Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the chemistry of boron is still relatively young, it is developing at a pace where even specific areas of research are difficult to compile into a monograph. Besides the boron hydrides, boron-nitrogen compounds are among the most fascinating derivatives of boron. Nitrogen compounds exist in a wide variety of molecular structures and display many interesting properties. The combination of nitrogen and boron, however, has some unusual features that are hard to match in any other combination of elements. This situation was first recognized by ALFRED STOCK and it seems proper to pay tribute to his outstanding work in the area of boron chemistry. One should realize that about forty years ago, STOCK and his coworkers had to develop completely new experimental techniq'\les and that no guidance for the interpreta tion of their rather unusual data had been advanced by theoretical chemists. In this monograph an attempt has been made to explore the general characteristics of structure and the principles involved in the preparation and reactions of boron-nitroge~ compounds. It was a somewhat difficult task to select that information which appears to be of the most interest to "inorganic and general chemistry" since the electronic relationship between a boron-nitrogen and a carbon-carbon grouping is reflected in the "organic" character of many of the reactions and compounds.

Book Progress in Boron Chemistry

Download or read book Progress in Boron Chemistry written by H. Steinberg and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Boron Chemistry, Volume I is a 10-chapter text that covers the advances in the chemistry of various boron compounds and their applications. The opening chapter deals with the chemistry of compounds containing boron-boron bonds, followed by a brief overview of some aspects of the coordination chemistry of boron. The subsequent chapters discuss the molecular structures of boron hydrides and the chemotherapeutic potential of boron compounds. Other chapters explore the chemistry of other boron compounds, including heteroaromatic boron compounds, organoperoxyboranes, organoboron heterocycles, and boronic acids. The concluding chapter describes the NMR studies of boron compounds. This book is of value to organic, inorganic, and analytical chemists.

Book Contemporary Boron Chemistry

Download or read book Contemporary Boron Chemistry written by Matthew Davidson and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2000 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The continued and evolving significance of boron chemistry to the wider chemical community is demonstrated by the international and interdisciplinary nature of the research reported in this book. Contemporary Boron Chemistry encompasses inorganic and organic compounds as well as polymers, solid-state materials, medicinal aspects and theoretical studies. Covering many areas of chemistry with boron at its centre, topics include applications to polyolefin catalysis, medicine, materials and polymers; boron cluster chemistry, including carboranes and metal-containing clusters; organic and inorganic chemistry of species containing only 1 or 2 boron atoms; and theoretical studies of boron-containing compounds. New materials with novel optical and electronic properties are also discussed. Comprehensive and up to date, graduates and researchers in a wide range of fields, particularly those in organometallic and organic chemistry and materials science, will welcome this book.

Book Organoborane Chemistry

Download or read book Organoborane Chemistry written by Thomas Onak and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1975 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organoborane Chemistry deals with the chemistry of organoboranes, with emphasis on compounds containing a carbon-boron bond. The structure and physical properties of organoboranes are discussed, along with the reactions of three-coordinate and four-coordinate organoboranes, organodiboranes, and other organopolyboranes such as organotetraboranes and organopentaborane compounds. Comprised of seven chapters, this book begins with an overview of multistep synthetic or degradative reactions involving organoboron compounds, along with the nomenclature for such compounds. The next chapter examines the structure and physical properties of organoboranes, with emphasis on boron-carbon bond lengths, electronic transitions, and molecular orbital calculations. Subsequent chapters focus on three-coordinate and four-coordinate organoboranes, together with their synthesis, reactions, and properties; hydroboration and dehydroboration of organodiboranes; and the synthesis, reactions, and physical properties of other organopolyboranes such as organotetraboranes, organopentaborane compounds, and organodecaborane compounds. The final chapter is devoted to cyclic boron-carbon systems and the applications of organoboron compounds. This monograph should be of interest to organic chemists.

Book excerpt: Boron Chemistry contains the selected lectures presented at the Third International Meeting on Boron Chemistry held at Munich & Ettal, FRG on July 5-9, 1976. Separating nine papers as chapters, this book discusses effects of orbital vacancies in boron compounds, the aminoboronation reaction, and the cyclic coordination of boron compounds. This text also explores the organoboranes in synthesis and analysis; the synthesis, structure, and chemical reactions of metalloboranes; and studies of the smaller boron hydrides and their derivatives.

Book Science of Synthesis Advances in Organoboron Chemistry Towards Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Science of Synthesis Advances in Organoboron Chemistry Towards Organic Synthesis written by Elena Fernández and published by Thieme Chemistry. This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The widespread use of organoboron compounds justifies the efforts devoted to their synthesis, as well as toward developing an understanding of their reactivity. The nature of the mono- or diboron species is of paramount importance in determining the reversible covalent binding properties of the boron atom with both nucleophiles and electrophiles. By wedding the rich chemical potential of organoboron compounds to the ubiquity of organic scaffolds, advanced borylation reactions have the potential to open unprecedented synthetic alternatives, and new knowledge in the field should encourage chemists to use organoboron compounds. In this volume, the main objective is to provide a collection of the most useful, practical, and reliable methods, reported mainly within the last decade, for boron activation and boron reactivity. The volume covers the main concepts of organoboron compounds and includes experimental procedures, enabling newcomers to the field the instant and reliable application of the new tools in synthesis. Rather than aiming for a comprehensive coverage, the most advanced solutions for challenging transformations are introduced. To this end, a team of pioneers and leaders in the field have been assembled who discuss both the practical and conceptual aspects of this rapidly growing field.

Book Synthesis and Characterization of New Boron Nitrogen and Boron Nitrogen Phosphorus Systems

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of New Boron Nitrogen and Boron Nitrogen Phosphorus Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The preparative and derivative chemistry of organoborane compounds that contain silicon-nitrogen functional groups is both diverse and synthetically useful. The wide variety of reactions that can occur at boron, in combination with facile cleavage of the Si-N bond, makes them potential precursors to polymeric B-N systems. We report here on the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of three representative examples of the title systems of general types 1 and 2. Some of these systems are being studied as the precursors to new types of inorganic-organic hybrid polymers and/or novel ring systems.
