Book Arts of Subjectivity A New Animism for the Post Media Era

Download or read book Arts of Subjectivity A New Animism for the Post Media Era written by Jacob W. Glazier and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-12-26 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing thinking from the arts and digital humanities into dialogue with one another, this book investigates what it means to be alive in a world that is structured by technology, the media, and an ever expanding sense of a global community. In this unique time in our history, when we are bombarded by signs and symbols and constantly connected into gadgets, apps, and networks, it has become increasingly difficult to navigate what has been dubbed a 'post-truth' world. Critiques taken from post-colonial studies and neoanimism help challenge the paranoia that has become endemic and, indeed, symptomatic to global realities we are now witnessing. This pertains not only to the ecological degradation of the planet but also to the lingering remnants of eurocentrism and racism that have taken the forms of nationalism and fascism. As a guide, an updated version of what Michel Foucault called an arts of existence may help us sail in these treacherous and confusing waters. Diving into post-structuralist French theory, through American feminism, and emerging out of media studies, this book argues for an ethical and aesthetic form of self-fashioning that runs counter to processes subjection and mediatization. This craft of life, as Plato called it, is a space of disjunction and liberation, between subjectivity and other, where something new and different has the potential to emerge and mould to our likeness.

Book Entrepreneurial Activity in the United States Why are the United State Outperformed by New Emerging Countries in Business Creation

Download or read book Entrepreneurial Activity in the United States Why are the United State Outperformed by New Emerging Countries in Business Creation written by Antoine Niyungeko and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2020-12-01 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Company formation, Business Plans, , language: English, abstract: This paper analyses and presents how the rest of the world now influences the United States as its entrepreneurial activity rises and decreases. The result of the analysis shows that the United States are still dominated by emerging countries in entrepreneurial activities. This is a result of weak cultural support, software industry, and high-growth markets. However, in start-up skills, competitiveness, and emerging technology the United States remain strong. Taxes in the United States decreased in 2018 compared to 2017. This may be the consequence of the reduction of the number of new business and entrepreneurial activity. Zoltan and Laszlo indicated that even though the United States seem to be among the top entrepreneurial economies, its performance is based on the sub-index of expectations but remains slightly on the sub-indexes of attitudes and operation. On institutional variables the US-output tends to be better than on individual variables. A country cannot be strong without a strong economy especially in the private sector. All countries are living by its population via the payment of taxes (tax on company income, tax on salaries and wages, value added tax, tax on dividend). The government redistributes this under different payments (paying its employees, supporting the poor via subsidiaries, payment for health insurance, payment for military expenses, investing in public assets). It is clear that taxes are the main source of revenue for the government. When people are rich, they make their government rich through their contribution. There may be a positive correlation between the amount collected by the government and the number of employed people and the number of companies.
