Download or read book PCCP Texturing Methods written by Ahmad Ardani and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a 5-year evaluation and construction details of nine test sections with varying textural characteristics. Included in the report is an overview of the methodologies used to texture concrete pavement surfaces and a discussion of frictional attributes of various textures at different speeds and their impact on noise properties. Also included in the report are descriptions of texture-measuring devices and texture-installing equipment, a description of the state-of-the-art equipment used to acquire sound pressure levels, plus a thorough discussion of data acquisition/analysis. Frictional characteristics of the individual test sections were evaluated using the ASTM E 274 skid testing procedure.
Download or read book Texturing of Concrete Pavements written by Jim W. Hall and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2009 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores a recommended process for determining the type of concrete pavement texture that may be used for a specific highway project. The process considers the effects of texture type on friction and noise characteristics.
Download or read book Relationship Between Pavement Surface Texture and Highway Traffic Noise written by Roger L. Wayson and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1998 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report will be of interest to state DOT pavement engineers, environmental specialists, and noise analysts. The relationship between pavement surface texture and highway traffic noise is discussed. Information for the synthesis was collected by surveying state transportation agencies and by conducting a literature search of both domestic and foreign publications."--Avant-propos.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 25 papers presented at the National Seminar on Portland Cement (PCC) Pavement Recycling and Rehabilitation are reproduced in this report. The seminar was held in St. Louis, Missouri, September 27-30, 1981, and was attended by 219 people from national, state, and local governments, as well as industry and academia. These proceedings cover all aspects of PCC pavement recycling and rehabilitation, including condition surveys, jacking, drainage, joint repair, profile correction, bonded overlays, and load transfer restoration for both urban and rural situations. Cost and energy considerations, specifications, quality control, and environmental considerations were addressed. Equipment of all types was discussed and research currently underway was reviewed.

Download or read book Avalanche Hazard Index for Colorado Highways written by Arthur I. Mears and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study conducted an inventory of existing avalanche paths along Colorado Highways. Information was collected on the size and type of each avalanche path, the historical frequency of avalanche occurrences, the number of avalanche tracks, the length of highway exposed, the volume of traffic on the road, the traffic peak characteristics, the speed of traffic and the consequences of an avalanche encounter with a vehicle. This information was used to generate an Avalanche Hazard Index (AHI) for Colorado Highways. The concept of the AHI has been used in the past as a quantitative measure of the avalanche hazard to traffic. The AHI values calculated in this study are considered relative values and can be used to compare the hazards of particular avalanche paths or avalanche prone routes in Colorado.
Download or read book Performance Evaluation of Various Corrosion Protection Systems of Bridges in Colorado written by Yunping Xi and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrosion of reinforced concrete structures has been a significant problem for many state and transportation agencies since the application of deicing salts was introduced. Much research has been conducted to develop corrosion protection systems that can prolong the life span of reinforced concrete structures. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has several routine and experimental measures to prevent corrosion of the rebar including epoxy-coated rebar, calcium nitrite admixture, organic corrosion inhibitors, a thick cover of quality concrete, and a waterproofing membrane covered by an asphalt overlay. An extensive literature review was performed to collect information on various corrosion protection systems that have been used in the U.S. and around the world. Current CDOT practices in terms of corrosion protection measures were reviewed. A draft inspection plan for Colorado's bridge structures was proposed.

Download or read book Using Ground Tire Rubber in Hot Mix Asphalt Pavements written by Donna S. Harmelink and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Documents the construction and performance of the research study which was initiated to address section 1038(d) of the 1991 Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA). The project selected to demonstrate the crumb rubber process was located on Platt Canyon (SH 75) from Bowles to C470 in the Denver metropolitan area. The project was a low volume roadway and quantities of crumb rubber introduced into the mix were minimal. This was to reduce risk in terms of premature failure and Colorado's limited experience with crumb rubber. Because of this limited experience, the "dry" process was selected. The project contained four different mix designs. A mix containing 1% [20 lb/ton (10 kg/Mg)] crumb rubber, a mix containing 1 lb/ton (0.5 kg/Mg), a mix containing 3 lb/ton (1.5 kg/Mg) and a mix which contained no rubber were placed on the project.
