Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Embedding Organizations written by Marc Maurice and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2000 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "globalization" of economic activities has given rise to an interest in the relations between such tendencies, the nature of societies, and the nature of various actors within and cross-cutting societies. This book serves to systematize the approach, and react to newly arising issues. It brings together proponents, sympathizers and critics of societal analysis, and seeks to enter new fields. The message stressed and demonstrated by the editors and authors, is that the "societal space" of social, economic and political interdependencies is not being obliterated but complexified, and therefore a topical and explanatory framework.
Download or read book Innovation Between Science and Science Fiction written by Thomas Michaud and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-06-29 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fantasy and science fiction are both involved in the process of innovation in techno-scientific societies. Long regarded as a hindrance to rationality, and to science, science fiction has become the object of praise in recent decades. Innovative organizations use science fiction to stimulate the creativity of their teams, and more and more entrepreneurs are using its influence to develop innovation. Scientific practice relies in part on an imaginary dimension. The mapping of the technical imagination of science fiction has become an important strategic issue, as has its patentability. The conquest of space, the construction of cyberspace and virtual reality, biotechnologies and nanotechnologies are all at the center of futuristic fictions that participate in scientific speeches and discoveries.
Download or read book Mastering Hidden Costs and Socio Economic Performance written by Henri Savall and published by IAP. This book was released on 2008-04-01 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a first for the Research in Management Consulting series. As research and theory building in management consulting have grown rapidly during the past several years, the series is dedicated to capturing the latest thinking from applied scholars and scholarly practitioners in this field. Complexity and uncertainty in today’s fast-paced business world have prompted a growing number of organizations—profit and not-for-profit alike—to seek guidance in their concomitant change efforts. External and internal consultants and change agents have become increasingly visible in most, if not all, organizational change initiatives. Individual consultants and consulting firms have become increasingly involved in not only providing organizational clients with advice and new ideas but in implementing those ideas and solutions as well. While the series will continue to seek out and explore emerging trends, innovative perspectives, and new insights into the world of management consulting, it is also useful to look back— especially in different countries and cultures—to recapture and revisit past frameworks, intervention models and contributions. This volume is a translation and modest updating of Henri Savall and Véronique Zardet’s original work on mastering “hidden costs,” initially published in French in 1987.

This book was released on 2021-11-11 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This innovative book presents state-of-the-art thinking on using transactional analysis (TA) to change the structure, relationships and culture in organizations. The book is arranged according to the three levels of organizations described by Eric Berne – the structural, interpersonal and psychodynamic levels – and the chapters expand on his concepts at each level. With contributions by an international range of authors, incorporating a selection of practical case studies, the book illuminates key themes including group and team dynamics, psychological safety, emotion and, most foundationally, boundaries. Exploring the tensions of boundaries that can determine both the stability of a system as well as its innovative potential, this book provides a strong structural framework for TA coaches, consultants and analysts, as well as other professionals working with and within organizations.

Download or read book The Global and the Local written by Arndt Sorge and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2005-03-17 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: '...there is... no lack of ambition in this book. And yet, unlike much of what today comes as sociology, it is fun to read, written in a way that combines the very abstract and the very concrete, the principles of general theories and the anecdotes of specific histories, in ways that are enlightening and entertaining at the same time. Those who take the book to heart will find themselves in possession of a language that can speak about 'globalization' in a non-sensationalist manner without, however, in any way detracting from its significance - in fact, quite to the contrary. They will much better and more systematically understand the lasting significance of the local in a world whose horizons of action are expanding.' From the Foreword by Wolfgang Streeck, Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies, Cologne The rhetoric of internationalization and globalization often suggests an inexorable move away from domestic cultural and institutional differences. Yet the development of internationalization within individual nations has been shaped by those very domestic institutions and cultures, as 'best practice' or other kinds of international learning have been translated into established practice and knowledge. In this important study, Arndt Sorge presents a sociological theory of the development of human societies to explain how business systems evolve and change, and how internationalization works to specify and change societal identities within nations. Examining changes in work, organization, corporate governance, and human resources, Sorge shows how this interaction is a pattern that has been followed over centuries. Indeed, amongst the cases Sorge presents, he concentrates on the example of Germany, a supposedly highly homogeneous and closed society, as evidence for the universality of shifting borders, expanding horizons, local adoption and adaptation of global practices, and the hybridization of systems and standards, as the normal course of social evolution. Arndt Sorge's analysis of globalization combines rigorous theoretical reasoning with empirically-grounded analysis, and deliberately adopts a general social science approach, drawing on research from Business and Management Studies, Sociology, Political Science, and History.

Download or read book Non profit Governance written by Guillaume Plaisance and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-08-29 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-profit Governance offers 12 perspectives and analytical frameworks to facilitate the development of governance in non-profit organisations (NPOs). In this sector, governance is all the more important because it is often voluntary. Organisations therefore need to be supported in their management, accountability, and strategy. International standards (in particular ISO 37000:2021, dedicated to the governance of organisations) propose key principles to ensure value creation around stakeholder engagement, leadership, risk governance, social responsibility, and organisational sustainability. This book proposes to explore and adapt these principles to the non-profit sector. To do this, the book focuses on four facets of governance: the controls it puts in place, the stakeholders it must listen to and manage, the performance it must monitor, and, finally, the people it must lead and mobilise. The book also highlights the interest of governance mechanisms and processes in developing effective performance, ethics in NPOs and responsible management. Each chapter therefore takes one or more of the principles of ISO 37000:2021 in the non-profit context and builds an analytical framework around them. These 12 frameworks can thus be used by the organisations themselves to develop their governance practices and by researchers who will find original approaches to incorporate into their studies.
