Book excerpt: The Paris Optimizer is the guide for the independent-minded traveler who wants to make the best use of time and money while visiting the City of Light. Many guidebooks do an excellent job of answering the questions of "what" you might want to see and do in Paris. Our goal is to show you "how" to see Paris on your terms. The Paris Optimizer does not provide checklists of "must see" attractions or one-size-fits all itineraries. Rather, it provides you with the essential information that you need to design a Paris trip that is customized to be meaningful and memorable for you and your travel companions. We believe that if you spend a couple of hours with this guide, you will be well prepared to experience much more of what this wonderful city has to offer. Specifically, the Paris Optimizer will help you: * Determine your own "must see" list of museums, monuments, parks, and other attractions. * Provide ideas for attractions you may not have considered, but might appeal to you. * Enhance your visits to 50 popular attractions with "know before you go" information. * Understand the geography of Paris and how it affects your itinerary planning. * Find good and authentic French/European restaurants throughout the city that are within your budget. * Calculate realistic budgets for the on-the-ground costs of your Paris vacation and understand what different spending ranges will allow you to do. * Avoid situations that waste your time or cause you to overpay. * Set realistic expectations about what you can see and do during your visit.

Book Modern Optimization Methods for Decision Making Under Risk and Uncertainty

Download or read book Modern Optimization Methods for Decision Making Under Risk and Uncertainty written by Alexei A. Gaivoronski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-10-06 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book comprises original articles on topical issues of risk theory, rational decision making, statistical decisions, and control of stochastic systems. The articles are the outcome of a series international projects involving the leading scholars in the field of modern stochastic optimization and decision making. The structure of stochastic optimization solvers is described. The solvers in general implement stochastic quasi-gradient methods for optimization and identification of complex nonlinear models. These models constitute an important methodology for finding optimal decisions under risk and uncertainty. While a large part of current approaches towards optimization under uncertainty stems from linear programming (LP) and often results in large LPs of special structure, stochastic quasi-gradient methods confront nonlinearities directly without need of linearization. This makes them an appropriate tool for solving complex nonlinear problems, concurrent optimization and simulation models, and equilibrium situations of different types, for instance, Nash or Stackelberg equilibrium situations. The solver finds the equilibrium solution when the optimization model describes the system with several actors. The solver is parallelizable, performing several simulation threads in parallel. It is capable of solving stochastic optimization problems, finding stochastic Nash equilibria, and of composite stochastic bilevel problems where each level may require the solution of stochastic optimization problem or finding Nash equilibrium. Several complex examples with applications to water resources management, energy markets, pricing of services on social networks are provided. In the case of power system, regulator makes decision on the final expansion plan, considering the strategic behavior of regulated companies and coordinating the interests of different economic entities. Such a plan can be an equilibrium − a planned decision where a company cannot increase its expected gain unilaterally.

Book The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytology

Download or read book The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytology written by Eva M. Wojcik and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-03 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytology introduced a completely new paradigm for detecting bladder cancer by urine cytology. This system concentrated on defining morphological characteristics of the most clinically significant form of bladder cancer, High Grade Urothelial Carcinoma. This new approach has been widely accepted throughout the world, and has become part of the daily practice of cytology. Considering that the first edition of The Paris System (TPS) introduced a new model of urinary cytodiagnosis, verification and expansion of initial material and data were anticipated. Based on evolving knowledge and readership requests, the group of highly experienced authors have created a new edition of TPS. This second edition includes areas and issues not originally covered. A new chapter on urine cytology of the upper tract, a rarely addressed topic, has been introduced. Furthermore, the issue of cellular degeneration is discussed in the criteria of all diagnostic categories. Examples of standardized reports are included in each chapter. Most importantly, a separate chapter presents data defining the risk of malignancy (ROM) for each diagnostic category to inform clinical management. New high quality images augment those of the first edition to better illustrate diagnostic clues and potential pitfalls. In addition to chapters on diagnostic criteria, current concepts of pathogenesis of bladder cancer, specimen adequacy and preparation, and ancillary tests are covered in separate chapters. A bonus to the volume is a comprehensive history of urine as the earliest diagnostic sample of human disease, richly illustrated with artworks from major museums. Written by internationally recognized authorities, this comprehensive and evidence-based guide to urine cytology is supported by the newest data confirming the original concept and significance of diagnostic criteria defining High Grade Urothelial Carcinoma. TPS is an essential tool for anyone who is practicing urinary cytology, including cytotechnologists, pathologists-in-training and practicing pathologists. This book should find a place in every cytology laboratory throughout the world. The Concept has been endorsed by the American Society of Cytopathology, and the International Academy of Cytology.
