En la actualidad el fenómeno de la satisfacción laboral adquiere una vital importancia para mejorar la calidad de vida. Resulta evidente que es necesario combinar las nuevas tecnologías y el factor humano para lograr la eficacia y eficiencia en las organizaciones del siglo XXI. Desarrollaremos el concepto de personalidad, satisfacción laboral, así como una descripción de las distintas teorías más importantes que se han desarrollado sobre ello. También mencionaremos los diversos factores que inciden en la satisfacción laboral tanto protectores como de riesgo y distintas medidas a adoptar para mejorar la misma en las organizaciones. Finalmente destacaremos la interacción entre la personalidad y la satisfacción laboral, que es el objetivo del trabajo.

Book excerpt: El mundo del trabajo se ha convertido en un punto de referencia para entender las conductas de los individuos. Los estilos de vida de los individuos han cambiado drásticamente y se ha alterado global y significativamente la calidad de vida de las personas. Lograr una mayor satisfacción en el trabajo será un paso positivo a favor de la calidad de vida. Este estudio se ha realizado en Puerto Rico. El propósito es investigar si los estilos de vida están relacionados con la satisfacción laboral. Se define "estilos de vida" como actividades no relacionas al trabajo que ayudan en la recuperación de energías y en la motivación y satisfacción en el trabajo. La investigación se enmarca en el contexto personal que la autora ha vivido de experiencia de una transculturación, desde un sistema agrícola a uno de industrialización. Se realiza una descripción histórica de los cambios en los estilos de vida que incluye a los precolombinos, la colonización española y la anglosajona. Se analiza cómo la transculturación ha tenido efectos negativos y positivos en la comunidad puertorriqueña, así como la influencia de las distintas culturas en el desarrollo de la personalidad de los puertorriqueños. Se describe la fortaleza de los puertorriqueños en cuanto a su cultura, lenguaje, y nacionalidad. Es un estudio de naturaleza descriptiva y correlacional. La muestra es un grupo de servidores públicos o empleado del Gobierno del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico, que participaron voluntariamente con un permiso de la administración de cada agencia. Se administraron tres instrumentos para recoger información sociodemográfica, así como una Escala de Estilos de Vida y otra de Satisfacción Total en el Trabajo. Se analizan los datos y se presentan alternativas para mejorar los estilos de vida para mayor satisfacción laboral, mediante un Programa de Mejoramiento Personal.

Book excerpt: La presente investigación tiene como objetivo identificar si existe relación significativa entre rasgos de personalidad y satisfacción marital en un grupo de 97 trabajadores de la Universidad Peruana Unión, de ambos sexos, entre 20 años de edad a más, de 0 a 41 años de casados a más. Para alcanzar tal propósito se empleó el Cuestionario EPQR Abreviado de Eysenck, Eysenck y Barrett (adaptado por Sandin, Valiente, Olmedo, Chorot y Santed, 2002) y el Inventario Multifacético de Satisfacción Marital (Coñetas, Rivera y Díaz-Loving, 2002). Los resultados muestran que en las mujeres el rasgo de personalidad neuroticismo tiene relación negativa y es altamente significativa con la satisfacción marital en las áreas de interacción, física sexual y recreación. Esto indica que a mayor inestabilidad emocional, las mujeres perciben menor interacción, menor expresión físico-corporal e insatisfacción en las propuestas de recreación por parte de sus parejas.
