Notably, even in 2020, when there was a reduction in overall travel due to the pandemic, the rate of cell phone-related accidents remained high. Geospatial tools were employed to identify the locations of these crashes, revealing urban centers like Portland and Salem as significant hotspots. The research also highlighted factors influencing injury severity in these crashes, emphasizing the protective role of seatbelts. The findings indicate a pressing need for initiatives to address distracted driving in Oregon.
