Download or read book The Complete Work of Rembrandt Vol 3 written by Rembrandt Rembrandt and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-26 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Complete Work of Rembrandt, Vol. 3: History, Description and Heliographic Reproduction of All the Master's Pictures, With a Study of His Life and His Art In the case of an artist so intensely subjective as Rembrandt, whose works reflect his inner life as in a mirror, it is not surprising that the personality of the young girl who had won his heart, and with whom he spent the happy years that preceded her all too early death, should have played an important part in his artistic production. From his first acquaintance with her until her death, and for some time after it, a period of over ten years, we recognise her, not only in portraits, but in compositions, in studies, in pictures, drawings and etchings. At an earlier stage of this work, when enumerating the series of pictures painted shortly before and simultaneously with Saskia's first appearance in Rembrandt's work, from another youthful female sitter, Rembrandt's sister Lysbeth, as I endeavoured to prove her, I found it necessary to mention the earliest portraits of Saskia, and to describe the appearance of the two young women, in order to differentiate their portraits. It will be enough, therefore, to refer my readers now to these passages in vol. I (chap. II). About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Rembrandt the Complete Drawings and Etchings

Download or read book Rembrandt the Complete Drawings and Etchings written by Erik Hinterding and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rembrandt's drawings display his emotional state with a candor unseen in other works. They function as a repository for his unfiltered feelings and perspectives of the world that surrounded him. Be it through haunting sketches of his first wife in the grips of a fatal case of tuberculosis, simple scenes of street life, or studies of elephants and tigers, Rembrandt communicates his feverish thirst for images, and his ability to represent these through the lens of his immediate emotional state. Commemorating the 350th anniversary of the artist's death and published in tandem with an exhibition at the Rijksmuseum of unprecedented scale, this stunning XXL monograph is the complete collection of Rembrandt's works on paper. Through the 700 drawings, brilliantly printed in color for the first time, and 313 etchings in pristine reproduction, we explore Rembrandt's keen eye, deft hand, and boundless depth of feeling like never before; and above all, we witness that he was far more than just a painter.

Book The Complete Work of Rembrandt Vol 6

Download or read book The Complete Work of Rembrandt Vol 6 written by Wilhelm Bode and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-16 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Complete Work of Rembrandt, Vol. 6: History, Description and Heliographic Reproduction of All the Master's Pictures, With a Study of His Life and His Art In quality and character the compositions of these years show no essential diffe rence to those of the preceding period. The artist was still in the full vigour of manhood. But they nevertheless indicate a change in his mode of life. No landscapes appear later than Lord Lansdowne's jllill, which belongs to the early fifties; not because Rembrandt had lost his delight in nature, for in many later pictures and drawings he introduced the most beautiful landscape backgrounds, but the artist had become more and more ofa hermit, leaving the town, and even his own house less and less. The scanty number of portraits painted to order is a characteristic of the years following immediately on Hendrickje's admission into the household, as also of this later period. With few exceptions, the portraits are those of old friends, or of new acquaintances, with whom he had been brought into contact for the most part in consequence of his difficult situation and his bankruptcy, and who took advantage of the excellent opportunity of getting their portraits cheap, or perhaps for nothing. The master's portraits of himself and of his nearest relatives, and his figure studies, are all the more numerous for the same reasons.
