Book Polymeric nanoparticles for the treatment of solid tumors

Download or read book Polymeric nanoparticles for the treatment of solid tumors written by Santwana Padhi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-14 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the emerging research in the field of treatment of solid tumors or cancer with new drug delivery systems using nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has given us a good scope for development of new innovative drug delivery strategies to increase the therapeutic efficacy of anticancer drugs with reduced off-target side effects. Cancer is one of the main causes of death worldwide due to the limitations of classical therapies such as low solubility of active drugs, toxic side effects on healthy cells and resistance of tumor cells. These issues are partly solved by the recent development of polymeric nanoparticles, which improve drug absorption and the therapeutic index, while reducing side effects. Drug carriers must be biocompatible, biodegradable and non-immunogenic. Coupled to a ligand that has affinity for that particular cell, polymeric nanoparticles are used to target specifically malignant cells or tissues and, in turn, improve drug stability. This book presents the latest advances in the application of polymeric particles for cancer treatment, with focus on the tumor microenvironment, synthesis, active and passive targeting, patents, targeting over-expressed receptors, tumor-targeting ligands, theranostics, glioblastoma tumors, lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and pH-responsive nanoparticles

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It can honestly be said that the scope and magnitude of this meeting surpassed initial expectations with respect to the number and quality of the papers presented. Our group has grown since we last met in Dortmund in 1971. This is a good indication that a spiraling of our interests has taken place with the effects of the initial good work felt, not just in one corner of the globe, but in all four. With such a start, it was only appropriate that an international society was formed at the meeting to further coordinate our mutual undertaking. Henceforth it shall be known as the International Society of Oxygen Transport to Tissue. A final note of acknowledgement should be made to those who were in the supporting cast, not only in making the meeting in Charleston and Clemson a success, but also in the compiling of this book. Gratitude is due to Dr. Daniel H. Hunt for his efforts, the end product of which you have in your hands. Considerable service was rendered by Mr. Robert J. Adams, Mr. Buddy Bell and Mr. Nathan Kaufman during the symposium itself. Much typing, organizing and record keeping was done by our lovely secretaries, Laura B. Grove, Muff Graham and Kaye Y. Zook.

Download or read book Cloud Computing in Medical Imaging written by Ayman El-Baz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-03-14 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today’s healthcare organizations must focus on a lot more than just the health of their clients. The infrastructure it takes to support clinical-care delivery continues to expand, with information technology being one of the most significant contributors to that growth. As companies have become more dependent on technology for their clinical, administrative, and financial functions, their IT departments and expenditures have had to scale quickly to keep up. However, as technology demands have increased, so have the options for reliable infrastructure for IT applications and data storage. The one that has taken center stage over the past few years is cloud computing. Healthcare researchers are moving their efforts to the cloud because they need adequate resources to process, store, exchange, and use large quantities of medical data. Cloud Computing in Medical Imaging covers the state-of-the-art techniques for cloud computing in medical imaging, healthcare technologies, and services. The book focuses on Machine-learning algorithms for health data security Fog computing in IoT-based health care Medical imaging and healthcare applications using fog IoT networks Diagnostic imaging and associated services Image steganography for medical informatics This book aims to help advance scientific research within the broad field of cloud computing in medical imaging, healthcare technologies, and services. It focuses on major trends and challenges in this area and presents work aimed to identify new techniques and their use in biomedical analysis.

Book Oxygen Transport To Tissue XXIII

Download or read book Oxygen Transport To Tissue XXIII written by David F. Wilson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-01-31 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ISOTT 2001 local organizing committee was pleased to welcome over 140 delegates from around the world to the 29th annual general meeting of the International Society for Oxygen Transport to Tissue. The meeting was held in historic Philadelphia, USA, on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania from August 11 to 15, 2001. In the tradition of ISOTT, the conference was a total immersion experience. Attendees were encouraged to eat together and spend their evenings relaxing together in a style that maximized exchange of ideas and interactions of younger scientists with their more senior colleagues. Delegates participated in a total of 122 presentations including poster displays, selected oral presentations, seminars by invited speakers and a round table discussion. In choosing invited speakers and oral presenters, special emphasis was placed on methods for oxygen measurement in living tissue and application of these technologies to understanding physiological and biochemical basis for pathology related to tissue oxygenation. All of the manuscripts contained in this volume underwent both an editorial and scientific review, and only those meeting both criteria have been published. However, while all efforts have been made to eliminate editorial errors, some have undoubtedly been overlooked, for which the editors apologize.

Book Oxygen Transport to Tissue XXI

Download or read book Oxygen Transport to Tissue XXI written by Andras Eke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-01-31 with total page 842 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Society on Oxygen Transport to Tissue (lSOTT) held its 26th annual meeting from August 23-26, 1998, and met for the second time in Budapest. As captured in the design of the ISOTT'98 logo, the venue of the conference was the Budapest Hilton in the heart of the historic Castle District in Buda, across from Hungary's coronation church-the Matthias Church-and the fairy-tale-like Fisherman's Bastion; a special place with a historical touch situated atop the Castle Hill, from where participants enjoyed the spectacular panoramic views of Budapest exquisitely laid out on both sides of the Danube. In preparation for ISOTT'98, major emphasis was given to the application of informatics in collecting, presenting, and disseminating scientific and other information associated with the meeting. Electronic submission of the abstracts made it possible to publish the illustrated Abstracts on the ISOTT'98 Web Site well before the meeting. Following the meeting, an ISOTT'98 CD was published as a digital, searchable record of ISOTT'98. The scientific program was designed with the active participation of prospective attendees, in that priority and momentum was given to the topics selected by those visiting the Web Site. Poster and oral presentations were considered as equivalently effective formats, reflected by the fact that posters were on display throughout the meeting.
