Book excerpt: "Readers craving a witchy story full of found family, lush nature, and small-town secrets will find it utterly enchanting.” —Hester Fox, author of The Witch of Willow Hall Step into a world of hope, fate, and folk magic in this bewitching debut when a young woman travels to a sleepy southern town in the Appalachian Mountains to honor her best friend. Mel Smith’s life is shattered after the sudden death of her best friend, Sarah Ross. In an effort to fulfill a final promise to Sarah and find herself again, Mel travels to an idyllic small town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. But Morgan’s Gap is more than she ever expected. There are secrets that call to Mel, from a salvaged remedy book filled with the magic of simple mountain traditions to the connection she feels to the Ross homestead and the wilderness around it. With every taste of sweet honey and tart blackberries, the wildwood twines further into Mel’s broken heart. But a threat lingers in the woods—one that may have something to do with Sarah’s untimely death and has now set its sights on Mel. The wildwood is whispering. It has secrets to reveal—if you're willing to listen . . . Praise for Wildwood Whispers: "A feast for the senses. Willa Reece has written a magical, romantic tale about our essential connections to nature and to each other." —Sarah Addison Allen, New York Times bestselling author “A beautifully woven tale of fantasy, feminism, and mystery set in rural Appalachia.”―Constance Sayers, author of A Witch in Time

Book excerpt: A single mother. An abandoned farmhouse. An epic battle with the northern wilderness. Broke and desperate, Molly Bannister accepts the ironclad condition laid down in her great-aunt’s will: to receive her inheritance, Molly must spend one year in an abandoned, off-the-grid farmhouse in the remote backwoods of northern Alberta. If she does, she will be able to sell the farm and fund her four-year-old daughter’s badly needed medical treatment. With grim determination, Molly teaches herself basic homesteading skills. But her greatest perils come from the brutal wilderness itself, from blizzards to grizzly bears. Will she and her child survive the savage winter? Will she outsmart the idealist young farmer who would thwart her plan to sell the farm? Not only their financial future, but their very lives are at stake. Only the journal written by Molly's courageous great-aunt, the land’s original homesteader, inspires her to struggle on.

Book You Did That To Me

Download or read book You Did That To Me written by John K. Ritz and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-04-27 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a business owner of a Bagel Shoppe that served many kinds of fl avored and unfl avored coffees after the lunch rush you have time to sit and unwind. While the help was cleaning up and preparing for that nights Bagel making activities I could have a quite cup of coffee. Once in a while, a parent that came to pick up their kid or spouse would sit with me while I was winding down and start a conversation. You become the bartender or should I say coffee-tender or tea-tender for problems of the frustrated housewife. One mother would show up almost every day looking for sympathy telling me what happened to her but never divulging all the details. I was able to fi ll in most of the between the lines information having some what of the same back ground as her ex-husband. That was my inspiration to write this book. You can learn a lot if you listen and weed out the one sided opinion when you hear both sides from one person. The most important lesson to be learned here is how vulnerable a woman can be while still in a man’s world. She was certain nothing like this could happen to her. COULD THIS HAPPEN TO YOU?
