Book Imagen y Palabra

Download or read book Imagen y Palabra written by Eliezer Oyola and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Elias Nandino (1900-1993) was a Mexican poet who made his living as a surgeon and physician. He published twenty volumes of poetry in his lifetime, work often focused on solitude, eroticism, and love. In recognition of his dedication to teaching and assisting young writers, the National Young Poets Prize in Mexico is named in his honor. Book excerpt: The reader will find in this anthology a diversity representative of the new Hispanic sensibility being formed in the three Americas. Spanish has become an extensively used language, crossing frontiers with workers that migrate through regions, helping to unite these beings separated by nationalities but who are brothers because of common feelings and the same cultural and linguistic heritage. The poetry in this book performs a reparative role, trying to come closer to another being, the spirit of creativity, and make it more a part of the poetic self. It does so through the magic of the lyrical word. Because the anthology is thematic, its poetic form is eclectic. The poets come from distinct poetic schools, employ different styles. Juana Arancibia writes verse that is reflective and unpretentious, a manner fostered by her regional roots and the poetry of Northwest Argentina for which she is a passionate spokesperson. Rubén Vela cultivates a stirring Poetry Americana that defends American values and is linked to the great movement initiated by Neruda in his Canto General. Ester de Izaguirre creates poetry that is intimate, colloquial and urban, idiomatic to the area of Rio de La Plata. José Cuervo associates more with Hispanic poetry written in North America, Chicano poetry, in which social meditation bears priority over the form of verse. Fitzgerald expresses great affection for nature, a common theme in the poetry of his country and enters into a transcendental poetic dialog with creation, cultivating impressive images of exquisite construction. Book Moving Reflections

Download or read book Moving Reflections written by Jo Evans and published by Tamesis Books. This book was released on 1996 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume exploring the important but neglected Spanish female poet Angela Figuera Aymerich. Angela Figuera Aymerich (1902-84) remains an obscure figure among the Spanish social poets of the Franco regime, her work almost entirely eclipsed by male contemporaries. This book attempts both to bring her poetry to the attention of a wider audience and to show how her work anticipates the generation of women writers and poets who have emerged since the coming of democracy. Focusing primarily on a selection of poems published between 1948 and 1962, Dr Evans shows how her work has been mistakenly ignored as maternal in essence and so of little interest to the poetry of social protest in general. Using feminist and psychoanalytical theories of language to suggest that identity (andpoetic identity in particular) is constructed as the effect of mirror images, the author argues that the `moving reflections' of gender, faith and aesthetics mirror Figuera's struggle with a fragmented poetic identity; through these concepts her work can be read not only as a `moving reflection' of maternal femininity and social injustice, but as an active attempt to retrace the boundaries of female identity. JO EVANS teaches in the Departmentof Hispanic Studies, Edinburgh University.
