Book Resolving Dilemmas in Perimetry

Download or read book Resolving Dilemmas in Perimetry written by Sagarika Patyal and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-22 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers interpretation of visual fields by Humphrey and Octopus perimeters and discussion of Humphrey visual fields in a variety of ocular disorders. It examines dilemmas faced by an ophthalmologist while evaluating visual fields which do not match with the clinical picture. Glaucoma, the commonest condition for visual field investigation is discussed in detail. Logical reasoningfor incorporating perimetry in glaucoma management with a clear understanding of the challenges in its interpretation is delved into. The book progresses to advanced glaucoma and glaucoma progression. It discusses a systematic evaluation of various parts of the visual field so that the reader can make a calculated management plan for their patient. Each chapter attempts to clearly enunciate factors that help in the diagnosis and features which may be confused with other conditions. Fields which help diagnosing early, advanced glaucoma and glaucoma progression with images and methods of ensuring reasonable diagnostic accuracy are included. The book incorporates separate chapters on ocular conditions which also mimic visual field defects of glaucoma with detailed modes of correct diagnosis, diagnostic dilemmas arising from retinal, macular, vascular, visual pathway lesions mimicking visual field defects of glaucoma or while coexisting with glaucoma, supported by algorithms to achieve a quick diagnosis in a busy OPD without missing the clinical findings and by using minimal investigative modalities. This book helps clinicians to prevent over diagnosis or under diagnosis of glaucoma and helps diagnose cases with morbidities causing visual field defects.

Book Single and Multiple Stimulus Static Perimetry in Glaucoma The Two Phases of Perimetry

Download or read book Single and Multiple Stimulus Static Perimetry in Glaucoma The Two Phases of Perimetry written by E.L. Greve and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: does not vary more than 1 % over the whole surface. Stimulus: The luminance of the stimuli can be regulated by means of neutral density filters. These filters are neither entirely neutral nor completely uniform, but these variations are not significant for perimetry. The maximum luminance of the stimuli is standardized at 1000 asb (316 2 cd.m-). The standard GP for kinetic perimetry has 3 neutral density filters which reduce the luminance by 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 log units respectively. The modification of the GP for static perimetry is supplied with an additional series of four neutral density filters, which allow luminance steps of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 log units. The resulting luminance values, expressed in apostilb, are given in Table I. Book Perimetry Update 1998 1999

Download or read book Perimetry Update 1998 1999 written by Michael Wall and published by Kugler Publications. This book was released on 1999 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The topics presented at the XIIIth Symposium embraced all aspects of perimetric science. A total of ten sessions were held and covered: fundamentals of perimetry, visual psychophysics, new perimetric techniques, new algorithms for estimating threshold, perimetric variability, color perimetry, optic nerve head imaging, and visual field investigation in glaucoma and in retinal and neurological disorders. The new perimetric techniques included frequency doubling technology, flicker perimetry and pupil perimetry. The new algorithms included the Swedish Interactive Threshold Algorithm (SITA) and Tendency Orientated Perimetry (TOP). The session on perimetric variability addressed some of the issues contributing to short-term fluctuation, and also contained papers on the use of univariate linear regression of point-wise sensitivity against time to follow-up for the identification of progressive visual field loss. The session on color perimetry was almost exclusively concerned with Short Wavelength Automated Perimetry (SWAP), particularly in glaucoma and high risk ocular hypertension. However, one group described a seemingly promising additional use for SWAP; namely, in the detection of diabetic macular edema. The presentations within the imaging session described the latest morphometric and topographic parameters derived by optic nerve head and nerve fiber layer analysis, and compared these structural measures with those of the functional assessment.
