Book System Performance Evaluation and Design Guidelines for Displacement Ventilation

Download or read book System Performance Evaluation and Design Guidelines for Displacement Ventilation written by Qingyan Chen and published by American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. This book was released on 2003 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents system performance evaluation, and includes a 10-step design guideline for displacement ventilation systems for U.S. buildings. These design guidelines present two important models: 1) to calculate the temperature difference between the head and the foot level of an occupant; and 2) one to determine the ventilation effectiveness at the breathing level. The book notes that: A displacement ventilation system can provide a thermally comfortable indoor environment at a high cooling load through careful design. The indoor air quality in a space with displacement ventilation is better if the contaminant sources are associates with the heat sources. The displacement ventilation system can also save energy but requires a separate heating system if it is applied to building perimeter zones. 6 x 9, soft cover.

Book Computational Fluid Dynamics for Built and Natural Environments

Download or read book Computational Fluid Dynamics for Built and Natural Environments written by Zhiqiang (John) Zhai and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-24 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the fundamentals of simulating and analyzing built and natural environments using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. CFD offers a powerful tool for dealing with various scientific and engineering problems and is widely used in diverse industries. This book focuses on the most important aspects of applying CFD to the study of urban, buildings, and indoor and outdoor environments. Following the logical procedure used to prepare a CFD simulation, the book covers e.g. the governing equations, boundary conditions, numerical methods, modeling of different fluid flows, and various turbulence models. Furthermore, it demonstrates how CFD can be applied to solve a range of engineering problems, providing detailed hands-on exercises on air and water flow, heat transfer, and pollution dispersion problems that typically arise in the study of buildings and environments. The book also includes practical guidance on analyzing and reporting CFD results, as well as writing CFD reports/papers.

Book Air Distribution in Rooms

Download or read book Air Distribution in Rooms written by H.B. Awbi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000 with total page 746 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The air distribution in occupied spaces is a major issue of public concern. It is widely recognized that the quality of air and the nature of airflow can affect the health of occupants and the energy consumed in buildings and transport vehicles. ROOMVENT is the principal international conference in the field of air distribution. It was first initiated in 1987 by SCANVAC, the Scandinavian Federation of Heating, Ventilating and Sanitary Engineering Associations in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The aim of the Conference is to bring together researchers from universities and research institutes, engineers from industry and government officials and policy makers, with the goal of experiencing the latest techniques for measuring and analyzing indoor air flow, the visualization of indoor air flow patterns, the evaluation of ventilation parameters and the most recent developments in computer simulation techniques of room airflow. It is hoped that the theme of ROOMVENT 2000 "Ventilation for Health and Sustainable Environment" will set the scene for room air distribution research and development for the new millennium.

Book A Handbook on Low Energy Buildings and District Energy Systems

Download or read book A Handbook on Low Energy Buildings and District Energy Systems written by L.D. Danny Harvey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-08-21 with total page 717 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of Choice Magazine - Outstanding Academic Titles for 2007 Buildings account for over one third of global energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Reducing energy use by buildings is therefore an essential part of any strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and thereby lessen the likelihood of potentially catastrophic climate change. Bringing together a wealth of hard-to-obtain information on energy use and energy efficiency in buildings at a level which can be easily digested and applied, Danny Harvey offers a comprehensive, objective and critical sourcebook on low-energy buildings. Topics covered include: thermal envelopes, heating, cooling, heat pumps, HVAC systems, hot water, lighting, solar energy, appliances and office equipment, embodied energy, buildings as systems and community-integrated energy systems (cogeneration, district heating, and district cooling). The book includes exemplary buildings and techniques from North America, Europe and Asia, and combines a broad, holistic perspective with technical detail in an accessible and insightful manner.
