Requirements of this document shall be applicable to any type of oxygen system technology and encompass "traditional" pneumatic devices, as well electric/electronic indication. The aim of this revision is to define performance for flow indication to oxygen dispensing equipment according to airworthiness requirements of CS/FAR 25.1449, and to cover existing designs of previous document revisions, focused on pneumatic devices, as well electrical/electronic devices.Due to the evolution of technology, this standard has been renamed from Oxygen Flow Indicators to Oxygen Flow Indication in order to cover all mutual means for indication of oxygen flow.

Refer to Purchaser's Specification for Requirements which are beyond the scope or level of detail provided in this document.One valve has an adjustable pressure sensitive closing valve to automatically control the final pressure for a correct amount of oxygen in the system. The second valve incorporates an automatic shutoff feature designed to limit system overpressurization in the event maintenance personnel do not stop system filling at the correct pressure. The intent of the fill valves is to control the rate of fill to limit the rise in temperature caused by compression heating to acceptable values, prevent oxygen back flow and prevent the ingestion of foreign matter that could cause contamination of the system.Note that some fill valves have integral supply line pressure regulators; for more information on supply line regulators, see AS 1248. AS1225A has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE Five-Year Review policy.
