Book Perturbed Optimal Control Problems

Download or read book Perturbed Optimal Control Problems written by Andrew John Korsak and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of perturbations of an 6ptimal control problem upon its optimal control are studied for two classes of optimal control problems. The first class consists of fixed-time, fixed-initial-point, free-terminal-point optimal control problems. The second class consists of certain calculus-of-variations problems interpreted as optimal control problems. The principal results of this study are that an optimal control depends continuously upon the optimal control problem, with respect to certain natural topologies, provided this optimal control is essentially unique, and that an essentially unique optimal control exists for an optimal control problem in the classes studied here, under certain additional assumptions. Some auxiliary results in the calculus of variations are derived to obtain the above conclusions for the second class of problems studied. Among these are an implicit function theorem for absolutely continuous functions and the proof of existence of a field of extremals for certain calculus-of-variations problems. (Author).

Book Singular Perturbation Methodology in Control Systems

Download or read book Singular Perturbation Methodology in Control Systems written by Desineni S. Naidu and published by IET. This book was released on 1988 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the twin topics of singular perturbation methods and time scale analysis to problems in systems and control. The heart of the book is the singularly perturbed optimal control systems, which are notorious for demanding excessive computational costs. The book addresses both continuous control systems (described by differential equations) and discrete control systems (characterised by difference equations).

Book Singular Perturbation Methods in Control

Download or read book Singular Perturbation Methods in Control written by Petar Kokotovic and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singular perturbations and time-scale techniques were introduced to control engineering in the late 1960s and have since become common tools for the modeling, analysis, and design of control systems. In this SIAM Classics edition of the 1986 book, the original text is reprinted in its entirety (along with a new preface), providing once again the theoretical foundation for representative control applications. This book continues to be essential in many ways. It lays down the foundation of singular perturbation theory for linear and nonlinear systems, it presents the methodology in a pedagogical way that is not available anywhere else, and it illustrates the theory with many solved examples, including various physical examples and applications. So while new developments may go beyond the topics covered in this book, they are still based on the methodology described here, which continues to be their common starting point.

Book Optimal Control of a Perturbed Sweeping Process with Applications to the Crowd Motion Model

Download or read book Optimal Control of a Perturbed Sweeping Process with Applications to the Crowd Motion Model written by Tan Hoang Cao and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dissertation is devoted to the study and applications of a new class of optimal control problems governed by a perturbed sweeping process of the hysteresis type with control functions acting in both play-and-stop operator and additive perturbations. Such control problems can be reduced to optimization of discontinuous and unbounded dif- ferential inclusions with pointwise state constraints, which are immensely challenging in control theory and prevent employing conventional variation techniques to derive neces- sary optimality conditions. We develop the method of discrete approximations married with appropriate generalized differential tools of modern variational analysis to overcome principal difficulties in passing to the limit from optimality conditions for finite-difference systems. This approach leads us to nondegenerate necessary conditions for local minimiz- ers of the controlled sweeping process expressed entirely via the problem data. Besides illustrative examples, we apply the obtained results to an optimal control problem asso- ciated with of the crowd motion model of traffic flow in a corridor, which is formulated in this thesis. The derived optimality conditions allow us to develop an effective procedure to solve this problem in a general setting and completely calculate optimal solutions in particular situations.

Book Problems and Methods of Optimal Control

Download or read book Problems and Methods of Optimal Control written by L.D. Akulenko and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The numerous applications of optimal control theory have given an incentive to the development of approximate techniques aimed at the construction of control laws and the optimization of dynamical systems. These constructive approaches rely on small parameter methods (averaging, regular and singular perturbations), which are well-known and have been proven to be efficient in nonlinear mechanics and optimal control theory (maximum principle, variational calculus and dynamic programming). An essential feature of the procedures for solving optimal control problems consists in the necessity for dealing with two-point boundary-value problems for nonlinear and, as a rule, nonsmooth multi-dimensional sets of differential equations. This circumstance complicates direct applications of the above-mentioned perturbation methods which have been developed mostly for investigating initial-value (Cauchy) problems. There is now a need for a systematic presentation of constructive analytical per turbation methods relevant to optimal control problems for nonlinear systems. The purpose of this book is to meet this need in the English language scientific literature and to present consistently small parameter techniques relating to the constructive investigation of some classes of optimal control problems which often arise in prac tice. This book is based on a revised and modified version of the monograph: L. D. Akulenko "Asymptotic methods in optimal control". Moscow: Nauka, 366 p. (in Russian).
