Book Surface and Near surface Chemistry of Oxide Materials

Download or read book Surface and Near surface Chemistry of Oxide Materials written by Janusz Nowotny and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1988 with total page 742 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to fill the gap in the scientific literature by providing a comprehensive overview on the surface and near-surface chemistry of oxide materials. Oxide materials are important in a wide range of technological applications, which has resulted in a large bibliography devoted to their properties. The range of practical applications of metal oxides has recently been significantly extended by the discovery of high T c oxide superconductors. Surface chemistry overlaps with several other disciplines and involves some specialized physical methods, therefore renown scientists active in various fields were invited to contribute to the book. The present volume involves surface characterization of metal oxides as well as surface and near-surface phenomena including gas-solid, solid-solid and liquid-solid interphases. Both basic problems and applied aspects are covered. The theoretical background of ideal and real surfaces as well as surface phenomena such as adsorption, segregation, interphase interactions, equilibration, etc., are dealt with. A comprehensive description is given of the most useful experimental techniques for studying surface and near-surface (grain boundary) chemistry of ceramic materials, oxide catalysts, semiconductors and other oxide materials of practical importance. The range of practical applications of metal oxides has recently been significantly extended by the discovery of high T c oxide superconductors. A special chapter is devoted to High T c oxide superconductors, which provides an up-to-date and thorough review of this currently ''hot topic'' which will be of great interest to a wide section of the scientific community.

Book ETUDE ELECTROCHIMIQUE ET PHOTOELECTROCHIMIQUE DE COUCHES D OXYDES DE CUIVRE SEMI CONDUCTRICES ROLE D UN INHIBITEUR DE CORROSION DU CUIVRE

Download or read book ETUDE ELECTROCHIMIQUE ET PHOTOELECTROCHIMIQUE DE COUCHES D OXYDES DE CUIVRE SEMI CONDUCTRICES ROLE D UN INHIBITEUR DE CORROSION DU CUIVRE written by BENOIT.. MILLET and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA PREMIERE PARTIE DU TRAVAIL EST CONSACREE A L'ETUDE DE LA STRUCTURE ET DES PROPRIETES DES FILMS MINCES D'OXYDE DE CUIVRE DEVELOPPES EN MILIEU NACL 0,5M AERE. L'ETUDE DU PROCESSUS DE CORROSION, APRES UNE HEURE D'IMMERSION, PAR DES METHODES ELECTROCHIMIQUES MONTRE QUE LE MECANISME ANODIQUE PROCEDE EN DEUX ETAPES SUCCESSIVES ET EST CONTROLE PAR LA DIFFUSION DE CUCL#-#2 A PARTIR DE L'ELECTRODE. LE MECANISME CATHODIQUE EST LA REDUCTION DU DIOXYGENE DISSOUS, REACTION CONTROLEE PAR LA CINETIQUE. LE COMPORTEMENT DE CU#2O EST ETUDIE PAR COULOMETRIE, PHOTOELECTROCHIMIE ET DIVERSES TECHNIQUES D'ANALYSES DE SURFACE (MEB, DIFFRACTION X, INFRA-ROUGE, ESCA). LA REACTION DE FORMATION DE L'OXYDE SUIT INITIALEMENT UNE LOI D'AVANCEMENT LINEAIRE, PUIS L'EPAISSEUR SE STABILISE A LONG TERME, TANDIS QU'UNE COUCHE DE PARATACAMITE SE DEVELOPPE A SON TOUR. LES PRINCIPALES CARACTERISTIQUES DE CU#2O MISES EN EVIDENCE SONT SA POROSITE, SON CARACTERE SEMI-CONDUCTEUR RELIE AU MODE DE FORMATION DE L'OXYDE: DE TYPE N POUR L'OXYDE FORME A L'INTERFACE METAL/OXYDE, DE TYPE P POUR CELUI DEVELOPPE PAR PRECIPITATION DES IONS DU CUIVRE FORMES A L'INTERFACE OXYDE/SOLUTION. ON TROUVE ALORS UNE COUCHE DUALE N-P QUI EXPLIQUE L'ARRET DE CROISSANCE LORSQUE LES EPAISSEURS DES DEUX FILMS SONT EGALES. DANS UNE DEUXIEME PARTIE, LE COMPORTEMENT DU CUIVRE EN PRESENCE DE BENZOTRIAZOLE (BTA), INHIBITEUR DE LA CORROSION DU CUIVRE, EST ANALYSE. LES PROCESSUS AUX ELECTRODES SONT FORTEMENT MODIFIES: LES REACTIONS ANODIQUE ET CATHODIQUE SONT SOUS CONTROLE CINETIQUE. LA STRUCTURE DOUBLE P ET N POUR L'OXYDE APPARAIT PRESQUE INSTANTANEMENT. LA FORMATION D'UN COMPLEXE ENTRE LES IONS CUIVREUX ET LE BTA, ET PROBABLEMENT D'UN COMPLEXE SUPEROXYDE ENTRE LES IONS CUIVRIQUE, L'OXYGENE ET LE BTA, EST A L'ORIGINE DU DEVELOPPEMENT D'UN OXYDE TRES MINCE ET TRES HERMETIQUE, DONT SONT ABSENTS LES IONS CHLORURE. UN MODELE EST PROPOSE POUR EXPLIQUER LE COMPORTEMENT PHOTOELECTROCHIMIQUE DES FILMS SUPERFICIELS

Book excerpt: By browsing about 10 000 000 scientific articles of over 200 major journals mainly in a 'cover to cover approach' some 200 000 publications were selected. The extracted data is part of the following fundamental material research fields: crystal structures (S), phase diagrams (also called constitution) (C) and the comprehensive field of intrinsic physical properties (P). This work has been done systematically starting with the literature going back to 1900. The above mentioned research field codes (S, C, P) as well as the chemical systems investigated in each publication were included in the present work. The aim of the Inorganic Substances Bibliography is to provide researchers with a comprehensive compilation of all up to now published scientific publications on inorganic systems in only three handy volumes.

  • Author : Christofer Leygraf
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2016-06-07

Download or read book Atmospheric Corrosion written by Christofer Leygraf and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-06-07 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ATMOSPHERIC CORROSION Presents a comprehensive look at atmospheric corrosion, combining expertise in corrosion science and atmospheric chemistry Atmospheric corrosion has been a subject of engineering study, largely empirical, for nearly a century. Scientists came to the field rather later on and had considerable difficulty bringing their arsenal of tools to bear on the problem. Atmospheric corrosion was traditionally studied by specialists in corrosion having little knowledge of atmospheric chemistry, history, or prospects. Atmospheric Corrosion provides a combined approach bringing together experimental corrosion and atmospheric chemistry. The second edition expands on this approach by including environmental aspects of corrosion, atmospheric corrosion modeling, and international corrosion exposure programs. The combination of specialties provides a more comprehensive coverage of the topic. These scientific insights into the corrosion process and its amelioration are the focus of this book. Key topics include the following: Basic principles of atmospheric corrosion chemistry Corrosion mechanisms in controlled and uncontrolled environments Degradation of materials in architectural, transport, and structural applications; electronic devices; and cultural artifacts Protection of existing materials and choosing new ones that resist corrosion Prediction of how and where atmospheric corrosion may evolve in the future Complete with appendices discussing experimental techniques, computer models, and the degradation of specific metals, Atmospheric Corrosion, Second Edition continues to be an invaluable resource for corrosion scientists, corrosion engineers, conservators, environmental scientists, and anyone interested in the theory and application of this evolving field. The book concerns primarily the atmospheric corrosion of metals and is written at a level suitable for advanced undergraduates or beginning graduate students in any of the physical or engineering sciences.

Book Preparative Methods in Solid State Chemistry

Download or read book Preparative Methods in Solid State Chemistry written by Paul Hagenmuller and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preparative Methods in Solid State Chemistry deals with the preparative methods used in solid state chemistry and highlights the importance of the chemist's role in preparing materials of desired quality as well as obtaining materials according to the requirements of the user such as the physicist. Topics covered range from high-pressure techniques in preparative chemistry to methods of growing single crystals of high-melting-point oxides. This book is comprised of 14 chapters and begins with an overview of possibilities for high-pressure synthesis, as well as the methods used to obtain high pressures, including transmission by gaseous or liquid fluids or in the solid state. The method of shock waves is then considered both from the point of view of thermodynamics and thermoelasticity, along with the possibility of using superpressures for evidently revolutionary applications. Subsequent chapters focus on the synthesis of single crystals of refractory oxides either at high temperatures (essentially liquid-solid transformations) or at lower temperatures in the presence of a solvent or a chemical reagent. The production of single crystals by electrolytic reduction in molten salts is also described. Numerous examples of vapor transport reactions in a temperature gradient are presented. This monograph should be of interest to chemists and students of solid state chemistry.
