Book Performance Management in Small Manufacturing Companies Changes and Future Trends

Download or read book Performance Management in Small Manufacturing Companies Changes and Future Trends written by Vanessa Busch and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2019-08-02 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2019 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,3, Griffith College Dublin, language: English, abstract: This text will examine how performance management has changed, what was important in the past and what are the trends for the future. The focus will be on small companies. A performance management system is a part of human resource management. Through the system, a company can see the development of each employee’s performance. This includes all performance appraisals, training and actions that have been done and that will be done in the future. The most important process in this change, as will be concluded, is a well-developed performance management system that both, managers and employees, appreciate. It can help to have everyone’s highest performance if it is able to value the individual. This is a challenge for the big companies as well as for the smaller ones. No one can say what is the best system, it depends on the company’s individual needs.

Book Learning to Change

Download or read book Learning to Change written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1993-02-01 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manufacturing firmsâ€"large and smallâ€"face massive change and adjustment as they move from a stable, fault-tolerant environment of long production runs to a volatile world in which production runs are short; product characteristics are changing constantly; and defect-free, on-time production at decreasing prices is a condition for survival. The necessary changes in the production organization include everything from the layout of the shop floor to the distribution of authority between managers and workers. The magnitude of these changes threatens to overwhelm the managerial capacities of firms, regardless of their size. This study examines the particularly vulnerable situation of small and mid-size manufacturers and considers ways in which to help them undertake the many changes and adjustments necessary. These include assimilating the new tools, disciplines, and philosophy of lean manufacturing; embracing new ways of delegating responsibilities; and developing new kinds of partnerships among customers, suppliers, and employees.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about strategic performance management for the Twenty-First Century organization. In a practical step-by-step approach it navigates readers though the identification, measurement, and management of the strategic value drivers as enables of superior performance. Using many real life case examples this book outlines how organizations can visualize their value creation, design relevant and meaningful performance indicators to assess performance, and then use them to extract real management insights and improve everyday strategic decision making as well as organizational learning. A key focus of the book is the important issue of creating value from intangible assets. Much has been written about the importance of intangible assets such as knowledge, skills, relationships, culture, practices, routines, and intellectual property as levers for organisational success. However, little has been published that tells managers how to do that. This book moves beyond just raising awareness and provides practical tools and templates, gathered in many extensive case studies with world-leading organizations. The key issues the book addresses are: • How do we identify the strategic value drives, especially the intangibles, in our organisations? • How do we understand their strategic value using the powerful mapping tools? • How do we then measure the business performance? • How do we use performance indicators to improve decision making and organisational learning? • How do we align performance reviews and risk management with our strategy? Well grounded in theory and packed with case studies from around the world, this book will function as a guide for managers as well as a reference work for students and researchers. The tools described in this book are not only suitable for leading international corporations, but have been designed to be equally appropriate for not-for-profit organizations, central and local government institutions, small and medium sized businesses, and even departments and business units. The ideas, tools, and templates provided allow managers to apply them straight away and transform the way they manage strategic performance at all levels of their organization.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "No other talent process has been the subject of such great debate and emotion as performance management (PM). For decades, different strategies have been tried to improve PM processes, yielding an endless cycle of reform to capture the next "Flavor of the Day" PM trend. The past five years, however, have brought novel thinking that is different than past trends. Companies are reducing their formal processes, driving performance-based cultures, and embedding effective PM behavior into daily work rather than relying on annual reviews to drive these. Through case studies provided from leading organizations, this book illustrates the range of PM processes that companies are using today. These show a shift away from adopting someone else's best practice and instead, companies are designing bespoke PM processes that fit their specific strategy, climate, and needs. Leading PM thought leaders offer their views about the state of PM today, what we've learned and where we need to focus future efforts, including provocative new research that shows what matters most in driving high performance. This book is as a call to action for talent management professionals to go beyond traditional best practice and provide thought leadership in designing PM processes and systems that will enhance both individual and organizational performance"--
