This book was released on 2011-03-21 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ETF strategies that put you in the right market segments at the right time to maximize profits--and rotate you into safer ETFs and cash equivalents when markets decline. Investors need to uncover and employ strategies that provide consistent returns in both bull and bear markets--rather than relying upon instincts and opinions of others, which usually fail them. That's what this e-book is about--providing self-directed investors with two reliable and profitable ETF investing strategies that beat buy-and-hold by a large margin with less risk. Reviews: "At 34 pages it is concise, but loaded with trading and investing wisdom, plus two simple actionable, effective and profitable ETF rotation strategies. Masonson prefers cost-effective ETFs to outdated and expensive mutual funds, which also are less risky than individual stocks. Both the relative strength and moving average strategies have been back tested by ETF Replay." -- Jeffrey A. Hirsch, Stock Trader's Almanac

Book Trading Option Backspreads

Download or read book Trading Option Backspreads written by Adam Warner and published by FT Press. This book was released on 2011-09-13 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the eBook version of the printed book. A backspread is an option spread in which a trader carries a short position in one option series and a greater quantity of long position in another option series. The backspread gives you a two-pronged bet. Since you typically structure them to yield a credit, you win small if the entire trade goes worthless. You also have extra long puts on a put backspread, and extra long calls on a call backspread, so you potentially win big if the underlying stock moves sharply beyond your strike prices. That sounds fantastic, like getting paid to buy a lottery ticket. Alas, you face risks, too. You lose if the underlying stock hovers near the strike price you own or if implied volatility of the options declines while the stock moves into unfavorable territory. Even so, backspreads provide excellent risk/reward characteristics if you want to bet on a move in the underlying stock. In this Investing Short, Adam Warner shows you how.

Book Timing Volatility

Download or read book Timing Volatility written by Steven Place and published by FT Press. This book was released on 2011-11-02 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, capital markets have undergone repeated periods of extraordinary volatility, creating and destroying massive amounts of wealth with stunning rapidity. In response to accelerating volatility, many investors have adopted hedging via options and other derivatives; tools that were once limited to specialists can now be used by retail traders with the click of a mouse. As these tools become increasingly prevalent, investors must learn a crucial new skill: how to use their prices to accurately gauge market perception of risk. In Timing Volatility, expert options trader Steven Place helps you develop a far deeper understanding of risk markets, including risk premia, implied volatility, and the VIX index. You’ll learn how to identify signals of shifting risk perception in the markets and transform them into actionable ideas that put you a step ahead of other traders and investors. Next, Place guides you through the elements of a successful volatility timing model and presents a detailed example based on the classic trader’s axiom “buy the blood”—showing how to capture opportunities that arise only when others are panicking. Place concludes by introducing an extensive list of timing tools for more effective analysis and model development, including Bollinger Bands, moving averages, price/volatility divergences, volatility pivots, volatility term structure, volatility skew, and much more.
