Book excerpt: From disagreement over an Islamic Center in New York to clashes between Christians and Muslims in Egypt, tension between the three Abrahamic faiths often runs high. Yet for all their differences, these three traditions—Judaism, Islam, and Christianity—share much in common. Three Testaments brings together for the first time the text of the Torah, the New Testament, and the Quran, so that readers can explore for themselves the connections, as well as the points of departure, between the three faiths. Notable religion scholars provide accessible introductions to each tradition, and commentary from editor Brian Arthur Brown explores how the three faiths may draw similarities from the ancient Zoroastrian tradition. This powerful book provides a much-needed interfaith perspective on key sacred texts.

Book excerpt: The Quran, a book which brings glad tidings to mankind along with divine admonition, stresses the importance of man’s discovery of truth on both spiritual and intellectual planes. Every book has its objective and the objective of the Quran is to make man aware of the Creation plan of God. That is, to tell man why God created this world; what the purpose is of settling man on earth; what is required from man in his pre-death life span, and what he is going to confront after death. The purpose of the Quran is to make man aware of this reality, thus serving to guide man on his entire journey through life into the after-life. The main themes of the Quran are enlightenment, closeness to God, peace and spirituality. The Quran uses several terms, tawassum, tadabbur, and tafakkur, which indicate the learning of lessons through reflection, thinking and contemplation on the signs of God scattered across the world. The present translation of the Quran and its explanatory notes are written keeping in mind these very themes. Koran, Qur'an, Coran, Kuran, Islam, Prophet Muhmmad

Book The Book of Deeds of James I of Aragon

Download or read book The Book of Deeds of James I of Aragon written by Damian J. Smith and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-04-13 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 'Book of Deeds' is the first known autobiography by a Christian king. Its author was James I of Aragon (1213-76), known as 'The Conqueror', one of the great political figures of 13th-century Europe and a successful crusader. In his 'Deeds', James describes the turbulent years of his minority, the thrilling capture of Majorca, the methodical conquest of the kingdom of Valencia, the reconquest of the kingdom of Murcia after Castile had failed to hold it, and many of the important events of his reign. While crusade and conquest of Spanish territory from the Muslims and Christian-Muslim relations on the frontier are central features of the account, the 'Deeds' are also a treasure trove of information on the image, power and purpose of monarchy, loyalty and bad faith in the feudal order, the growth of national sentiment, and medieval military tactics. At the same time, the book presents a unique insight into the mind of a medieval ruler, the supreme example we possess of the fears and ambitions of a man at the very centre of events.

Book The Last Battle of Atlantis

Download or read book The Last Battle of Atlantis written by Thomas D. Turner and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-12 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twelve thousand years ago, heroes and antagonists were made. Civilizations were starting to flourish. Within their social structures there was love, honor, and friendship. On the other side of the spectrum, there was also greed, fear, and power. Within the last one hundred years, archeologists and paleontologists unearthed a new world. After the Ice age, archeologists discovered civilizations with architectural buildings and commerce. Paleontologists have proof of animals which were not like we are accustomed to today. They have uncovered giant sloths, mammoths, giant rhinos, and giant elk, all living amongst the civilizations before written history. So far, Atlantis is a legend. In those legends there had to be a leader and hero that brought Atlantis together. The story of Atlandreous unfolds as Duncan, a present day archeologist, visions the beginning of the Atlantean Empire.

Book The Holy Qur an

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jonathan K. Crockett
  • Publisher : AuthorHouse
  • Release : 2004-06-02
  • ISBN : 1418473146
  • Pages : 744 pages

Download or read book The Holy Qur an written by Jonathan K. Crockett and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2004-06-02 with total page 744 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many books that attempt to show the similarities between Islamic beliefs and Christian beliefs. While this book does accomplish that, it takes a step further, using the verses of the Quran to show more than just similarity of beliefs. It shows that Muslims believe in Jesus and, according to their scriptures, believe in following Christ. It shows that they believe the Christian churches of the time were following apostate beliefs. The people of Islam were awaiting the restoration of all Truths as taught by all prophets including Jesus Christ. There are many who do not realize the sheer number of references to Christ that exist in the Quran. Nor do many realize the teachings about the council in heaven, the creation, the occurrences in the Garden of Eden, the need for prophets, the miraculous conception of Jesus, Jesus restoration of the true religion, miracles performed by him, his resurrection and ascension, the apostasy; the prophecies of other chosen people and scriptures, another restoration and more prophets yet to come as taught in the verses of the Quran. This work should be, if not intriguing, at least enlightening for every reader no matter what their religious background or beliefs. Some alternate spellings for Quran are koran and quran.

Book A Concordance of the Qur an

Download or read book A Concordance of the Qur an written by Hanna E. Kassis and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-11-03 with total page 1486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Foreword This Concordance of the Qur'an in English satisfies a paramount need of those—and there are millions of them—who have no command of the Arabic language and yet desire to understand the Qur'an. The benefit derivable from English translations of the Sacred Book is, in principle, limited because, first, the Qur'an is not a "book" but a collection of passages revealed to Muhammad over a period of about twenty-three years and, second, because the Qur'an is not really translatable. This does not mean that the Qur'an should not be translated. It does mean that translations lose much in tone and nuance, let alone the incommunicable beauty, grandeur, and grace of the original. . . . The main distinction of Hana Kassis's concordance, in my view, is that it utilizes the semantic structure of Arabic vocabulary itself in revealing the meaning of the Qur'an on any given issue, point or concept. A reader who looks in the index of this concordance for a word which he has encountered in reading an English translation of the Qur'an—the word pride, for example—is directed immediately to the roots of the Arabic, Qur'anic terms for pride. At tne entries for these Arabic roots, all the derivative forms are shown, and the verses of the Qur'an in which they appear are there listed in translation. . . . I am confident that any person who is sincerely interested in understanding the Qur'an and appreciating the nuances of its diction and shades of its meaning can satisfy his need more fully with this book than in any way short of developing a real command over the Arabic language itself. —Fazlur Rahman, Professor of Islamic Thought, University of Chicago

Book Kitaaba Wal Hikmata

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jamir Ahmed Choudhury
  • Publisher : Partridge Publishing
  • Release : 2016-12-09
  • ISBN : 1482875012
  • Pages : 633 pages

Download or read book Kitaaba Wal Hikmata written by Jamir Ahmed Choudhury and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2016-12-09 with total page 633 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata' is an inspired sharing at the appointed time. It shares for the First Time in the History of Pen-Paper-Pencil Epistemology those Manifest Truths which are being concealed historically from mankind in general. Due to concealment of Manifest Truth and Projection of Manmade Falsehoods within the domain of Epistemology by the International Killers of Faith & Belief as well as their Agencies & Institutions, we [almost all save International Criminals] are far from clear concepts [Self-evident Truths] of Upright Rectangular Universe, Manifested Hexagonal World within Non-luminous Moon of the East Horizon, Appearing Pentagonal Earth, Sirius Binary System [Trinity], Three Ascending Stair Ways, Four Cardinal Directions in resemblance with Four Basic Forces & in correspondence with Crucified Sign, Equal & Opposite Manifested Sign of Sole Magnetism from North to South & South to North, Equal & Opposite Moons [Uranus & Neptune] of the Equal & Opposite Zone, Right Direction of performing Salat [Namaz] facing each other towards Upright West [Arsh], appointed day of observing Idd uniformly, Upright West Region of the Appointed Kaba, Straight Middle-East Region of Bermuda Triangle, existential imports of Nine Tokens given to Muusaa (ass) i.e. projected nine planets, and the like. It is self-evident that we know nothing after having known much due to Projected Epistemology. Consequently, we are living under Man-made Nature and are fighting to liberate animals from Manifested Nature. Each searched out Manifest Truth shared in the Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata will appear either contrary or contradictory to uncountable pen-paper-pencil works and mechanical activities prevailing in the History of Projected Epistemology. Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata published by Partridge Publishing, 2016, is the first pen-paper-pencil work [self-published book] in the History of Epistemology which not only explores with experimentum crusis and crucial instances the Trinity of Manifest Hypocrisy Teleological Evidence Sorcery Extreme Epistemic Persecution, 6310 Conspiracy Commentaries of the researchers of IFTA on Quran in resemblance with Introduced Man-made Magnetism & Invented Circular Rotation & Revolution System of NASA, Nexus of Self-evident Plagiarisms prevailing in the so-called research works etc. but also shares Manifest Truth [Injiil in correspondence with Tawraat] with reference to verifiable truth of facts [Real Science] and justifiable necessary truth [True Philosophy]. As 'Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata' shares Irreversible Manifest Truth searched out on the basis of Four Revealed & Established Criiterions [Units / Scales] of Truth in resemblance with Universal Major Premises [Coded Shared Tautologies], so, it is beyond scepticism. Sceptic of Irreversible Manifest Truth is instructed to commit Suicide. Projected impact factors, API Points, pentagonal star marks, citations, criticisms, critical remarks, critical reviews, commentaries, Peter Singers concept of liberation, John Rawls Veil of Ignorance, John Lockes Tabula Rasa, Copernican Universal Mal-observation, Keplers Elliptical Axis, Astronomy, Mysticism, Spiritualism, Sufism, Rucksack of According to etc. have no existential imports with respect to searched out Irreversible Manifest Truth shared in the Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata. On the contrary, Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata has proclaimed Greatest War or Jihade-Akbar against International Epistemic Persecutors who have concealed Manifest Truth from the domain of education and have projected Man-made Falsehoods as Manifest Truth within the domain of Education in the name of Scientific Certainty. So, Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata rightly deserves verification, justification, recognition, and confirmation of the searched out Manifest Truth [Injiil in correspondence with Tawraat] for the Sanctity of Education, Utilitarian Liberation, Survival of the Truest. If the possessors of Balanced Good Sense are able to point out lacunae in the Logical Thread of the searched out Manifest Truth with reference to criterions of truth and in resemblance with at least one Universal Major Premise [Coded Shared Tautology], the sharer of 'Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata' will try to research Manifest Truth from that pointed lacunae. In this regard, the sharer of 'Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata' places 'Justifiable Appeal' before all to reject or to recognize the searched out Manifest Truth shared in his book for the First Time in the History of pen-paper-pencil Epistemology. Further, going through Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata, each possessor of Balanced Good Sense will be able to recognize International Criminals as well as their Equal & Opposite games with Faith & Belief of Mankind in general and particularly with the equal & opposite Right Path towards Upright West & appointed Day of observing Idd uniformly. It is certain like Cogito Ergo Sum of Rene Descartes that the Day when the capability of the possessors of Balanced Good Sense to Approach Justness will manifest openly and publicly, that Day Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata will get triumph over projected falsehoods. Expecting Justness from the Respective Authorities, Honourable Chairs, Epistemic Persons, Educated People, Possessors of Balanced Good Sense, and Mankind in general with searched out Manifest Truth and Solidified Solid Human Rights shared in the Kitaaba Wal-Hikmata,
