Book Mechanical Properties of Molybdenum And Molybdenum Base Alloy Sheet

Download or read book Mechanical Properties of Molybdenum And Molybdenum Base Alloy Sheet written by Robert Q. Barr and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mechanical and physical properties of molybdenum and molybdenum-base alloys have been rather extensively documented in the past decade. Almost all of these data have been developed in connection with investigations of wrought bar stock; very little data have been accumulated on the properties of sheet. On the other hand, considerable interest has developed in recent years in the utilization of molybdenum and molybdenum-base alloys in the form of sheet products. This interest is concentrated on sheet of about 1/16-in. gage. This paper represents a summary of the several investigations that were initiated to determine some of the mechanical properties of unalloyed molybdenum and of three molybdenum-base alloys, processed to 1/16 in. thick sheet from vacuum arc-cast ingots.

Book The Physical Metallurgy of Cobalt base Superalloys

Download or read book The Physical Metallurgy of Cobalt base Superalloys written by H J Wagner and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detailed picture is presented of the physical and chemical phenomena that affect the behavior of cobalt-base superalloys. Solid-solution strengthening is obtained from the high-melting metallic elements molybdenum, tungsten, tantalum, and columbium. These elements also participate in precipitation reactions involving their carbides. Precipitation of intermetallic compounds such as Ni3Ti is an important process in cobalt alloys containing appreciable amounts of nickel and titanium. The relationships among microstructure, heat treatment, and mechanical properties of the important commercial alloys are considered, and whenever possible, explained on the basis of the physical and chem cal processes that occur. Book Classification of DMIC Reports and Memoranda by Major Subject

Download or read book Classification of DMIC Reports and Memoranda by Major Subject written by and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To aid in quick identification and easy location of specific technical data and information in the various reports and memoranda which have been prepared and distributed by the Defense Metals Information Center, as well as by DMIC's forerunner, the Titanium Metallurgical Laboratory, a classification by major subject matter was prepared. The classification covers reports through DMIC Report 193 and memoranda through DMIC Memorandum 183. (Author).

Book Binary and Ternary Phase Diagrams of Columbium Molybdenum Tantalum and Tungsten

Download or read book Binary and Ternary Phase Diagrams of Columbium Molybdenum Tantalum and Tungsten written by J. J. English and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report supplements DMIC Report 152 which is a compilation of binary and ternary phase diagrams of columbium, molybdenum, tantalum, and tungsten. Forty new binary and 80 new ternary diagrams are included, some of these being revised versions of the previously published diagrams. Included with each binary diagram and with some ternary diagrams is a short discussion listing terminal solubilities and crystal struc tures of intermediate pahses. Many of the diagrams are tentative and are subject to revision as additional data become available. (Author).

Book Properties of Coated Refractory Metals

Download or read book Properties of Coated Refractory Metals written by W. A. Gibeaut and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes the information generated since the middle of 1961 on the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties of refractory metals that are coated with oxidation-resistant coatings of advanced-experimental or commercial status. It is a supplement to DMIC Report 162, Coatings for the Protection of Refractory Metals from Oxidation, dated November 24, 1961. Recent data on specific silicide- and aluminide- type coatings for columbium, molybdenum, tantalum, and tungsten and their alloys reflect general advances in coating quality and performance, understanding of the behavior of coated systems, and more complete realization of the problems associated with the use of coated hardware.

Book The Mechanical Properties of the 18 Per Cent Nickel Maraging Steels

Download or read book The Mechanical Properties of the 18 Per Cent Nickel Maraging Steels written by J. E. Campbell and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the combination of tensile properties and toughness that can be obtained with the maraging steels is higher than can be achieved with other steels by simple heat treatments, there is considerable interest in using the maraging steels for critical components such as rocket motor cases, pressure vessels, and aircraft forgings. This report includes information on the tensile, compressive, shear, bearing, dynamic modulus, impact, bend, fatigue, creep, and rupture properties of the 18 per cent nickel maraging steels and on the effect of temperature on these properties. Data for the properties of sheet, bar, and forgings, as well as data illustrating the effect of cold rolling, variation in the heat treatment, and elevated-temperature exposure also are presented. Data on the effect of specimen orientation, which are also included, indicate that the ductility and toughness of specimens designed to evaluate the properties in the short transverse direction are somewhat lower than in the other directions. The high strength and toughness that can be obtained in the 18 per cent nickel maraging steels make them attractive for certain critical applications that require these properties. The fabrication characteristics, weldability, and simple heat treatment are other advantages of these steels. (Author).
