and system theory, and mathematics. It will also be profitably read by philosophers of science and, to some extent, by persons who have a keen interest in basic questions of contemporary mechanics and physics and some background in the physical and mathematical sciences.

Book Le discours aspectualis

Download or read book Le discours aspectualis written by Jacques Fontanille and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 1991-01-01 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Speech and Reasoning in Everyday Life

Download or read book Speech and Reasoning in Everyday Life written by Uli Windisch and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1990-05-03 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the nature and operation of social thought and language as used in everyday life, and looks at social thinking through the complex patternings and functions of discourse. It is based on extensive empirical evidence about the language of contemporary racism and nationalism, drawn from the vast corpus of the discourse of Swiss racism gathered by the author from a variety of written and spoken sources. Three principal investigations, of sociocentrism, causality and the perception of time, are used to sinuate and define the nature and working of everyday speech and reasoning. First published in English in 1990, Speech and Reasoning in Everyday Life is a major contribution to the analysis of the discourse of contemporary ideology and politics. Its theoretical contribution makes this work richly deserving of an introduction to an English-speaking audience of sociologists, social psychologists and anthropologists.

Book Acting under Uncertainty

Download or read book Acting under Uncertainty written by George M. von Furstenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uncertainty could be associated with wisdom, enterprise, and discovery. In ordinary speech, however, it has mostly negative connotations. There is "fear of the unknown" and "ignorance is bliss;" there are maxims to the effect that "what you don't know doesn't hurt you" (or: "bother you") in several languages. This volume suggests that we need be bothered by the excessive confidence with which scientists, particularly social scientists, present some of their conclusions and overstate their range of application. Otherwise many of the questions that should be raised about all the major uncertainties attending a particular issue routinely may continue to be thwarted or suppressed. Down playing uncertainty does not lead to more responsible or surer action, it sidetracks research agendas, and leaves the decision makers exposed to nasty surprise. This volume demonstrates that recognizing the many forms of uncertainty that enter into the development of any particular subject matter is a precondition for more responsible choice and deeper knowledge. Our purpose is to contribute to a broader appreciation of uncertainty than regularly accorded in any of the numerous disciplines represented here. The seventeenth-century French philosopher Descartes, quoted in this volume, wrote that "whoever is searching after truth must, once in his life, doubt all things; insofar as this is possible. " White areas left on maps of the world in past centuries were a much more productive challenge than marking the end of the known world with the pillars of Hercules.
