Se trata de un Villa mítico de perfiles complejos cuya génesis se ubica a finales de 1913. En estas páginas se muestra la importancia que tuvieron en la construcción de este segundo personaje la tradición oral y los medios masivos de información de la época, es decir, la prensa gráfica y el cine. El autor es consciente de que el estudio sistematizado de las imágenes (en este caso de las fotográficas y cinematográficas) constituye sólo una parte del análisis histórico, el cual debe realizarse a partir de varias fuentes y desde diferentes disciplinas. Sin embargo, la aproximación propuesta aquí contribuye de manera importante a entender una parte del complejo sistema de factores que se desencadenaron para dar cuerpo al mito de Pancho Villa.
