Download or read book Our Father Prayer and Praxis written by J. Lambert St. Rose and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-10-13 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A running theme in Father St. Roses collection of poems is a simple but profound expression of the diversity in creation and its oneness in the Godhead. Its a reminder of the need to promote and protect the integrity of all of creation because, in the Godhead, there are no accidentsall of creation has value and purpose. What Father St. Rose has done in this collection is to place before the reader those everyday experiences we take for granted and a chance to see them in their totality, because it is only then that we can appreciate the fuller value of the individual experiences (Everistus Jn Marie). Meditate upon the lines of the Our Father through a series of poems and be willingly crafted in the hands of God, the master sculptor. A former teacher and ever prolific, the poet usefully dissects the Our Father, delivering it to us in word and deed from a living perspective, often in all-too-familiar contexts (Nahdjla Bailey; teacher, author, and editor). This book is a phenomenally deep presentation of a vast cohesion of Jesus Christs divine teaching, which should be our lifetime curriculum while on earth in order to help us reach our heavenly destination one day. This book is a work of love! (Loyola Devaux, teacher and editor).
Download or read book Dangerous Prayer written by Darren Cronshaw and published by Authentic Media Inc. This book was released on 2017-02-01 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dangerous Prayer offers a strategy for fostering prayer and spirituality in mission that focuses on neighbourhood transformation and global needs using the Lord's Prayer as a radical blueprint. Sustainability in mission is not possible without prayer; vibrancy in prayer is not possible without mission. Christians on mission need a vibrant life of prayer in order to be effective yet to have a vibrant prayer life they need an outlet in mission. The Lord's Prayer offers a radical inspirational framework to help move Christians beyond praying just for themselves and to have their imaginations captured by the mission of God and concern for global needs. Jesus' words guide us to pray for God's Kingdom on earth, for restoration, for food for all who are hungry, for people to experience forgiveness and all that really is good news about Jesus. It is a dangerous prayer because of its counter-cultural and radical stance, and because it invites us to be, in part, the answer to our prayers. This book offers inspiring and practical approaches for unleashing the whole people of God for missional prayer and prayerful mission.

Download or read book The Lord s Prayer in the Ghanaian Context written by Michael Wandusim and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-10-25 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study explores the reception history of the Lord's Prayer in the Ghanaian context. After presenting the current state of research in the Lord's Prayer from an exegetical perspective, this book discusses a wide field of hermeneutical approaches, such as inculturation biblical hermeneutics, mother-tongue biblical hermeneutics, African feminist biblical hermeneutics, liberation biblical hermeneutics and post-colonial biblical hermeneutics. Taking the discussions of these approaches together, it was realised that the general hermeneutical setting in Ghana (and Africa as whole) is reader-centred, i.e. the readers play an active role in the hermeneutical process and the results of the hermeneutical process are aimed at the readers’ contexts and the transformation of those contexts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book proposes a theology of preaching from the perspective of the poor. Traditional homiletic methodology concentrates on the "how" of preaching. Pastro maintains that the real question for a renewal of preaching is theological, the "who" of the preaching. The center of the "who" is the Triune God living in the poor community.

Download or read book The Lord s Prayer and the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew s Gospel written by Charles Nathan Ridlehoover and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-12-26 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charles Nathan Ridlehoover examines the Lord's Prayer in Matthew's Gospel, focusing on the prayer's centrality and showing how this centrality affects our reading of the Sermon on the Mount and subsequently, the prayer itself. Ridlehoover argues that the Lord's Prayer is structurally, lexically, and thematically central to the Sermon on the Mount, and the means through which disciples of Jesus are empowered to live out the kingdom righteousness it defines. In turn, the Sermon on the Mount clarifies what the answer to the petitions of the Lord's Prayer might look like in the life of the disciple of Jesus. Whilst the centrality of the Lord's Prayer has been noted by previous commentators, this centrality and its intended purpose has not hitherto been defined or examined in great depth. Ridlehoover fills this gap with a closely argued and in-depth study, ranging from methodology and the structure of the prayer itself to examining the Father, will, forgiveness and evil petitions, and the relevance of word and deed for hearers and doers. Ridlehoover's examination of the relationship between the Sermon and Prayer advances studies in compositional criticism and intratextuality.
Download or read book Reading Catechisms Teaching Religion written by Lee Palmer Wandel and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-10-14 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reading Catechisms, Teaching Religion makes two broad arguments. First, the sixteenth century witnessed a fundamental transformation in Christians’, Catholic and Evangelical, conceptualization of the nature of knowledge of Christianity and the media through which that knowledge was articulated and communicated. Christians had shared a sense that knowledge might come through visions, images, liturgy; catechisms taught that knowledge of ‘Christianity’ began with texts printed on a page. Second, codicil catechisms sought not simply to dissolve the material distinction between codex and person, but to teach catechumens to see specific words together as texts. The pages of catechisms were visual—they confound precisely that constructed modern bipolarity, word/image, or, conversely, that modern bipolarity obscures what sixteenth-century catechisms sought to do.
