Book Modern Coordination Chemistry

Download or read book Modern Coordination Chemistry written by G. J. Leigh and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2002 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joseph Chatt was a pioneering figure in coordination chemistry. Intended as a record of Chatt's life, work, and influence, this book begins with a description of Chatt's career presented by co-workers, contemporaries, and students, then goes on to show that many of today's leading practitioners in the field have been influenced by Chatt. The latest research in coordination chemistry is presented to highlight Chatt's continuing legacy, in sections on the synthesis and reactivity of hydrido and dihydrogen complexes, the chemistry of phosphines, transition metal complexes of olefins and related isolobal ligands, chemistry related to dinitrogen complexes, the biological work of the ARC unit of nitrogen fixation at the University of Sussex, and patterns and generalizations in stability and reactivity. Leigh is affiliated with the University of Sussex, UK, and Winterton is affiliated with the University of Liverpool, UK. The book is distributed in the US by Springer Verlag. Book Perspectives in Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Perspectives in Organometallic Chemistry written by Barry R Steele and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic chemistry is an area which touches on, and plays an active role in, all of the traditional divisions of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical and theoretical. This timely book provides overviews of recent original developments in these areas, including: the synthesis of main group, transition metal and lanthanide organometallics; applications to homogeneous catalysis; structural and theoretical studies; and enantioselective processes. As these topics are currently part of a stream of exciting research with potentially important industrial applications, this title presents informed accounts of state-of-the-art research which will be of great interest to readers. Written by some of the foremost groups in the field and handsomely illustrated throughout, each chapter also provides an extensive bibliography. By introducing areas that are likely to play a prominent role in organometallic chemistry in the near future, Perspectives in Organometallic Chemistry provides an authoritative source of ideas, particularly for all those engaged in research.

Book Synthetic Coordination Chemistry Principles And Practice

Download or read book Synthetic Coordination Chemistry Principles And Practice written by Julian A Davies and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-09-20 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although coordination chemistry naturally centers on the synthesis of coordination compounds, the synthesis of these materials is typically not an end in itself. Coordination compounds are utilized in all branches of chemistry; from theoretical modeling to industrial and consumer products. While a large amount of information is available on coordination chemistry in general and synthetic methods in particular, no comprehensive work has been presented on the preparation of coordination compounds with an emphasis on synthetic strategies rather than on detailed descriptions of specific syntheses. The goal of this book is to provide an approach to coordination chemistry that is based upon preparative strategies. The main aim of the authors is to present a systematic classification of synthetic reactions rather than an encyclopedic listing of experimental results. Hence, the coverage is more selective than exhaustive. Despite this, the book provides access to the original literature with ca. 2000 references. The edition is well-illustrated and contains almost 250 schemes, figures and illustrations of crystal structures of selected complexes.

Book Synthesis and Original Reactivity of Copper and Gold Complexes

Download or read book Synthesis and Original Reactivity of Copper and Gold Complexes written by Maximilian Joost and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-13 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis addresses the coordination chemistry and reactivity of copper and gold complexes with a focus on the elucidation of (i) the metal-mediated activation of σ-bonds and (ii) the migratory insertion reaction. Both processes are of considerable importance in organometallic chemistry, but remain elusive for Cu and Au complexes. In this work, the author contributes significant advances: The first σ-SiH complexes of copper are experimentally and computationally characterized, yielding valuable insights into σ-bond activation processes for copper. Evidence for a highly unusual migratory syn insertion of unsaturated organic molecules into the gold-silicon bond of silylgold (I) complexes is provided and the corresponding mechanism identified. The intermolecular oxidative addition of σ-SiSi, σ-CC and σ-CX (X=halogen) bonds with molecular gold (I) complexes is studied in detail, effectively demonstrating that this reaction, usually considered to be impossible for gold, is actually highly favored, provided an adequate ligand is employed. The use of small-bite angle bis (phosphine) gold (I) complexes allows for the first time the oxidative addition of σ-CC and σ-CX bonds for gold (I). These results shed light on an unexpected reactivity pattern of gold complexes and may point the way to 2-electron redox transformations mediated by this metal, opening up new perspectives in gold catalysis.
