Download or read book Information Geometry and Its Applications written by Shun-ichi Amari and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-02 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first comprehensive book on information geometry, written by the founder of the field. It begins with an elementary introduction to dualistic geometry and proceeds to a wide range of applications, covering information science, engineering, and neuroscience. It consists of four parts, which on the whole can be read independently. A manifold with a divergence function is first introduced, leading directly to dualistic structure, the heart of information geometry. This part (Part I) can be apprehended without any knowledge of differential geometry. An intuitive explanation of modern differential geometry then follows in Part II, although the book is for the most part understandable without modern differential geometry. Information geometry of statistical inference, including time series analysis and semiparametric estimation (the Neyman–Scott problem), is demonstrated concisely in Part III. Applications addressed in Part IV include hot current topics in machine learning, signal processing, optimization, and neural networks. The book is interdisciplinary, connecting mathematics, information sciences, physics, and neurosciences, inviting readers to a new world of information and geometry. This book is highly recommended to graduate students and researchers who seek new mathematical methods and tools useful in their own fields.
Download or read book Higher Order Networks written by Ginestra Bianconi and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-12-23 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher-order networks describe the many-body interactions of a large variety of complex systems, ranging from the the brain to collaboration networks. Simplicial complexes are generalized network structures which allow us to capture the combinatorial properties, the topology and the geometry of higher-order networks. Having been used extensively in quantum gravity to describe discrete or discretized space-time, simplicial complexes have only recently started becoming the representation of choice for capturing the underlying network topology and geometry of complex systems. This Element provides an in-depth introduction to the very hot topic of network theory, covering a wide range of subjects ranging from emergent hyperbolic geometry and topological data analysis to higher-order dynamics. This Elements aims to demonstrate that simplicial complexes provide a very general mathematical framework to reveal how higher-order dynamics depends on simplicial network topology and geometry.
Download or read book Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook written by Bruce Rawles and published by . This book was released on 2011-07-28 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 256 page resource has 221 full page black and white "line art" graphic images. The ready-to-use templates teach by "whole brain" play and creative exploration, with over 1300 smaller images surrounding the central full page image on each page, providing examples of countless variations for the creative explorer of this art form and science. In addition to a large collection of 2-dimensional patterns, a "coloring book for kids of all ages", there are 27 3-dimensional "fold-up" patterns which make it easier than ever before to create exquisite shapes revered by pioneers such as Plato, Pythagoras, and Leonardo daVinci. There is a brief introductory section on the philosophical perspective of universal proportions and symbols. The book also has extensive tables, World Wide Web links and bibliographic references for those whose interest and curiosity has been sparked by the hands-on, experiential majority of the book. It is a reference for serious students of geometry and its omnipresent purpose. This is a newer, perfect bound version of the book which has also been available in a spiral-bound version since 1997.

Download or read book The Geometry Code written by Bruce Rawles and published by Elysian Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrate practical insights from modern physics, ancient Hermetic Laws, non-dual meta-physics, transpersonal psychology, and humor, as tools for undoing conflicting beliefs we've dreamed ourselves into. The seven Hermetic laws are explored in depth and demonstrate how a mindfulness that embraces 'other' as 'self' can reverse the typical misapplication of these inescapable laws of Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause & Effect and Generation. Ubiquitous geometric symbols, paired to each of these laws - the circle, vesica piscis, sine wave, line, spiral, fractal and yin-yang - and their countless commonplace variations, seen from the vantage point of shared interests, reflect these ideas. The inspired use of natural law restores attributes of life, love, strength, purity, beauty, perfection and gratitude to our awareness.

Download or read book Euclidean Geometry in Mathematical Olympiads written by Evan Chen and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2021-08-23 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a challenging problem-solving book in Euclidean geometry, assuming nothing of the reader other than a good deal of courage. Topics covered included cyclic quadrilaterals, power of a point, homothety, triangle centers; along the way the reader will meet such classical gems as the nine-point circle, the Simson line, the symmedian and the mixtilinear incircle, as well as the theorems of Euler, Ceva, Menelaus, and Pascal. Another part is dedicated to the use of complex numbers and barycentric coordinates, granting the reader both a traditional and computational viewpoint of the material. The final part consists of some more advanced topics, such as inversion in the plane, the cross ratio and projective transformations, and the theory of the complete quadrilateral. The exposition is friendly and relaxed, and accompanied by over 300 beautifully drawn figures. The emphasis of this book is placed squarely on the problems. Each chapter contains carefully chosen worked examples, which explain not only the solutions to the problems but also describe in close detail how one would invent the solution to begin with. The text contains a selection of 300 practice problems of varying difficulty from contests around the world, with extensive hints and selected solutions. This book is especially suitable for students preparing for national or international mathematical olympiads or for teachers looking for a text for an honor class.

Download or read book Proceedings of the EAA Joint Symposium on Auralization and Ambisonics 2014 written by Weinzierl, Stefan and published by Universitätsverlag der TU Berlin. This book was released on 2014 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In consideration of the remarkable intensity of research in the field of Virtual Acoustics, including different areas such as sound field analysis and synthesis, spatial audio technologies, and room acoustical modeling and auralization, it seemed about time to organize a second international symposium following the model of the first EAA Auralization Symposium initiated in 2009 by the acoustics group of the former Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University). Additionally, research communities which are focused on different approaches to sound field synthesis such as Ambisonics or Wave Field Synthesis have, in the meantime, moved closer together by using increasingly consistent theoretical frameworks. Finally, the quality of virtual acoustic environments is often considered as a result of all processing stages mentioned above, increasing the need for discussions on consistent strategies for evaluation. Thus, it seemed appropriate to integrate two of the most relevant communities, i.e. to combine the 2nd International Auralization Symposium with the 5th International Symposium on Ambisonics and Spherical Acoustics. The Symposia on Ambisonics, initiated in 2009 by the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, were traditionally dedicated to problems of spherical sound field analysis and re-synthesis, strategies for the exchange of ambisonics-encoded audio material, and – more than other conferences in this area – the artistic application of spatial audio systems. This publication contains the official conference proceedings. It includes 29 manuscripts which have passed a 3-stage peer-review with a board of about 70 international reviewers involved in the process. Each contribution has already been published individually with a unique DOI on the DepositOnce digital repository of TU Berlin. Some conference contributions have been recommended for resubmission to Acta Acustica united with Acustica, to possibly appear in a Special Issue on Virtual Acoustics in late 2014. These are not published in this collection.
