Book excerpt: A revolution of repentance by the power of the Holy Spirit is needed in the church to bring renewal to a hurting nation. After reading Revolution you will understand what a biblical revolution looks like and how to implement it, starting within your own heart, and going outward from there. This book is not a call to the violent overthrow of the government, nor is it a call to take up arms, nor is it a call to political activism in and of itself. It is a call to something far more extreme, a call to live out the gospel with all its radical claims, a call for the people of God to impact this generation with the prophetic message of repentance, a call to spark the most sweeping counterculture movement in our nation’s history, a call to take back the moral high ground that has been stolen from under our feet, a call to follow Jesus by life or by death. Revolution answers such questions as: What is the role of the Christian and the church during these tumultuous times? How are we to respond to the racial upheaval happening in our nation? What is the church’s role in healing the divide in our fractured, divided country? Dr. Brown turns up the volume in this call to God’s remnant people to pray, repent, and act according to the teachings of Jesus--who is calling us to holy revolution.

This book will provide the information you need so you can be effectively used by the Holy Spirit to bring reformation to our society in the wake of spiritual revival. You will see how God can use you in both big and small ways to fulfill His great commission. How can a spiritual outpouring in the church become a cultural awakening in the society? How can we move from revival to reformation? In Turn the Tide, Michael L. Brown, PhD, lays out the key steps believers must take in this new season of revival—from the prayer room to the home, from the schools and universities to the worlds of finance and politics—to see lasting cultural change. Drawing from historical revivals and scriptural insights, Brown challenges readers to move beyond the boundaries of the church walls and engage in a transformative journey that permeates every aspect of society. He addresses topics such as how to: deepen our prayer base infiltrate the educational system be grounded in apologetics raise up godly leaders in politics engage the culture wars in the power of the Spirit walk in God’s love and truth without becoming the morality police Turn the Tide is an urgent call to believers to rise above complacency and embrace their role as catalysts for societal transformation. It is an essential guidebook for those who long to see their homes, cities, and nations transformed by the power of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The family has been under scrutiny especially during the twentieth century; and exploded momentum-wise into the twenty first century where society’s inclusivity not only found its way, but also attempt to some degree of success; alter God’s divine blueprint of the components of a family. According to the scriptures; the components consist of the following and in the same order: a father, a mother and children. For example, society or what I would like to call “world pattern,” now encourages young people to have children and live together before getting married. The book addresses the roles of a man and a woman who are married to each other, further explains the role of a father and a mother should they decide to have children. The central message of the book is: When the children leave the house, they will take the home with them. The man (husband), is the disciplinarian, while the woman (home maker), provides the three N’s; of Nourish Nurture and Nurse. In this study, I have come to realise that God wired women differently from man. There are scriptural evidences to show that women have the same strength as man if not more. A narrative I believe should be prominent in our conversations. For too long we assumed and continue to say that women are weak; when they are frequently reminded as such; they begin to believe and become vulnerable when threatened during domestic violent episodes. What is amazing, and also makes me an admirer and an advocate of women’s strength, is the amount of pain they withstand, during the assault, then deny it took place. The only way to at least minimise violence in the home; and provide a healthy and happy atmosphere for children to grow, is for God to build the house. Psalm 127:1 King James Version (KJV) 127 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meet Daniel. A Transformed Man Who Transformed His World. What does an ancient Jewish prophet have to do with modern America? What, if anything, can we learn from a man who lived 2,400 years ago as a captive in the land we now call Iraq? As it turns out, quite a bit. David and Jason Benham are convinced the biblical example of Daniel holds the keys to contemporary Christians living victoriously in a world increasingly hostile to people of faith. Like Daniel, many believers today find themselves in an unfriendly environment, one opposed to the God they serve. Yet, like Daniel, they must learn how to take a stand while serving the people around them. Living Among Lions is for Christian brothers and sisters who have the potential to transform their world but find themselves standing in the shadows wondering how to respond in an unfriendly environment. Divided into three sections, Living Among Lions covers three distinct characteristics that made Daniel strong: Conviction, Commitment, and Courage. Daniel possessed all of these qualities and lived them out. As a result, God gave him unprecedented favor and supernatural power. A mere slave living in exile, Daniel emerged as one of the most powerful men in the known world. Daniel’s conviction, commitment, and courage empowered him not merely to survive in Babylon but to thrive. He did not conform to his world; he transformed his world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nationally syndicated radio host and columnist Michael Brown provides a handbook for a biblically-based moral and cultural renaissance, revealing that the key to recapturing America’s greatness consists in returning to our spiritual and moral roots. America is at a tipping point, and never has this been more apparent than right now. We are in danger of losing our spiritual and moral heritage, making many believe that we have fallen beyond the point of recovery. This book is here to say, that, yes, we have fallen. In fact, fallen much further than we realize, but that our country’s best days are ahead—with the help of a radical, moral, and cultural revolution, beginning with the church. This book is a manual for the revolution. On all fronts, Americans are talking about the need for revolution, arguing from the left and the right that “the status quo must go!” This book comes at just the right time, as people are wondering what in the world has happened to our country—from the homes to the college campuses, from the inner cities to the White House, from our national debt to the material found on our computers and TV screens. In clear, compelling prose, Brown covers topics ranging from the sexualization of pop culture to the dumbing down of our schools to the undermining of family structures to a pervasive culture of entitlement, while pointing consistently to the Bible’s solution to these issues. A radical call for reformation written with sobriety and hope, Saving a Sick America provides the inspiration and guidance necessary for a moral and cultural revolution.

Book excerpt: In response to Pastor John MacArthur's call for a "collective war," against charismatics, Dr. Michael Brown has called for unity in Jesus based on a return to the truth of the Scriptures in the fullness of the Spirit. As a charismatic biblical scholar and theologian, Dr. Brown responds to Pastor MacArthur's charges, making a biblical case for the continuation of the New Testament gifts of the Spirit and demonstrating the unique contribution to missions, theology, and worship made by the charismatic Church worldwide. He calls for an appreciation of the unique strengths and weaknesses of both cessationists and charismatics, inviting readers to experience God afresh, and he demonstrates how charismatic leaders have been addressing abuses within their own movement for decades. Dr. Brown speaks on behalf of millions who are not adequately trained to express in writing their own encounters with the supernatural power of God. - David Ravenhill I thank God for this biblically-robust, pastorally-sensitive, historicallyinformed, and graciously-articulated account of the work of the Holy Spirit in the church of Jesus Christ. - Sam Storms Dr. Michael Brown's Authentic Fire puts the brakes on John MacArthur's crusade against charismatics with irrefutable logic, extraordinary insight, Christ-like graciousness, and an undisputable handling of Scripture. - Frank Viola Michael Brown writes with clarity and courtesy as he confronts one of the most explosive issues among all those who uphold the Bible as the plumb line of truth. - David Shibley

Book By the Light of Burning Dreams

Download or read book By the Light of Burning Dreams written by David Talbot and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2021-06-15 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Northern California Book Award for General Nonfiction New York Times bestselling author David Talbot and New Yorker journalist Margaret Talbot illuminate “America’s second revolutionary generation” in this gripping history of one of the most dynamic eras of the twentieth century—brought to life through seven defining radical moments that offer vibrant parallels and lessons for today. The political landscape of the 1960s and 1970s was perhaps one of the most tumultuous in this country's history, shaped by the fight for civil rights, women’s liberation, Black power, and the end to the Vietnam War. In many ways, this second American revolution was a belated fulfillment of the betrayed promises of the first, striving to extend the full protections of the Bill of Rights to non-white, non-male, non-elite Americans excluded by the nation’s founders. Based on exclusive interviews, original documents, and archival research, By the Light of Burning Dreams explores critical moments in the lives of a diverse cast of iconoclastic leaders of the twentieth century radical movement: Bobby Seale of the Black Panthers; Heather Booth and the Jane Collective, the first underground feminist abortion clinic; Vietnam War peace activists Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda; Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers; Craig Rodwell and the Gay Pride movement; Dennis Banks, Madonna Thunder Hawk, Russell Means and the warriors of Wounded Knee; and John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s politics of stardom. Margaret and David Talbot reveal the epiphanies that galvanized these modern revolutionaries and created unexpected connections and alliances between individual movements and across race, class, and gender divides. America is still absorbing—and reacting against—the revolutionary forces of this tumultuous period. The change these leaders enacted demanded much of American society and the human imagination. By the Light of Burning Dreams is an immersive and compelling chronicle of seven lighting rods of change and the generation that engraved itself in American narrative—and set the stage for those today, fighting to bend forward the arc of history. By the Light of Burning Dreams includes a 16-page black-and-white photo insert.
