Book Polymers and Multicomponent Polymeric Systems

Download or read book Polymers and Multicomponent Polymeric Systems written by Jose James and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, multicomponent polymers have generated much interest due to their excellent properties, unique morphology and high-end applications. Book focusses on thermal, thermo-mechanical and dielectric analysis of polymers and multicomponent polymeric systems like blends, interpenetrating polymeric networks (IPNs), gels, polymer composites, nanocomposites. Through these analyses, it provides an insight into the stability of polymer systems as a function of time, processing and usage. Aimed at polymer chemists, physicists and engineers, it also covers ASTM /ISO and other standards of various measurement techniques for systematic analysis in materials science.

Download or read book Polymer Chemistry written by Bruno Vollmert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is, at present, no scarcity of polymer textbooks in the English language. Some of them attempt to cover the entire field, others focus their attention on certain parts of it, e.g., organic chemistry, physical chemistry, solid state physics, etc. This situation must necessarily raise the question, "Why publish another book?" and, even more, "Why translate a book which exists already in German?" and is to a lesser or greater extent legible and comprehensible to many English speaking scientists. It appears that a justification can be found in the special character of its content and presentation. As far as content is concerned, Vollmert's book is more encompassing than most existing treatises and, in this sense, almost represents a hybrid between a "textbook" and a "handbook." Numerous figures and tables convey directly a wealth of data. On the other hand, the text is designed to be educational and, in many instances, goes a long way to explain why certain properties are observed and why certain processes take place. These excursions into the intellectual clarification of somewhat complicated phenomena are a refreshing and unusual interruption of the main stream which presents synthesis, characteriza tion and properties of polymeric systems in the classical way.

Book High Pressure Chemistry and Physics of Polymers

Download or read book High Pressure Chemistry and Physics of Polymers written by A.L. Kovarskii and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-02-03 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-Pressure Chemistry and Physics of Polymers is devoted to covering all areas of high-pressure polymer materials science. Topics addressed include the synthesis of polymers, changes in reactivity, structural transformations, molecular dynamics, relaxation processes, deformational properties, chemical modification, and the effect of shock waves and shear stresses. The authors' contributions reflect over 60 years of Soviet study in the field of physico-chemistry conducted at the major former Soviet Institutes of Chemical Physics, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry. Fundamental topics such as compressibility of polymers, polymerization under pressure, viscoelastic/deformational properties, and polymer modification are discussed with an eye toward materials development for improving physical models and methods of calculating the changing parameters of materials under pressure. The book is a valuable reference to data on mechanisms of physical and chemical processes, in addition to new experimental data for improving physical models and methods of calculating changes in material characteristics under compression loads. High-Pressure Chemistry and Physics of Polymers will be an important reference for graduate students and practicing professionals in polymer chemistry and polymeric materials.

Book CRC Handbook of Thermodynamic Data of Polymer Solutions at Elevated Pressures

Download or read book CRC Handbook of Thermodynamic Data of Polymer Solutions at Elevated Pressures written by Christian Wohlfarth and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-01-27 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides the only complete collection of high-pressure thermodynamic data that is essential for understanding polymer solutions. It contains data on vapor-liquid equilibria and gas solubilities, liquid-liquid equilibria, high-pressure fluid phase equilibria for polymer systems in supercritical fluids, enthalpic and volumetric data, as well as second virial coefficients all at elevated pressures. It covers all areas needed by researchers and engineers who handle polymer systems in supercritical fluids; materials science and technological applications such as computerized predictive packages; and chemical and biochemical processes, such as synthesis and characterization, fractionation, separation, purification, and finishing of polymers and related materials.

Book Physical Chemistry of Polymer Solutions

Download or read book Physical Chemistry of Polymer Solutions written by K. Kamide and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-10-16 with total page 675 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is mainly concerned with building a narrow but secure ladder which polymer chemists or engineers can climb from the primary level to an advanced level without great difficulty (but by no means easily, either). This book describes some fundamentally important topics, carefully chosen, covering subjects from thermodynamics to molecular weight and its distribution effects. For help in self-education the book adopts a "Questions and Answers" format. The mathematical derivation of each equation is shown in detail. For further reading, some original references are also given. Numerous physical properties of polymer solutions are known to be significantly different from those of low molecular weight solutions. The most probable explanation of this obvious discrepancy is the large molar volume ratio of solute to solvent together with the large number of consecutive segments that constitute each single molecule of the polymer chains present as solute. Thorough understanding of the physical chemistry of polymer solutions requires some prior mathematical background in its students. In the original literature, detailed mathematical derivations of the equations are universally omitted for the sake of space-saving and simplicity. In textbooks of polymer science only extremely rough schemes of the theories and then the final equations are shown. As a consequence, the student cannot learn, unaided, the details of the theory in which he or she is interested from the existing textbooks; however, without a full understanding of the theory, one cannot analyze actual experimental data to obtain more basic and realistic physical quantities. In particular, if one intends to apply the theories in industry, accurate understanding and ability to modify the theory are essential.
