Book Partition s First Generation

Download or read book Partition s First Generation written by Amber H. Abbas and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mohammadan Anglo-Oriental College (MAO), that became the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in 1920 drew the Muslim elite into its orbit and was a key site of a distinctively Muslim nationalism. Located in New Dehli, the historic centre of Muslim rule, it was home to many leading intellectuals and reformers in the years leading up to Indian independence. During partition it was a hub of pro-Pakistan activism. The graduates who came of age during the anti-colonial struggle in India settled throughout the subcontinent after the Partition. They carried with them the particular experiences, values and histories that had defined their lives as Aligarh students in a self-consciously Muslim environment, surrounded by a non-Muslim majority. This new archive of oral history narratives from seventy former AMU students reveals histories of partition as yet unheard. In contrast to existing studies, these stories lead across the boundaries of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Partition in AMU is not defined by international borders and migrations but by alienation from the safety of familiar places. The book reframes Partition to draw attention to the ways individuals experienced ongoing changes associated with “partitioning”-the process through which familiar spaces and places became strange and sometimes threatening-and they highlight specific, never-before-studied sites of disturbance distant from the borders.

Book The Partition Method for a Power Series Expansion

Download or read book The Partition Method for a Power Series Expansion written by Victor Kowalenko and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-01-19 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Partition Method for a Power Series Expansion: Theory and Applications explores how the method known as 'the partition method for a power series expansion', which was developed by the author, can be applied to a host of previously intractable problems in mathematics and physics. In particular, this book describes how the method can be used to determine the Bernoulli, cosecant, and reciprocal logarithm numbers, which appear as the coefficients of the resulting power series expansions, then also extending the method to more complicated situations where the coefficients become polynomials or mathematical functions. From these examples, a general theory for the method is presented, which enables a programming methodology to be established. Finally, the programming techniques of previous chapters are used to derive power series expansions for complex generating functions arising in the theory of partitions and in lattice models of statistical mechanics. Explains the partition method by presenting elementary applications involving the Bernoulli, cosecant, and reciprocal logarithm numbers Compares generating partitions via the BRCP algorithm with the standard lexicographic approaches Describes how to program the partition method for a power series expansion and the BRCP algorithm

Book Normal Partitions and Hierarchical Fillings of N Dimensional Spaces

Download or read book Normal Partitions and Hierarchical Fillings of N Dimensional Spaces written by Zhizhin, Gennadiy Vladimirovich and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-12-25 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the study of the structure of substances in recent decades, phenomena in the higher dimension was discovered that was previously unknown. These include spontaneous zooming (scaling processes), discovery of crystals with the absence of translational symmetry in three-dimensional space, detection of the fractal nature of matter, hierarchical filling of space with polytopes of higher dimension, and the highest dimension of most molecules of chemical compounds. This forces research to expand the formulation of the question of constructing n-dimensional spaces, posed by David Hilbert in 1900, and to abandon the methods of considering the construction of spaces by geometric figures that do not take into account the accumulated discoveries in the physics of the structure of substances. There is a need for research that accounts for the new paradigm of the discrete world and provides a solution to Hilbert's 18th problem of constructing spaces of higher dimension using congruent figures. Normal Partitions and Hierarchical Fillings of N-Dimensional Spaces aims to consider the construction of spaces of various dimensions from two to any finite dimension n, taking into account the indicated conditions, including zooming in on shapes, properties of geometric figures of higher dimensions, which have no analogue in three-dimensional space. This book considers the conditions of existence of polytopes of higher dimension, clusters of chemical compounds as polytopes of the highest dimension, higher dimensions in the theory of heredity, the geometric structure of the product of polytopes, the products of polytopes on clusters and molecules, parallelohedron and stereohedron of Delaunay, parallelohedron of higher dimension and partition of n-dimensional spaces, hierarchical filling of n-dimensional spaces, joint normal partitions, and hierarchical fillings of n-dimensional spaces. In addition, it pays considerable attention to biological problems. This book is a valuable reference tool for practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students who are interested in learning more about the latest research on normal partitions and hierarchical fillings of n-dimensional spaces.

Book These Thin Partitions

Download or read book These Thin Partitions written by Joshua Englehardt and published by University Press of Colorado. This book was released on 2017-05-15 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These “Thin Partitions” explores the intellectual and methodological differences that separate two of the four subdisciplines within the field of anthropology: archaeology and cultural anthropology. Contributors examine the theoretical underpinnings of this separation and explore what can be gained by joining them, both in university departments and in field research. In case studies highlighting the benefits of interdisciplinary collaboration, contributors argue that anthropologists and archaeologists are simply not “speaking the same language” and that the division between fields undermines the field of anthropology as a whole. Scholars must bridge this gap and find ways to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to promote the health of the anthropological discipline. By sharing data, methods, and ideas, archaeology and cultural anthropology can not only engage in more productive debates but also make research accessible to those outside academia. These “Thin Partitions” gets to the heart of a well-known problem in the field of anthropology and contributes to the ongoing debate by providing concrete examples of how interdisciplinary collaboration can enhance the outcomes of anthropological research. Book Partition and Peace in Civil Wars

Download or read book Partition and Peace in Civil Wars written by Carter R. Johnson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines whether partition is an effective means to resolve ethnic and sectarian civil wars. It argues that partition is unlikely to end ongoing ethnosectarian civil wars, but it can increase the likelihood of preventing civil war recurrence, as long as the partition separates civilians and militaries. The book presents in-depth case studies of Georgia–Abkhazia and Moldova–Transnistria, in addition to cross-national comparisons of all ethnosectarian civil wars between 1945 and 2004. This analysis demonstrates when partitioning a country can help transform an identity-based civil war into a lasting peace. Highlighting practical and moral challenges of separating ethnosectarian groups, the book contends that complete partitions cannot be easily implemented by the international community, and this limits their applicability. It also demonstrates that ethnosectarian civil wars are driven less by inter-group antagonisms and more by state breakdown, meaning displaced minorities can reintegrate peacefully after partition as long as a minimal level of state-building has been completed. The book ends by examining whether partition would be useful for five contemporary conflicts: Iraq, Ukraine–Donbass, Afghanistan, Sudan–South Sudan, and Serbia–Kosovo. This book will be of much interest to students of civil wars, ethnic conflict, peace and conflict studies, and international relations.

Book Combinatorics of Set Partitions

Download or read book Partitions written by Stefano Bianchini and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2004-08-02 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The partition of the Indian subcontinent, the collapse of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, the reunification of Germany, the continuing feud between two Koreas, the Irish peace process, the case of Israel/Palestine and the lingering division of Cyprus, have together given rise to a huge body of literature. However, studies of partitions have usually focused on individual cases. This innovative volume uses comparative analysis to fill the gap in partition studies and examines cross-cutting issues such as: * violence * state formation * union and regional unification * geopolitics * transition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about synergy in computational intelligence (CI). It is a c- lection of chapters that covers a rich and diverse variety of computer-based techniques, all involving some aspect of computational intelligence, but each one taking a somewhat pragmatic view. Many complex problems in the real world require the application of some form of what we loosely call “intel- gence”fortheirsolution. Fewcanbesolvedbythenaiveapplicationofasingle technique, however good it is. Authors in this collection recognize the li- tations of individual paradigms, and propose some practical and novel ways in which di?erent CI techniques can be combined with each other, or with more traditional computational techniques, to produce powerful probl- solving environments which exhibit synergy, i. e. , systems in which the whole 1 is greater than the sum of the parts . Computational intelligence is a relatively new term, and there is some d- agreement as to its precise de?nition. Some practitioners limit its scope to schemes involving evolutionary algorithms, neural networks, fuzzy logic, or hybrids of these. For others, the de?nition is a little more ?exible, and will include paradigms such as Bayesian belief networks, multi-agent systems, case-based reasoning and so on. Generally, the term has a similar meaning to the well-known phrase “Arti?cial Intelligence” (AI), although CI is p- ceived moreas a “bottom up” approachfrom which intelligent behaviour can emerge, whereasAItendstobestudiedfromthe“topdown”,andderivefrom pondering upon the “meaning of intelligence”. This book was released on 2013-09-25 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finally, after a wait of more than thirty-five years, the first part of Volume 4 is at last ready for publication. Check out the boxed set that brings together Volumes 1 - 4A in one elegant case, and offers the purchaser a $50 discount off the price of buying the four volumes individually. The Art of Computer Programming, Volumes 1-4A Boxed Set, 3/e ISBN: 0321751043 Art of Computer Programming, Volume 4, Fascicle 4,The: Generating All Trees--History of Combinatorial Generation: Generating All Trees--History of Combinatorial Generation This multivolume work on the analysis of algorithms has long been recognized as the definitive description of classical computer science. The three complete volumes published to date already comprise a unique and invaluable resource in programming theory and practice. Countless readers have spoken about the profound personal influence of Knuth's writings. Scientists have marveled at the beauty and elegance of his analysis, while practicing programmers have successfully applied his “cookbook” solutions to their day-to-day problems. All have admired Knuth for the breadth, clarity, accuracy, and good humor found in his books. To begin the fourth and later volumes of the set, and to update parts of the existing three, Knuth has created a series of small books called fascicles, which will be published at regular intervals. Each fascicle will encompass a section or more of wholly new or revised material. Ultimately, the content of these fascicles will be rolled up into the comprehensive, final versions of each volume, and the enormous undertaking that began in 1962 will be complete. Volume 4, Fascicle 4 This latest fascicle covers the generation of all trees, a basic topic that has surprisingly rich ties to the first three volumes of The Art of Computer Programming. In thoroughly discussing this well-known subject, while providing 124 new exercises, Knuth continues to build a firm foundation for programming. To that same end, this fascicle also covers the history of combinatorial generation. Spanning many centuries, across many parts of the world, Knuth tells a fascinating story of interest and relevance to every artful programmer, much of it never before told. The story even includes a touch of suspense: two problems that no one has yet been able to solve.
