As soon as Jitka and her fiancé buy a house, it’s time for Jitka to fulfil her long-time dream: to have a faithful, cute, furry friend, capable of true, unconditional love. The new addition to their family is strong-willed, with a clear focus on his own wants. He displays daily his obvious love of all the things the world so generously provides for him, especially if it tastes good, or at least is not completely inedible. Not aware yet that a dramatic turn of events is just around the corner, Jitka and her fiancé are enjoying life with the many surprising and frequently comical situations that Pepi drags them into. As life, so often unpredictable, can change laughter into tears, joy into fear and vice-versa, Jitka’s secure world is turned upside down and she is hurtling down the roller coaster with Pepi by her side. Download or read book Opto structural Analysis written by John W. Pepi and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents basic structural deformation and stress analysis as applied to optical systems. It provides the tools for first-order analyses required in the design concept phase before handling the intricate details of a full-up design. While finite element analysis is paramount to a successful design, the purpose of this text is not to use finite element analysis to validate the hand analysis, but rather to use hand analysis to validate the finite element models. The hand analysis forces a discipline that is paramount in the understanding of structural behavior. Presuming that the reader has a working knowledge in the strength of materials, the text applies engineering principles to opto-structural analysis.

Download or read book The Real Drama Incredible Medicine written by Pepi Granat, M D and published by . This book was released on 2021-07-22 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pepi Granat began a journey to aid her fellow human at a time when women were not encouraged to pursue professional careers of their own. Neither this nor anything else-including raising three children-could keep Dr. Granat from realizing her goal: to bring healing and comfort to those who need it. "Why do you want to be around sickness and death?" her grandmother once asked. "Do something where you can laugh and be happy." "But sickness and death will still be there, even if I can't see them," she replied. "Knowing they're there and not doing anything about it, I can't laugh or be happy, either." In "The Real Drama: Incredible Medicine," Pepi Granat, MD, recounts stories from a remarkable career filled with great achievements and joy-and no small measure of sacrifice or suffering. The details of her extensive activism, her cogent analysis of the current state of medicine (and creative solutions for improving it in a sustainable manner) are thoughtfully laid out with her characteristic warmth and accessible style.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pyramid Texts are the oldest body of extant literature from ancient Egypt. First carved on the walls of the burial chambers in the pyramids of kings and queens of the Old Kingdom, they provide the earliest comprehensive view of the way in which the ancient Egyptians understood the structure of the universe, the role of the gods, and the fate of human beings after death. Their importance lies in their antiquity and in their endurance throughout the entire intellectual history of ancient Egypt. This volume contains the complete translation of the Pyramid Texts, including new texts recently discovered and published. It incorporates full restorations and readings indicated by post-Old Kingdom copies of the texts and is the first translation that presents the texts in the order in which they were meant to be read in each of the original sources.

Download or read book The Homicide Manifesto written by Cpt Jose 'pepi' Granado and published by Austin Macauley. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Homicide Manifesto is a testament of Cpt. Jose 'Pepi' Granado's (Ret.) many years of service within the law enforcement community, especially his insights as an investigator and supervisor of various Homicide Units. It's meant to be used as a guide for new investigators, supervisors, students majoring in Criminal Justice, Law, or a University's curriculum. Additionally, this book is a source of information that can augment any in-service training provided by law enforcement agencies nationally or globally. Individual investigators who desire to investigate violent crimes, attorneys, or citizens can use this book to garner better perspectives of how investigations should be conducted. As a Criminal Investigations Division Captain, Cpt. Granado realized the lack of training investigators and supervisors receive. Therefore, this book is his way of providing knowledge to future generations of investigators, supervisors, and students in order for them to understand the importance of thoroughness and preparedness. "Attack the Castle."
Download or read book Memoirs of an Agent for Change in International Development written by Ludwig Rudel and published by Ludwig Rudel. This book was released on 2014 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE ASSOCIATION FOR DIPLOMATIC STUDIES AND TRAINING (see ADST.org) has selected this memoir for inclusion in its "Memoirs and Occasional Papers" series. Lu Rudel describes his unique experiences with US foreign economic aid programs during some of the most dramatic international events since World War II. These include Iran after the fall of Mosaddegh (1956-1960); Turkey after the military coup of 1960 to the start of the Cuba Missile crisis; India after the death of Nehru (1965-1970); and Pakistan following the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1988. Rudel's firsthand observations on Iran differ markedly from the description of events commonly espoused by some historians and journalists. He also provides a firsthand account of the political metamorphosis over the past half-century of the "Group of 77" nations as they attempted to employ the UN's economic development agencies to press for a "New International Economic Order." These experiences lead him to draw important lessons about the conduct and effectiveness of foreign aid. After retirement in 1980 he launched a second career, applying lessons learned from his work in international development to creation of a thousand-acre land development and resort in rural Appalachia. His experiences over the following thirty years as an entrepreneur track the relentless growth of government regulations and the disappearance of community support institutions such as local banks, now being replaced by mega-banks. Finally, he examines global trends of the past eighty years in four critical areas of change affecting our lives-population growth, science and technology, economic systems, and political structures-to draw some surprising conclusions and projections.
