Download or read book Copper I Chemistry of Phosphines Functionalized Phosphines and Phosphorus Heterocycles written by Maravanji S. Balakrishna and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2019-04-25 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Copper(I) Complexes of Phosphines, Functionalized Phosphines and Phosphorus Heterocycles is a comprehensive guide to one of the most widely used and extensively studied metals: copper. The numerous practical applications of copper compounds are discussed, including homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis and their use as fungicides, pesticides, pigments for paints, resins and glasses, and in high-temperature superconductors. The remarkable structural flexibility of simple copper(I) complexes, such as cuprous halides is covered, including numerous structural motifs that, when combined with different ligand systems, exhibit linear, trigonal planar or tetrahedral geometries. This work is an essential reference for inorganic and coordination chemists, as well as researchers working on catalysis, anticancer reagents, luminescence, fluorescence and photophysical aspects. - Discusses the properties of copper and similarities to noble metals, such as their corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity and rich coordination chemistry - Includes the copper(I) coordination chemistry of tertiary phosphines, bisphosphines and phosphines containing other donor atoms and their potential application in catalysis, biosystems and photochemical areas - Features a discussion of the rich photochemistry exhibited by some mixed-ligand copper(I) complexes (phosphines with heteroaromatic ligands) which can exhibit coprophilic interactions, photoluminescence and thermochromic properties
Download or read book Copper Overview From Historical Aspects to Applications written by Daniel Fernández González and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2024-08-28 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Copper is a metal that currently is a key element in the field of electricity, although it has significant importance in other fields, particularly when it is alloyed, due to its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Moreover, copper and some of its compounds are gaining importance in other topics due to their antibacterial properties. Nevertheless, this metal, which was one of the first used by humans, has been crucial for their development, and for this reason, two periods of history are called the Copper Age and Bronze Age due to the importance of Cu and Cu-Sn, respectively, in the fabrication of utensils, weapons, and ornamental objects. From that moment, the utilization of copper has significantly grown to an actual production approaching 30 Mt, of which around 80% corresponds to the mine production while the rest comes from recycling. The reutilization of copper (or the exploitation of secondary resources) is a topic of increasing importance due to both the depletion of high-grade deposits and the importance of environmental aspects in metallurgical industries. This book provides a collection of research works and reviews that emphasize some of the above-reported topics.

Book excerpt: Essays on Analytical Chemistry: In Memory of Professor Anders Ringbom is a collection of analytical chemistry papers and research studies in honor of the memory of Professor Anders Ringbom, a highly esteemed researcher and teacher. The papers are grouped under the following headings: Chemical Equilibria, Titrations, Photometric Analysis, Electrochemistry, Separations, Trace Analysis, Kinetic Analysis, and Other Analytical Topics. This book is organized into eight parts encompassing 52 chapters. The first part deals with the concept of chemical equilibria in acid-base and metal complexes. The next parts cover the applications of different titration techniques, photometric analysis, electrochemistry, and separation techniques. Other parts highlight the principles and application of trace analysis, including the determination of heavy metals and airborne particulates. The last parts contain papers that examine the analytical application of the rate phenomena of several chemical reactions. These parts also tackle the topics of sampling, statistical analysis in analytical chemistry, and the features of photoelectron spectroscopy and capillary electrophoresis. This book will be of great value to analytical chemists, researchers, and analytical chemistry students.

Download or read book Inorganic Chemistry of the Transition Elements written by B F G Johnson and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Download or read book The Determination of Ionization Constants written by Adrien Albert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This practical manual is devised for organic chemists and biochemists who, in the course of their researches and without previous experience, need to determine an ionization constant. We are gratified that earlier editions were much used for this purpose and that they also proved adequate for the in service training of technicians and technical officers to provide a Department with a pK service. The features of previous editions that gave this wide appeal have been retained, but the subject matter has been revised, extended, and brought up to date. We present two new chapters, one of which describes the determination of the stability constants of the complexes which organic ligands form with metal cations. The other describes the use of more recently introduced techniques for the determination of ionization constants, such as Raman and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, thermometric titrations, and paper electro phoresis. Chapter 1 gives enhanced help in choosing between alternative methods for determining ionization constants. The two chapters on potentiometric methods have been extensively revised in the light of newer understanding of electrode processes and of the present state of the art in instrumen tation.

Download or read book Self Assembly in Supramolecular Systems written by Ian M Atkinson and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular self-assembly is a widespread phenomenon in both chemistry and biochemistry. Yet it was not until the rise of supramolecular chemistry that attention has increasingly been given to the designed self-assembly of a variety of synthetic molecules and ions. To a large extent, success in this area has reflected knowledge gained from nature. However, an increased awareness of the latent steric and electronic information implanted in individual molecular components has also contributed to this success. Whilst not yet approaching the sophistication of biological assemblies, synthetic systems of increasing subtlety and considerable aesthetic appeal have been created. Self-Assembly in Supramolecular Systems surveys highlights of the progress made in the creation of discrete synthetic assemblies and provides a foundation for new workers in the area, as well as background reading for experienced supramolecular chemists.
