Book excerpt: Le travail présenté est fondé sur le fait qu'il devient nécessaire de mieux connaître l'aptitude résiduelle des lubrifiants à mener à bien leurs fonctions au cours du processus de vieillissement en fonctionnement. Cette étude est basée sur l'idée que le phénomène de vieillissement par oxydation est, en majeure partie, responsable de la perte d'efficacité anti-usure des huiles. Notre but à donc été d'apporter notre contribution à une meilleure connaissance de l'influence de l'oxydation de l'huile sur l'usure des moteurs. La première étape de cette étude à consisté à oxyder un certain nombre de lubrifiants et à mesurer leurs caractérisations physico-chimiques au cours de l'oxydation. Dans une deuxième étape, la capacité anti-usure des lubrifiants oxydés a été déterminée. Le vieillissement accéléré des huiles a été réalisé à l'aide d'un essai d'oxydation en laboratoire. L'efficacité anti-usure des huiles a été testée au moyen d'un essai tribologique simulant un contact came-poussoir équipant la génération des moteurs xu. La recherche d'une éventuelle corrélation entre les caractéristiques physicochimiques et les propriétés anti-usure d'une huile, a montré qu'un paramètre tel que la viscosité est en relation avec le niveau d'usure des huiles sélectionnées
