Book excerpt: Perfectly Broken is a riveting story of my life after my rape. Fear and rage were my closest companions, and I teeter-tottered between the two. Even with my rapist in prison and awaiting the trial, I couldn't come to grips with my life as a victim. Spiraling out of control, knowing this was more than I could handle, I handed my situation over to God. I found peace in the stories from the Bible but still struggled with that nagging question of "why me, God?" A summer foreign exchange program to Spain came at the perfect time. With the court date months away, a chance to be something more than "the raped girl" was an answered prayer. The walls I had spent all year building came crashing down as I learned to laugh again, live again, and dance again. I realized it wasn't my situation I needed God to fix. Instead, I was the one who was broken. Piece by piece, He rebuilt me in His image.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Christians go through a dry time—a time when it's hard to praise the Lord or pray. We can get through it to the valley where we can be strengthened and make it to the bottom of the mountain. Then there's special armor we need to help us climb. Without it, we will easily slide back to the beginning. That won't mean we failed. If we stop and don't keep trying, that's when we become failures. This is a nonfictional study on how to get to the mountaintop, and it is intertwined with testimonies of my life. So many wonderful things have happened in my life, and God brought me through many puzzle journeys. He walked every journey of dry spells and dark valleys with me and helped me climb the mountains.

Download or read book From Broke to Broken written by Niral Russell Burnett and published by NiOse Communications Company. This book was released on 2003-09 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Broke to Broken Embracing a Life that Lacks Nothing is a spiritual journey that every Christian must take. Whether the need is financial, health or marital, God desires that we are usable for the glory of his kingdom, and that can only be attained when we experience a true spiritual breakthrough. Breakthrough occurs when that which is on the inside comes out, as in a seed. Yet, interestingly, the same could be said of brokenness. In a church age where Christians nationwide are crying out for breakthrough, it is evident that God has sent things that bring brokenness. Still, breakthrough and brokenness are the same thing. So, why do so few cry out for brokenness? This follow-up to the critically acclaimed, Tithing and Still Broke will show believers what really matters, as we embrace a life that lacks nothing. Yet, when we embrace such a life, the precious things we seek will not be found in places that are pretty. They will be found in places that are dangerous places where our security, our finances, and even our health are being challenged. Yet, these experiences are where the greatest treasures imaginable are harvested.
Download or read book Broken written by L. Loera and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-08-08 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reason for publishing my book is to reach victims all over the world in hope of inspiring them to come forward and bring to justice more sex offenders as I did. That first step is the most crucial in any kind of recovery and is extremely difficult. We all know that any kind of abuse is very traumatic for every victim, and what I have found, is that every victims reaction is completely different yet not all accepted by society as they claim.Victims are not always women as most people think. Violators, rapists and sexual offenders are given many chances to re-do their lives and pick up where they left off when they get out of jail if they ever spend a day in jail. But us victims, forever live in a dark gloomy world, full of suspicious people and find it very hard to continue with our normal lives ever again. We live a life sentence of depression, guilt, shame and fear because of our attackers, and that is not the way it should be. Our system should be able to understand, guild and help us to a life time of therapy paid for by our government and/or the offender for changing our entire life as well as our loved once. We are left with distorted minds for the way they treated us. Our system should realize that just as every case is different, so is our response to our traumatic experience and to the therapy received, if any.Unfortunately, some victims turn to drugs, alcohol, lose or gain weight, depression or even suicide, leaving children, families and friends behind. Others turn to prostitution or just having multiple sexual partners.Others turn to same sex partners for fear of the opposite sexual partner hurting them too. And others give up having a social, sexual, or spiritual life all together. Some victims live hating men for the rest of their lives, blaming the rest of the world for their anger and when they totally loose control and snap, they forget why they had so much anger built up inside. Victims have hurt, tortured and killed men in acts of passion.

Book excerpt: A woman digs up a buried treasure—and a buried body—in the Scottish Highlands: “There are few other crime writers in the same league.”—Maureen Corrigan, The Washington Post Six feet under in a Highland peat bog lies Alice Somerville’s inheritance, buried by her grandfather at the end of World War II. But when Alice finally uncovers it, she finds an unwanted surprise—a body with a bullet hole between the eyes. Meanwhile, DCI Karen Pirie is dealing not only with this cold case but with a domestic violence case, and as as she gets closer to the truth, it becomes clear that not everyone shares her desire for justice. Or even the idea of what justice is. An engrossing, twisty thriller, Broken Ground is an outstanding entry in this Diamond Dagger-winning author’s “superior series” (The New York Times Book Review). “As always, McDermid’s story lines are as richly layered as her protagonist.”—Publishers Weekly “One of the best things about this series is the details of Karen's working life, the obstacles as well as the satisfactions, and the small pleasures of her off hours.”—Kirkus Reviews
