This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of volumes represents the equivalent of thesis work for a PhD. The origins of the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet are shrouded in mystery. Travis Wayne Goodsell's two decades of research has produced new theories that help to explain its beginnings. This third volume illustrates the factual scientific observations with the letters of Paleo-Hebrew. This is the foundation for my theories. One can not like my theories, but they have to admit the observations are true. And with my observations being true, the traditional theory is false and a new theory must be adopted. My theories explain the observations. The first observation is with comparisons with the Paleo-Greek letters. Paleo-Greek is not considered Semetic, yet its letters are the same as Paleo-Hebrew which is traditionally considered Semetic. That's the first clue that something is wrong with the traditional theory. The second observation is the accurate matching to Egyptian Hieratic Hieroglyphs. With the manner in which Egyptians understood each Hieroglyph and with the observations of each Paleo-Hebrew letter corresponding to a Hieroglyph's Hieratic character, deductively concludes that Paleo-Hebrew letters have levels of meaning like the Egyptian Hieroglphs. The third observation is the etymology of Paleo-Hebrew. The strokes each have meaning in representing the letter. And the fourth observation is the comparisons of the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet letters to the same Chinese characters. I'm not sure what it means to have Chinese equal in language understanding to Paleo-Hebrew and thus Egyptian. But it is clear there is a unifying connection. All these observations are necessary in preparation for presenting the new paradigm.

There are several theories about connections with Paleo-Hebrew and Paleo-Greek. It is clear that they are from the same language family. Paleo-Greek just added more letters. The comparison is necessary for a study of Paleo-Hebrew and its origins. The Paleo-Greek names are given with the Paleo-Hebrew letters.

This book was released on 2016-09-15 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows the Egyptian Hieroglyphs of the Hieratic characters that match the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet. Hieratic is the cursive writing of the Hieroglyphs, which are the Egyptian pictures. Travis Wayne Goodsell has made the discovery that the Paleo-Hebrew letters correspond to different Egyptian Hieroglyphs as a result of these observations. Travis has also discovered that the new assignment results in the Paleo-Hebrew letters containing individual and combined pictorial meaning. As a result Travis places the age of Paleo-Hebrew to 1500 + BCE making it the oldest alphabet.

This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 234 pages. This fourth volume is dedicated to the theories to explain the evidence of volume three, Factual Scientific Observations. The main premise is that Paleo-Hebrew being related to Egyptian Hieroglyphs is therefore translatable on different levels, having different types of meaning for each letter. It is well known that Egyptian can be translated multiple ways. The Egyptian Combo-Glyph of the Creation Story, for example, is known not only as a story about the Creation of the Earth, but also the annual Nile inundation, the founding of Egypt, and an incestuous relationship between sibling Gods. The levels that I illustrate are: 1.Deity Representations 2.Deity Attributes Representations (can also be called Anthropomorphic Representations) 3.Environmental Representations 4.Historical Representations 5.Biblical Historical Representations 6.Ritual Representations 7.Prophesy Representations Astronomical Representations is unknown by me and Numerical or Gematria Representations were covered in the first volume, being the same as the traditional belief. In this volume I also assign new names and phonemes to Paleo-Hebrew based upon the evidence of the matches with the Paleo-Greek alphabet, pictorially. For the two languages to be the same pictographs and not be the same or similar in naming and phonetics is just illogical to me. This is a new paradigm based upon the observations of the Paleo-Hebrew letters and the manner of translating Egyptian Hieroglyphs. The Hypothesis that I work off of is that Paleo-Hebrew is derived from the invented language of the Greek Merchants and the learning of the Egyptians.

Book Ancient Jewish Sciences and the History of Knowledge in Second Temple Literature

Download or read book Ancient Jewish Sciences and the History of Knowledge in Second Temple Literature written by Jonathan Ben-Dov and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2014-04-28 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until very recently, the idea of ancient Jewish sciences would have been considered unacceptable. Since the 1990s, Early Modern and Medieval Science in Jewish sources has been actively studied, but the consensus was that no real scientific themes could be found in earlier Judaism. This work points them out in detail and posits a new field of research: the scientific activity evident in the Dead Sea Scrolls and early Jewish pseudepigrapha. The publication of new texts and new analyses of older ones reveals crucial elements that are best illuminated by the history of science, and may have interesting consequences for it. The contributors evaluate these texts in relation to astronomy, astrology, and physiognomy, marking the first comprehensive attempt to account for scientific themes in Second Temple Judaism. They investigate the meaning and purpose of scientific explorations in an apocalyptic setting. An appreciation of these topics paves the way to a renewed understanding of the scientific fragments scattered throughout rabbinic literature. The book first places the Jewish material in the ancient context of the Near Eastern and Hellenistic worlds. While the Jewish texts were not on the cutting edge of scientific discovery, they find a meaningful place in the history of science, between Babylonia and Egypt, in the time period between Hipparchus and Ptolemy. The book uses recent advances in method to examine the contacts and networks of Jewish scholars in their ancient setting. Second, the essays here tackle the problematic concept of a national scientific tradition. Although science is nowadays often conceived as universal, the historiography of ancient Jewish sciences demonstrates the importance of seeing the development of science in a local context. The book explores the tension between the hegemony of central scientific traditions and local scientific enterprises, showing the relevance of ancient data to contemporary postcolonial historiography of science. Finally, philosophical questions of the demarcation of science are addressed in a way that can advance the discussion of related ancient materials. Online edition available as part of the NYU Library's Ancient World Digital Library and in partnership with the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (ISAW).

Book From the Dust of the Earth

Download or read book From the Dust of the Earth written by Matthew J. Ramage and published by CUA Press. This book was released on 2022-05-06 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The claim that evolution undermines Christianity is standard fare in our culture. Indeed, many today have the impression that the two are mutually exclusive and that a choice must be made between faith and reason—rejecting Christianity on the one hand or evolutionary theory on the other. Is there a way to square advances in this field of study with the Bible and Church teaching? In this book—his fourth dedicated to applying Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI’s wisdom to pressing theological difficulties—Matthew Ramage answers this question decidedly in the affirmative. Distinguishing between evolutionary theory properly speaking and the materialist attitude that is often conflated with it, Ramage’s work meets the challenge of evolutionary science to Catholic teaching on human origins, guided by Ratzinger’s conviction that faith and evolutionary theory mutually enrich one another. Pope Benedict gifted the Church with many pivotal yet often-overlooked resources for engaging evolution in the light of faith, especially in those instances where he addressed the topic in connection with the Book of Genesis. Ramage highlights these contributions and also makes his own by applying Ratzinger’s principles to such issues as the meaning of man’s special creation, the relationship between sin and death, and the implications of evolution for eschatology. Notably, Ramage shows that many apparent conflicts between Christianity and evolutionary theory lose their force when we interpret creation in light of the Paschal Mystery and fix our gaze on Jesus, the New Adam who reveals man to himself. Readers of this text will find that it does more than merely help to resolve apparent contradictions between faith and modern science. Ramage’s work shows that discoveries in evolutionary biology are not merely difficulties to be overcome but indeed gifts that yield precious insight into the mystery of God’s saving plan in Christ.

Book Evolutionary Creation

Download or read book Evolutionary Creation written by Denis O. Lamoureux and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2008-06-15 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this provocative book, evolutionist and evangelical Christian Denis O. Lamoureux proposes an approach to origins that moves beyond the "evolution-versus-creation" debate. Arguing for an intimate relationship between the Book of God's Words and the Book of God's Works, he presents evolutionary creation--a position that asserts that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit created the universe and life through an ordained and sustained evolutionary process. This view of origins affirms intelligent design and the belief that beauty, complexity, and functionality in nature reflect the mind of God. Lamoureux also challenges the popular Christian assumption that the Holy Spirit revealed scientific and historical facts in the opening chapters of the Bible. He contends that Scripture features an ancient understanding of origins that functions as a vessel to deliver inerrant and infallible messages of faith. Lamoureux shares his personal story and his struggle in coming to terms with evolution and Christianity. Like many, he lost his boyhood faith at university in classes on evolutionary biology. After graduation, he experienced a born-again conversion and then embraced belief in a literal six-day creation. Graduate school training at the doctoral level in both theology and biology led him to the conclusion that God created the world through evolution. Lamoureux closes with the two most important issues in the origins controversy--the pastoral and pedagogical implications. How should churches approach this volatile topic? And what should Christians teach their children about origins?

Book Divine Teaching and the Way of the World

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Samuel Fleischacker offers a defense of 'revealed religion' - religions that regard a certain text or teaching as wholly authoritative over one's life. By reconciling it with secular cognitive and moral practices that allow people to work together regardless of religious difference, he shows how these two worldviews can be brought together.
