Meagan, always trying to live life in true Amish style, discovers being homeless doesn't rein in Katherine's emotional outbursts or enjoyment of a good fight. Katherine, forever trying to get rid of Meagan's self-appointed role as her conscience, always hopes to have fun. All while trying to survive floods, posses, bounty hunters, 'bugs big enough to carry off a body', and Sir's threats to simply leave them behind. Visiting a cattle ranch in Washington Territory, the three discover a lead to the mysterious person trying to kill them. Forging a trail to the budding town of San Francisco, they create havoc as usual along the way. Once there, the girls finally meet the man intent on killing them. They also gain a bit of history of their husband, which leaves them both stunned and wanting to know more.
